10:20 I haven't heard this part in headphones until tonight... it's absolutely glorious. You MUST listen to the entire album in one go at least once; that's practically what it was designed for.
Jon Anderson's voice almost always brings me to tears. I think it's because he brings out the innocent child in me and I just can't take it because my life did not go the way I wanted it to and the pain is just too deep. I long for my innocence again.
Amazing and beautiful imagery backgrounding this masterpiece...YES is sublime personified and their music has saved my soul many times over the last 4 decades...Only now, years later do I truly understand what Jon and the guys were doing...Planting seeds of understanding the mysteries of life. Thank you for your upload, it has been in my Killer Music playlist since you uploaded it...Jon would be proud of you.
r.i.p. chris squire . i love yes . on this song from 11.11 for about 1 minute is out of this world to me . makes me cry , is so beautiful . thanks Chris.
My favorite song from Tales saw them at Mississippi River festival in 1976. They played Close to Edge with great dry ice effects. But later when the sun went down they played this with Alan Whites synthetic drum solo. It was so powerful and loud his drum kit raised high in the sky. I will never forget it. That's how great Yes is. FOND MEMORY! THEY WERE THE BEST.
Este ha sido uno de los mejores grupos que han existido, música SUPER bien elaborada, buenas letras. Se siente un gran respeto por la música. Es un delicia es escucharlos.
extraordinary piece of music amazing how modern it sounds funky and achingly beautiful and kanye west must owe yes royalties for the tribal drumming bit
Looking at these lyrics, it's pointless to try to interpret them with the brain. They can only be felt with the heart. However, the lines "Let them run. Let them chase. Let them hide between." brings to me a childhood memory of playing hide and seek. We would use the entire block and there was a discussion among adults about whether we should run between houses (they were close together). As children, we naturally wanted free range. For me, those words express the argument for freedom
From Close to the Edge to Relayer - Yes' music was the most complex, beautiful, soul satisfying ever recorded. Each album had it's strong and weak points, but ultimately each was magnificent in it's own way. Wakeman has commented on how there was a lot of filler on "Tales", there may have been some on parts, but there was NONE on Ritual. This is one of Yes' finest pieces.
PhilS1024 agreed. Awaken, however is one of the finest musical pieces written in the 20th century! How are these guys NOT in the hall of fame? Disgraceful.
Yep, still beautiful and still love it. I didn't remember reading your words -"TANTRAS: The ritual seven notes of freedom to learn and to know the ritual of life. Life is a fight between sources of evil and pure love. Alan and Chris present and relay the struggle out of which comes a positive source. Nous sommes du soleil. We are of the sun. We can see." So Beautiful and The evil forces are trying to dim the light...Sadly, too many are helping it...:(...
It comes out of writings that Jon Anderson got into during a time in the late 7-'s. Something like the eastern Yoganda's scriptures..or close to that...I have all my albums and it states on there..just dont want to drag them out. I was lucky enough to hear the Tales tour in the late 70;s live. They did all four movements that night..INCREDIBLE
Tough to say, Steve is one of the greatest Rock axman to ever play and being a fan of YES his soloing on Awaken or Gates of Delirium Or Sound Chaser. are some sick jams! : )...But, it is unlike anything ever recorded by anyone ; )
To me it means people are in the dark but there's an open door constantly if one can see it. Opportunity around ever corner. Like there is as many ways as there is individual persons that each is his own density, but there eventually all roads intersect to the Final Answer which is The Gate of Destiny...which is Home.
Much of what science has also done is to radify ancient enate & deep awareness of things modernity has forgotten or forsaken. > "What happened to this song we once knew so well" - "High the memory carries on..."
life shows doors all the time, for example, sometimes we see something and that brings us a different understanding.. that will open our eyes.. life itself is a fight., either we understand/see those doors or the don´t... That´s my call for that one.. however, Yes´ lyrics are very hard to understand
Yogananda writes that "God is love; His play for creation can be rooted only in love." Some of it was based on 'concepts' of the Yogi, but it's all rooted in the same One 'God', book of John says the same thing, 'God is Love'. Peace be with you.
Who are the gods? People's egos..let them run, let them chase, let them hide between..finding every reason in the world other than Truth for why we are what we are and why we do the things we do, and justifying it through our past beliefs.
I suppose we're all just guessing really. Also wanted to add that life would seem like a fight for those that that live like that. I still am not decided about the 'constant doors will open eyes' line though.
I guess for today, could change as often it does, it falls along the same lines of the song in Magnification, 'the gods have lost their way'..thoughts? P.S. I alternate Yes with ":Liquid Mind".
I think that all our interpretations are what is right for us, don't you? I have been wanting to be in his mind to get there, and eventually it all intersects it seems to me. What I'm saying is that my thoughts are only mine, but his thoughts are not my thoughts..what I Believe to be True is that as we conform to the Source of Thought all are IOne in the Same in the Grand Scheme of things. It just depends on if one is being schemed. Trust Speaks for itself. right?
the key word might be "seems"...like a fight. Either I choose to participate or not, there's a way out...if I "See" it. And usually it's always inside. Like the other song, the longest journey is inside. Most times, I don't find it and try not to say anything...if you can't say something nice don't say anything at all.
. Jon in an interview stated as such. "Young Christians see it." is right in the song. He said he wanted to record in the open nature environment, although I'll find other erroneous so called 'facts' out there on the net.
There are no 'gods' is the point in the Ritual. It's 'ancient'. The God in the bible is the same "God' everywhere, everything less is a personification and rationalize to explain the unexplainable before people knew what they were talking about. Much of which science has explained away.
"Hold me my love, hold me today call me round
Travel we say, wander we chchoose love tune...." everytime I hear that section I'm nearly in tears.
One of the best songs ever written... RIP Chris
Thank you to my friend that turned me on to YES back in in 1971, its been my all time favorite..and always will be til I die
...and yet, another magical musical journey!!!
Con YES vale una y mil inspiraciones. Esta composición es mortal. Gracias por el video, maravillosas imagenes.
10:20 I haven't heard this part in headphones until tonight... it's absolutely glorious. You MUST listen to the entire album in one go at least once; that's practically what it was designed for.
Ø so true it is bout the build up
Ø Yes.
A complete work of genius after listening to this very little excites, far ahead of its time .

