Unit just crapped out...only half way through second winter....sad 125 bucks down the drain. I thought at least 5 years.

what are the beads inside the cap for?
I believe you are referring to our ceramic bead filter. This filter is a lifetime water filter that comes with the unit. The beads are used to filter the water of pollutants before transferring the water into mist.

Crapped out after 1 winter. Absolute junk. Buy a different brand.
The extended warranty is cheap and worth it. I've found their products to be better than others that I've bought, but I used one of mine for 2 years then it failed. I contacted the warranter and the full price was refunded to me. All I paid was the small fee for the warranty.
