They're $50 now, I just put one on my wife's Glenfield 60. It might be the best in its class, but its good enough for plinking or sniping squirrels.
LOVE seeing the youngins behind a gun, learning how to shoot and be safe around them.
Good stuff! I've had mine for many years, and paid full price, at the time that was 39 bucks shipped. No complaints, this little scope has given us years of service w/o issues! Clear glass, and is pretty stable holding zero. We mostly use it for a 22 lr but have friends that use them for even bigger caliber. GOD SAVE OUR COUNTRY!
Thanks for the video. I'm a Leupold guy; have them on many of my rifles. I bought a Ruger 10/22 for my son and put the Simmons on it. For the value; good performing scope.
Great FAMILY activity. Just bought the Simmons .22 mag scope for my dad's RAR 22 mag. I'm sure it will serve him well, as rarely as he shoots.
I'm used to much higher quality optics but I got one of these for free (circa 2010?) when I bought a Savage 93 FVSS 22 WMR. It was a used take off and the shop owner gave it to me for free (with no rings) with the gun. Initially I was going to keep it for something in the future uber cheap use but ended up putting it on the Savage for a few months and was surprised at how decently it worked. Obviously the optical quality is... what you'd expect for $40 or $50 but it never failed. Upgraded to a Nikon that was on the gun for a long time. Then I put it on a 597 for a kid in the distant family and it worked for several more years until he got a heavy 10/22. Knowing him, he was not gentle with it but he said it still worked fine when he sold the rifle. If on a SUPER tight budget, you could do worse. I haven't looked through a Simmons in probably eight years but I did recently mount and boresight a Bushnell AR 3-9 that was under $100 and was blown away by how decent the optics were.
Just grabbed one of these from optics planet for my 10/22. $48. Im not a regular on their site so I didn't have any discounts or anything, but apparently they normally retail for $70 now. I ordered new mounts with it at the same time because every review says the included ones are trash. As long as it holds zero and has decent sight picture I'll be happy.
What mounts did you order for it? I just purchased this scope for my 10/22.
@@jtre81 I wound up canceling my order. They said it was in stock, I bought it, a few days went by and I checked my order and it said it was on backorder. I wound up going with a Bushnell dusk & dawn fixed 4x scope with UTG QD 2 peice scope rings off of Amazon.
I have same model 22 10 and same scope . I opted for 1 piece mounting rings . I noticed after a five round grouping , I adjusted windage and height also . After firing 20 rounds I re tightened scope , and double checked to see if scope was still on centre on my target . Thanks for sharing
it's actually 40 bucks you just got a great deal
Stop calling it a 15$ scope just because you got a discount
Cry about it
I just pulled the trigger on this scope in silver to match my Ruger 10/22 Sporter in Stainless. I paid $128CA from Cabelas, including shipping and tax, for your $15US scope. As you can imagine, I am ecstatic.
Thanks for the video. I just ordered the adjustable objective version of this scope last night since they have a rebate going and all. From all the reviews I have read, this thing should get me by for now. I will use different rings for sure.
Very cool!! Glad to see the lil ones having fun shooting..
Thanks for the feedback. It was a great day at the range. Had my three boys there all at once for the first time ever. We had the range to ourselves which made it ideal.
I’m 28 years old and this same rifle and scope was gifted to me by my father in-law, now I’m cracking up realizing is basically a rifle for kids haha. This is the first and only “weapon” I have ever owned haha.
I still enjoy shooting my 10/22 - great fun and easy. I introduced my wife to 22 shooting and brought her a Marlin 60N, which she loves the look and feel of
World record grizzly was killed by .22lr so there's that..
I agree on the security of the rings. The beveled claws make the clamps not butt up flush. I thought I had them flipped upside down. I guess maybe it's me. This is my first .22 since childhood so I'm not familiar with the scope mount. Just seems like the scope is "holding on by it's finger tips". Not a solid design compared to pic rails.
Its reticle not rectical why do people mispronounce this word so often?
I have this scope on my 10/22 and it does a fine job. I did replace the Ruger scope mount for a Weaver mount and bought Weaver scope rings.
The Ruger mount is sub par as far as quality. The Simmons rings are sub par as well.
The sight picture is excellent. So far so good. But I suggest that the first thing you do is to toss those mounts into the garbage can.
Seen other videos and those rings will slide meant for dovetail
Great video.
Thanks and thanks for watching!
Included rings are junk but a solid scope. $40 on Amazon
Nicely done. What magnification were you shooting with 25 vs 50
I bought 4 of these scopes at one time, not one had rings that worked. Can you recommend see thru sites which can fit on a picatinny rail system?
Ciro Attardo just need different rings ones that come with are done tail
By chance is that a Ruger 10 22 50 year anniversary edition
Had one on a 223 held zero , but a a film inside? Useless in lowlight
You paid $15….just to clarify it is about a $65 scope give or take.
is the rail you have on your gun 11mm and will this fit my 11mm dove tail rail it says 3/8 but some reviews said they are 11mm
it will fit. these ringmounts are made to go on all 22 dovetails except for the cz` or brno`s which i believe have 5/8" dovetails.
Thanks for the video!
Thanks for watching!
How is it when you shoot at actual far ranges(200, 300, 400 yards)? i bought the 4x32 by accident but I'm cool with it. Also when you adjust the focus does it lose its zero?
+Soggy 92 I haven't seen any issues with zero when adjusting focus. Since its on a 22 I haven't tried it beyond 100 yards as I typically don't shoot 22 beyond that range.
Great video, thank you. Just bought a 10 22 compact for my daughter. Been looking at this scope.
What height are the rings?
@@92sadventure71 my 4 power zooms in closer by adjusting eyepiece. Crazy ! I glued it in the sweet spot
Any idea if this scope would hold to a .223/5.56?
I would think so, but haven’t tried it myself.
scope clipped my ballcap and knocked lens loose- poor
Simon is excellent scope for the money if it made in USA. If it made in CHINA I wont pay $5.00 for it.
Simmons is owned by bushnel but most American companies have their garbage built in china.
I don't recommend 22 for bears or mountain goats.
Wow,this scope on opticsplanet is now $78.98 with mount rings,$58.98 on Amazon
On Amazon it's 4e
43
reticle, not reckticle
xincarceratedx shut up grammar Nazi
