SEPTA HD 60fps: Kawasaki B-IV Broad St. Line PM Express Trains Flying Through North Philadelphia

- Shot on 7/14/16, during the start of the evening rush hour (3:50 pm to 4:10 pm). Even though North Philadelphia is built as an express stop, only 8th Street spur express trains stop there. Main line express trains bypass the station, making it a perfect location to record good horn action and express trains passing by with decent lighting. Enjoy =)

the ever dependable Kawasaki B-IV and it's classic AA2 horn
Oh Yeah
The ends of these cars look a bit dated compared to the sides.
I'm gonna upload my train videos soon. I got M-trak Philly train's these kind too and NYC train's.
Septa broad street go brrrrrr
love the B5's philly born and raised btw mike NICE WORK on train sim
So how gay would an extension to the present Cheltenham Mall be?
This would bulldoze the mall and replace it with a massive Park & Ride + Terminus station.
The goal being to divert vehicle traffic off PA 309 onto Public Transit. Route:
from Olney TC, NW on Old York Rd., W on Stenton Av., NW on Ogontz to the mall site.
That would be ridiculous. We already have route 16 that takes you to the Cheltenham mall. And the train already ends at Fern Rock, which is on the east side. Fern Rock transportation center would have to no longer be a stop
Fan Railer I got a question about septa why are the trains like four cars?
Train length depends on time of day. Longer trains (say about 8 cars) would be run earlier in the morning for the rush hour periods, as well as in the afternoon for the end-of-day commute.
Train length varies based on the branch and time of day on this line.
It's five cars for both local and express trains (usually two married pairs with a double-ended car between them) and two cars on the Spur (usually a married pair). In all cases, this is down from eight cars when the old cars ran the line.
8th and market ridge ave
Trains are short
They run express then Branch
Off to 8th and market
That line is part of what
Now is PAtco
@@FanRailerIf you can do it. So can I. Perhaps on the 10th of April.
Time now to start painting these railcars Redbird Red.
Factoid: Redbird Red originated here.
You are correct. On the old Broad Street Subway cars. Redbird Red is also called Gunn Red, named after David Gunn, who was General Manager for SEPTA first, then New York City Transit Authority. He also implemented Quality Control in both transit agencies to keep all transit vehicles in tip-top shape, regardless of age of the vehicle.
Philly never completed
There system it was design
To be much larger
4 times in my Philly trips and I've railfanned on the Broad Street Line and this Broad Ridge Spur... And I gotta tell ya.. These express trains to Walnut-Locust... If these Broad Ridge spurs stop here, why don't these Walnut Locust Express trains follow suit?
Because, Walnut-Locust Express trains do not stop here.
@@malachimuhammad-dy2owThey should. This is an express station after all.
@@MJBRUclipsNetworkTrue. They should
Ok thx 😜
Also, Main Line Express Trains are not scheduled to stop here.
I don't see why they don't when they should.. This is an express station.
He means express trains with green lights.
They only stop at Olney, Erie, Girard, Spring Garden, Race-Vine, City Hall, and Walnut-Locust.
Boston subway system is better and bigger than philly
Philly is more like the New York subway system
NY beats all
We'll give you the bigger part. The SEPTA Board has no interest in either expanding train service or making it better, and does not care what the public, Philly government, Harrisburg or anyone else wants. Even if they are given unlimited amounts of money, the vast majority will go towards buses. It's not that SEPTA can't think outside the box like Los Angeles or Portland does. They choose not to.
Hey there, it's no contest: I like them ALL, except that I never been to Chiago (my Great Grandfather was quoted for pronouncing Chicago as Chiago).
That’s Okay it’s serves its purpose very well
Express trains frying by for us would be about 60-70 mph on the Chicago metra and Amtrak line for you it's like 30 mph
Flying
lol you're trying to compare a rapid transit metro system to a railroad operation? Try again lol.
+Fan Railer search Metra it is a train line that runs in Chicago. I will upload a video soon of what it is but it is owned by BNSF
Maybe think more like a cta express train. This is more a subway then a system like metra,
Do local BSL trains stop at North Philadelphia along with Spur trains?
Yes they do
Only the local
Shuttles stop there as well.
