    This guy has no idea about the Rubicon. Never mentioned the chassis or suspension and that is what sets the Rubicon apart. Same the Mojave chassis and suspension sets it apart.

    The Willys hits the sweet spot as far as features/price. BTW it's pronounced Willis, as in "what you talking about, Willis?"

      I still have the original VIN plates from a 1946 Willys CJ-2A… and yes, we always pronounced the name as “willis” just as the original automaker John North Willys pronounced his own last name. Anyone who calls it “willies” doesn’t really know the history behind the Willys Overland Company who built the original Jeeps.

    Many people buy Rubicons and use their lockers only once a year. I have 2023 Willys, my bud has Sport, and side by side I can confirm that Willys (despite all the heavy-duty claims they make) is essentially an appearance package. The aluminum wheels on my jeep actually inferior for off-roading. Although for 24 model year they added rear locker, so this is a big step up (I only have rear limited slip).

  • @backwoodstherapy
    @backwoodstherapy 11 месяцев назад +3

    2023 models, Rubicon is hard to beat if you can afford it - standard dana 44 axles front and rear, plus lockers and better gearing and high clearance fender flares. New 2024 models Willys also have the Dana 44 in the front, high clearance fender flares, and a rear locker. Gearing is still 3.45 so the 33" tall tires are a stretch but it'll hold 35s with no lift and then all you need is a regear, add in a front limited slip and you have 99% of the Rubicon capability at a pretty decent discount.

    You forgot the main difference. The suspension!

    • @backwoodstherapy
      @backwoodstherapy 11 месяцев назад +1

      Who keeps a jeep suspension stock? Any sort of lift kit beyond a basic spacer lift will replace shocks and springs. The biggest difference prior to 2024 is the lockers on the Rubicon, front Dana 44, gearing, plus high clearance fender flares and an electronic disconnecting sway bar. But now the Willys has a rear locker, high clearance fender flares, a Dana 44 in the front and standrd 33s. Only difference is it doesn't have a front locker, gearing is still 3.45, and no electronic front locker. It's about $6500 cheaper than the Rubicon so even if you regear and throw in a front limited slip you come out ahead about $4000 with 99% of the capability of a Rubicon.
