I'm all for going for the ice cream. Jamie sounds good to me. The day is my birthday. I don't know what day this year. Tutorials, Aaron, but June the sixth, which is today, is my birthday. 74 years old and I watch you guys all the time. And I give you compliments. A love love love watching you guys. You're so great at what you do so talented. The Lord has really blessed you with your talent and we do learn as we go along when we do things. And that's what you all. Do you'd learn as you go along? You make mistakes and sometimes the mistakes we make are a blessing in disguise. Thank you for what you do.And I love watching you going to the bands. We don't have bands where I live. That would be a good thing cause I would love to get some of the quills. And the vintage sweaters I loved as vintage sweaters you found
Happy birthday🎉🎉🎉
Happy Birthday Friend! The bins are so fun. We have had to learn as we go and it’s been a fun ride.
The little bag I think it's for clothes pins😊
Books falling apart are fantastic to sell for junk journals!
Kids today will never know the thrill of the Sears or JC Penny's catalog
Those were our 2 stores to shop for school clothes, for the few things Mom didn't sew for us. Wish Penneys still sold that cotton underwear from the 50s. I can't find anything like it any more. And the wishbooks that came in the mail were good for hours of enjoyment. If you find one that's an original (not a reproduction) with all the dolls and pretty dresses circled, that's one of mine!
I loved the catalogs!!! We loved the Christmas ones ( growing up) picking out presents!
I just love that Sears catalogue...........
I think that was a clothespin bag
I agree
Battenberg Lace. Love that. The bright afghan with squares and rectangles of color is in the style of the artist Mondrian. (Look up “Broadway Boogie” painting 8:19) Very 1960’s! Love the books and quilts!
That Sears catalog is my personal favorite of all the thrifted or gifted items.
That's a major score 👏 👌
The green and white pillowsham with pink flowers is a Hawaiian pattern. I can’t think of the flower off the top of my head. While I was attending BYU-Hawaii I took a Polynesian crafts class and each of us stitched one quilt block. The tiny even stitches you make as you sew around and around your flower pattern is intense but very rewarding!
Great idea guys. The buyers will be really pleased with their mystery box!
That Sears catalogue!😍🤩
My dad had some of those World's Greatest Literature books. I recognize the cover.
It'd be so cute if you lined at least one cabinet door, in the cottage, with pages from that Sears & Roebuck catalog pages! You could decoupage over the top of the pages!!
Yup, Battenberg lace
She did identify it as Edinburgh Lace though.
I had the British Literature book in my class in college. I was sitting in that class when we heard JFK had been shot.
Love the Sears catalog!
Love the blue glass canisters! Those will be fun mystery boxes.
Loved this youtube. The books You pick out are always great, Really loved that one that had the pictures and the sketchings. Love all of the afghan's quilts and linens you pick up.
Oh my GOSH! That Sears catalog! 🥰🥰🥰
*The pillow sham or sheet or whatever piece of linen with the Hibiscus flowers printed on it is gorgeous❣️ Reminds me of flower leis and Hawaii And close, Jami...it's called Battenburg lace - the fancy cutwork in the cotton linen piece you asked about. 😉🙃🤍🥰*
Watch all your videos but rarely comment! Love seeing all the books, quilts, heck it’s fun to see everything you find. I would be interested in bookmakers and left over decoupage papers for crafting!
I found a book at church rummage sale that is from 1918, “ The Rural Efficiency guide”. So cool all about farm animals and care etc
Oh I loved the black book, Milton’s Poems, that’s completely falling apart. Nothing that a ribbon around it won’t solve. And the sketches from the group of pictures with animals.
I took a class on preserving and repairing old books. Really valuable books should probably be restored professionally but even your vintage children’s books can be restored: the book is taken apart (stapes or stitching removed) and the pages are “bleached” and the old glue dissolved. The pages are pressed dry and flat-a fairly lengthy process. The covers are carefully cleaned and any broken corners are restored. When everything is clean and flat the pages are re-glued and re-stitched together. Then the block of pages is reattached to the cover using an additional page on both front and back, each of which is attached to the cover. If the book has space on the back the name of the book and author is written in gold or black calligraphy. A protective box with one open end might be made for the book to be slipped into. The box can be plain or decorated appropriately. I restored and reattached the covers of my old “Joy of Cooking” cookbook circa 1965. I had propped and dropped it so many times the cover finally fell off. I was so happy to be able to use it again! I didn’t remove the stains on my favorite recipe pages, but it is continuing to function very well! I have worked on my favorite children’s books and reattached their covers and repaired their bindings. It brings me joy!
That sears catalogue is everything ❤
Great haul as usual. I can't believe you found an antique sears catalog. What a treasure that is. when me and my brothers were little we couldn't wait for the sears and jc penny catalogs to arrive especially the christmas ones. By the time christmas got here those catalogs were worn out from us kids. Oh what fun that was. I would love to come across one when I am out thrifting. I love the sketch book you found. Ya'll always find the best stuff.