ROB-IN-PHILLY Yes, I thank you for the meaningful comment: Yesmusic is so very important to many of us.
So deep so nice so free like a dream
so much of Yes' music has fallen on me like something from a past life, even on first listen
Some things just resonate in our heart and soul as if they are a part of us.

We are of the sun. You've done such a wonderful job with my favorite album
This is one of my most favorite songs by Yes off the Tales From Topographic Oceans album which I think is one of Yes's best albums thanks for posting
You sir are my lord, thanks very much

WHAT AN AMAZING ALBUM TALES FROM TOPAGRAPHIC OCEANS IS.
cinimod p.h At least people have stopped making fun of this music; I think that that nonsense has ceased.

ROB-IN-PHILLY thank you
ROB-IN-PHILLY Evil isn’t really the problem: the problems are stupidly and selfishness.
@@katemurphy1915 Amen to that Kate, Amen!
I thank you for the upload.
Génial tout simplement.
Absolutely magnificent song. Beautifully done video. Congratulations.
even @ 240p still great! thanks....what a masterpiece
We love when we 'play' could be, we love when we pray..LOVE in Prayer..this entire CD is about the bible pretty much.
It comes out of writings that Jon Anderson got into during a time in the late 7-'s. +Steve Campbell Found on a coffee table in a hotel in Tokyo.
+Andre Newcomb Apparently some people considered these guys capable of interpreting into music. And weren't they!
Es de agradecer la paciencia con la que elaboras tus videos. Grácias!!!
Squires base riffs, EPIC!!!
It's spelt bass!
Pardon music lovers, but are the final 2 odd minutes The greatest guitargasm ?
Tough to say, Steve is one of the greatest Rock axman to ever play and being a fan of YES his soloing on Awaken or Gates of Delirium Or Sound Chaser. are some sick jams! : )...But, it is unlike anything ever recorded by anyone ; )
most definitely
Yes. Since the first time I've heard it I've thought there is no better guitar solo. There are other great solos, but none better.
Just subscribed. I love the video's that accompany these beautiful songs

We are stardust
Un Ritual de una majestuosidad impresionante, jamas visto en RUclips!!

They knew! 😁

Venus and Jupiter have been dancing in the a.m. lately.
DeLa Soul The Grind Date brought me here.
Byron Benguche' Someone told me that that existed: thank you for pointing me in the correct direction

Stephen Sponsler 👍
At 3:33 . . . I remember that as a poster (a black light poster) that was labeled "Over-population".
At 14:40 vzq ought to know that those are Buddhist references.
I suppose we're all just guessing really. Also wanted to add that life would seem like a fight for those that that live like that. I still am not decided about the 'constant doors will open eyes' line though.
The music's total retain is the total mass retain.
Where did it come from ? The history of life , and what one makes of it .
must admit im a late convert to this i was reared on new wave indie but this is fucking brilliant neo classical
I guess for today, could change as often it does, it falls along the same lines of the song in Magnification, 'the gods have lost their way'..thoughts? P.S. I alternate Yes with ":Liquid Mind".
they just dont make music like this anymore..WTF
We can hope that someone does, eventually.
Dino Camella it wouldn’t make any money.
Dino Camella It’s not like this, but I recommend Mr. Grice Peters.
Dino Camella No one will ever be able to make music like this again.
There may be many gods ... but there is only one God.
I know. He told me.
you mean she? :)

ah ok. So do you think i'm close in my interpretation of the other lines then?
Mattydigs haha nice
Well, yes. But uhh what is your interpretation of the preceding lines? "Let them run, let them chase, Let them hide between" ?
ALLWAYS YES
sean head yup

famous intro
chris squire, fish out of water. and to the preacher, show me you,re god.
I think I See what you're Hearing in the transition.

Don't know how this got marked as spam. You make a fine point.
There exists no‘butchered’ song; I am a moron. I made an egregious mistake.
again?! okay
21:00
It's just "Ritual," without "The." NITPICK, NITPICK.
kinda clever isn't it
