    Thank you Tim, very helpful instruction. I have a question. Does the ODIS program a Comfort Access Smart key for 2015 Audi A3 Immo5 MQB?. All keys are lost. I cannot even turn on Ignition. The only light in dashboard is Key Not recognized.
    I tried to program the key with Lonsdor, but it ask to turn on lights and push the brakes to wake ECM, but no lights when I do these steps, so no luck to wake the sleepy ECM :)
    Does ODIS do that?
    Thank you

    • @timtracy9442
      @timtracy9442  4 года назад +6

      YES, ODIS is the factory tool... just like any factory tool, it isn't cheap to get into, but it is well worth it for us... On the cars with a push to start, such as a 2016 A3 Etron, which I did today, you need a dealer key, and when you go to program the key, it ask's you if you want it to turn on terminal 15 via the internet, select yes, and the car lights up, steering lock releases and you go thru the rest of key learning... If you are trying to do this aftermarket , I don't think londsor is going to be able to pull the CS to precode a key, or even the pin to start programming... The only aftermarket tool I have used to program a key to these is either AVDI or VVDI, and trying to get the data from the car usually means jumping fuses.. Good luck.

      The last time I did an ABS module on a newer Audi, we had to get a new one from Audi and use ODIS to code it in... If the module is used, make sure it is the same exact part number as the one being replaced, then use VCDS or AVDI and read the coding on the old unit, then put new/used unit in and write the coding you read from the old unit.. VCDS is geared towards one line of vehicles, AVDI will let you diagnois all the vehicles it covers, which is quite a lot... and you can buy special functions that let you do alot of amazing things...

    Hi, I have a 2008 Touareg.it has just one key when I bought it from the USA. I got another key cut after sending the codes on the flip side of the one key to one locksmith in the US. The key can only open the doors with alarm blaring. Is there anyway I could get this key programmed offline or remotely? I have tried some key programmers like Autel and SKB-900 but they can't get the SKC or programme new key. VW dealership we have in my country don't sell Touareg models and are reluctant about my request to program a new key. Is there any way you can help or recommend any tested key programmer that has proven to work on 2008 VW Touareg, BHK engine. Thanks so much.

      I only use ODIS as my last resort... The newer cars, MQB all keys lost, and the newer audis that require you to tear apart half the car, read data from most of the modules, then give it 12-18 hours to syncronize the modules... I love my AVDI, but sometimes you need to ask what your time is worth... Usually, the rather expensive cars, those people aren't that bad waiting a few days... It's the people who really can't afford the car that have issues.... We work with our local VW/Audi dealer all the time.. they send us alot of business.. and they are great people... Same with Mercedes...

      I was told by a VW/Audi tech that it won't work even if it's unlocked. Apparently when the key is new it's assigned to a VIN. When you go online and Odis checks the key it will see that the serial number was assigned to another car and fail. You have to use aftermarket tools such as Autel to add a reman key.

    • @timtracy9442
      @timtracy9442  3 года назад +3

      VCDS, or VAG-COM, is an awesome tool... and is reasonably priced.. ODIS is $900.00 for Audi, and $900.00 for VW per year.. and you can't program keys unless you have NASTF certification... I have VCDS, and I use it all the time, it is a great quick tool... But if you are trying to program a key or a module to a car newer than 2007, you need something like Abrites or supervag or one of the aftermarket tools that will read the pin and also the component security from the car.. All VAG vehicles after 2006 need a dealer key, you can either get that from the dealer, or make it with data from the car.. As for the steering lock, We don't see all that many failures.. except for 2006-2011 Passats, and Audi A6's and, well, I guess there are a few... You can always put an emulator in most of the cars, except A6 which uses the steering lock as the immo too.... If you are just starting into this, get VCDS... it won't pull any pins to program keys or mudules, but it is a great diag tool...

Pull the pin from the ECU, you should have a ME7.11 in your car.. once you have the pin, use vag-com and go to channel 17, instruments, click on login, use the pin you pulled from the ECU, if you only got 4 digits, then put a 0 in front.. such as 3421 = 03421, then go to adaptation, I think it is channel 1 or 21, put in how many keys you would like to program, then cycle each key for 5 seconds.. done, now go to channel 35 doorlocks and program the remote.. It might be channel 46, central electronics depends on when your car was built...

    • @timtracy9442
      @timtracy9442  3 года назад +1

      @@bikerboy2k142 good rule of thumb, if the ignition is in the column, you have immo data in the cluster.. If you have an ignition in the dash, which yours does, you have either a kessy or a J518, which is the steering lock.. You can still read the data and get the pin from the ECU, but there is a different procedure to program a key to it... Go to ross-tech and puruse there immo info.. you have immo 3.. In your car, the steering lock holds the immo info, when you put a key in the ignition, the steering lock reads the info from the key, the ignition is just an antenna and a couple of microswitches.. if you look at your key blade, it has whats called an extra cut at the end closest to the remote, that extended cut is all that is holding your key in the ignition... not like your doorlock which has 8 wafers... once you insert the key, the steering lock reads the data, if it is a valid key, it signals the motor to unlock the steering column, when the motor ulocks the column it sends a signal back to the controller saying it is unlocked, when that happens, the steering lock send a signal to the ECU to start the car... If the controller gets a no unlock signal or a we cn't tell if its unlocked signal, you start getting errors.. when you tall enough errors, the steering lock shuts everything down.... You can either replace the steering lock with a new one from VW, or you can replace the microswitches and motor and take your chances... I haven't seen any full on emulators for those steering locks... You can get the boards from china, and I think you can also get the full unit from china too.. But to program one in, you either have to eeprom the old one and write that data to the new one, or use ODIS to adapt the new module... The A6 and the Passat are the ones that are becoming a real issue.. people are thinking they can just replace parts and viola, it will start... I keep getting called to shops where they have changed everything and cant get the car to start.. when I login, I ask where the old parts are?? they look like a deer in the headlights... On you car, the steering lock, the ecu, the TCM, all of the audio system and the ABS and traction control all have to have the correct CS for the car to talk.. if not, the offending module will noise up the bus so bad nothing will work... had a 2004 Turdegg that was a theft recovery.. they put front seats out of another turdegg into it, they noised up the bus so bad the car wouldn't start... Just a heads up, I would find a decent independent shop that specializes in euro cars, cause it's easier to explain to an indy than to a service writer who can't even spell VW....
