If the video quality does not corespond to the quality of the thumbnail, people will leave the video probably near the start of it which will hurt the content possibly more than just having a decent thumbnail to start with
i couldn't agree more. the thumbnail quality should match the quality of the video, otherwise people will be disappointed (this is why i haven't updated my old video thumbnails xd). however, if you make a really good video, it deserves a high quality thumbnail to give it the best chance possible to meet it's full potential 🩵

this is really just an opinion, but i felt that kaboom's thumbnail was somewhat unclear with the mace part, and the INSANE glow that kinda covers alot is a bit bad. i felt that n3on's one was better just due to it being more clear and understandable, i still really like both thumbnails.
yes, both had their strengths and weaknesses, and it was a close decision between the judges (i voted for n3on’s along with one other judge, and then there were three judges who voted for kaboomooo’s)