I liked that cute little green/blue pitcher and thought the sunflower pic with red frame was great!
the covers on those 3 green and brown books are gorgeous
Battenburg lace
Really fun bins finds, and I love the mystery box idea
The old Sears catalog is amazing. You can copy the pages for ephemera and save the catalog.
Beautiful British Vogue sweater!
Love the Sears Catalogue!
Whoa, the first edition book is treasure!
Good idea on the mystery boxes.
I swear one of those sheets looked like one I had when I attended BYU in 1976. Lol. I’ve got to get brave and hit up the bins here in Charlotte NC. I have a hard time walking so I vicariously shop with you!
You guys find the best things to flip and sell love your finds new friend much love cincinnati ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Forget a mystery box from goodwill have a hard enough time picking out the used junk for myself, that increased the prices on stuff that's not new but very well used
The Sears catalog was a great find!
I love that red frame with the sunflowers! ❤❤❤
That sears book is awesome ❤
Everything turned out great
While the idea is fun and some might really love it, I just can’t bring myself to order any kind of mystery box. You have so much to stash in a mystery box, I’ll give you that. Good luck! ❤️
I totally get that. Just fun to do every now and then❤️
Please tell me you picked up the vintage clothing book? ❤
Oooh, that quilted sham might look good on the bed with my bargain quilt!
Congratulations your mystery boxes sold out in less than an hour.🎉❤️
I hope you got the folded book. Those sell for pretty oenny and take lots of time to do!
Love the cobalt glass storage containers as is
I like to press old linen damp and get a good crisp press.
❤ watching all your videos. Keep up the awesome work 😊
Really fun idea!!
More mystery boxes!
Pillow shams are good for your kitchen table topper!
Hubby and I miss Sears too 😢
I think I have the pillow case to that flat sheet, lol
minute 9:56 find is awesome
its called battenburg lace
I’m surprised your bins location doesn’t have a standard book rate. Every location I’ve been to (in different states) had a book rate of $0.25 each book or sometimes it was $0.30/lb. So either way it was much cheaper than the rest of the bins because they knew books weighed much more than anything else and wanted to encourage people to still purchase them.
See if they are advertising houses in the Sears catalog
I think the bag looks like a vintage casserole bag.?.. You would put your hot dish in and have way to keep it hot and carry it..
Jami I know I should be commenting on the Thrifting, but I just wanted to tell you that you are looking amazing. I don’t know what your skin care routine is and I know you have mentioned Botox and things like that but you are looking younger . I almost said you are glowing, but when you have as many kids as you and I do, and you’re actually done having them, I don’t know about you, but if somebody told me my skin was glowing, I almost had a heart attack because I thought yikes could I be pregnant again?! Ha ha ha. You should do a video on all the things that you’ve been doing to look so fantastic. and, just so you don’t think I’m some weird creeper 😂 As always, loved shopping with you guys🤣
Clothespin bag ?
yes
Your posting early...Good morning
Where do you sell your books ? I just started looking at vintage books . I do pick up all coffee table books. Originally for myself but now for a booth I hope to open in the near future. Great video !!
Battenberg❗️😉
I know you edit your bins videos for time, but how long do you generally shop there?
Usually an hour. But this week it was two because the Pickins were slim.
Gosh, I've never been to a bins, but I'm not sure I could get through everything in an hour. You guys must have it down to a science. 😊
Zeb….. my book soul mate!! My mom live in Saint George. We made they trip to the bins last Friday at 4:00 pm. But we still left with lots of treasures and books. Wasn’t as good as a early trip, but still worth the trip. Sure wish we had on closer…. Maybe one day🤞🏼love watching your videos.
Isn't that old Sears catalog great?!!❤ They're fascinating!! The prices!! The drawings! So cool..the barn pic looks perfect in that frame.. and Jami, what's your favorite ice cream.. did you get some that day?!
Rocky Road I eat it almost everyday.
@@JamiRayVintage oh,yummy!!😋🍨
Jamie, Please tell me where you purchased your jumper, I love it.
It is from free people
❤❤❤
Tell zeb I sold the Sear Robuck fir $30 on ebay the other day! I had regrets, then I found another one.
😊👍👋
How do I look at your quilts and afgans for sale?
This weeks won’t be available until Saturday. But here is a link to all linens and books we have available jamirayvintage.com/collections/books-linens
I'm a little "slow" I guess..how does one get a mystery box? Id purchase one !
We had them listed on our website. But they all sold. We’ll do them again. I have some more stuff I can pull together.
What does piece quit mean?
Pieces of fabric are put together to make the panels for the quilt
@@vickiwarren2170 It also means that pieces of it are good while the rest is ruined. you cut out those pieces. jamie also refers to them as cut or cutter quilts
So the mystery boxes are for sale?
They sold out.
Yes. They sold out. But we’ll do some more.
