I was hurting after the marathon yesterday so I didn’t get to meet Seth, but around mile 12 he ran by doing his cool down and the whole group I was running with yelled “Seth”. Great race yesterday and good luck in New York!

thanks! I did follow the 18week 55 mile peak plan from Pfitzinger. I'm sure having good shoes and staying injury free helped. Also lucked out and it was a perfect autumn morning the day of the race, I also realize maybe I may have some natural potential for it as well, not to say it wasn't difficult though.
Also used a Garmin pace pro plan on race day. So I knew exact splits to hit for each km adjusted for elevation. And how many seconds overall I was behind or ahead. Let me focus on just the current km when running and then just trust that I would hold our till the end.

Amazing improvement, huge congrats. Low volume training has worked great for me as well. I BQ’d on my 1st marathon and just re-qualified in Boston on 3/days/wk and only hitting mid-30mi/wk in my training, but I’m a lot older than you so probably comparable to your training age-graded. You obviously trained and raced very smartly. Martha

It's a fun way to keep my training on point and makes me feel like I'm in the race too! 20km yesterday in a VERY windy Toronto. Shout out to all the folks running the Toronto Marathon yesterday too!

Seth, last night on WXYZ channel 7, in Detroit, They had a great shot of you on their 6:00pm broadcast. You were well centered at the starting line as the gun was going off. Congrats on the race and I hope yo come back and run the full Detroit Marathon, when the boarder opens back up. To run over the Ambassador Bridge in to Canada as the sun is rising is awesome. Then returning to the US via the only underwater mile during a marathon anywhere is both very cool and very hot. Those that have run it know what I mean!

This week's goal is to run the first 18km in my life.
12 weeks ago started running and barely was able to run 5k, stuck to my program, and now I am preparing for my first 1/2 marathon in Lisbon.
My pace has increased from 6:30 per km to 5:27 per km, nothing impressive but taking step by step turning that doorknob.

Last spring, I decided to get out and run, but I knew that if I didn't have a goal then I would give up like so many times before. I had only ever completed a couple of 5K's, but I decided to train for a half marathon. I came across your channel as I was researching running shoes, and I've been keeping up with your channel ever since. Your videos have helped me train and fuel properly. I completed my first half marathon last year, and you inspired me to go for the full marathon. Well, I ran my first marathon yesterday (same day as your Detroit half), and I met my goal of sub-4 hours. Thank you for all that you do to inspired runners of all experience levels to get out and tackle their goals. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

It was great meeting you briefly in the Wave A start of the race, Seth! I arrived to the start line about 30 minutes before the horn, which for this race is pretty normal, hoping to be able to chat with you briefly. I knew I wasn't going to be able to do the post-race meet-up jog, so this was my only shot. 20 minutes to go. 10 minutes to go. No Seth. National Anthem. No Seth. With each passing minute, the wave filling up with more and more runners, making it harder to spot you. With 5 minutes to go, I gave up and told myself I missed my chance and I had to focus. Suddenly, I see this short guy in a white singlet in front of me cutting across the wave of runners, getting to the front row. Even with four minutes before the start of the race, when most runners are getting in the zone (which is to be expected), you were kind enough to let me say hello and pause for a brief chat. To me, just those 15 seconds where you let me tell you how much I enjoyed your content, that spoke volumes of the type of person you are. All smiles, laughing, saying "Thank You" with a race moments away. What I didn't get to say is the reason I enjoy your content is priorities: Family comes before running. True Love + your boys > running. Thanks for all you do for the sport and DGR, and I pray you have a great race in New York.

So was the aim to run this HM as fast as he could on the day or was it some sort of marathon effort/pace test he can't so easily do back home.

I have my first 50K next this coming weekend. I've covered the distance a few times at looped/time based events, but this is my first actual 50K. An unexpected major surgery popped up for my wife last week, so now instead of using this as a tune up race for a 100k in January, this might be the only race I get for a while! QD: Complete a 50 miler, which I did back in May. Haven’t done a huge amount worthy of note since, but I can remain content as it was a privilege to experience and have my body see me through it

My goal for tomorrow is to get back into speedwork. I've been running the whole pandemic, tons of mileage and ultra distance. But I've lacked actual dedicated speedwork. It's well overdue, time to pay my dues to the speedwork demon 😈!
First test - real hill repeats on a 50-100m hill.

QD - after a great 2020 of running, I suffered an Achilles injury in Feb ‘21. 5 months later I started to run again and try to regain my fitness. I’m doing ok. I just ran a trail half that kicked my butt. A target right now is NYC ‘22.

QD: my one goal for this week is to develop a training plan and iron out the next 30 weeks leading up to my first marathon. So a planned out 10-12 week base building phase followed by an 18-20 week marathon training block. The planning is always the toughest part of any training block for me….come on lotto tickets, daddy wants a full time training coach!😂

When you don't have time to shower and change after a race what do you do? I think I would smell something awful if I just hopped on the plane😃
QotD: get my last tune up long run in of over 24miles this week! Moab Trail Marathon we're coming for you!

QD, my goal that will be completed this week is to stretch, flex and heal my left knee and right calf that both went wrong during last weekends PNC Atlanta 10 miler. Very, very frustrating, discouraging and depressing after a solid training block and with a half coming up on Thanksgiving.

QD: For this week, I’m going to stay on top of my morning and bedtime mobility work. Nothing crazy or formal, just 5-10min to loosen up first thing, then a quick stretch and foam roll before hopping into bed.
I’ve been laying on some faster mileage prepping for CIM in December. Less than 7 weeks out; FOCUS!

: I'm building up my Yasso 800 reps, and this week is eight. I hit my target on all seven last week, and I want to keep up that momentum. I'm adding one rep per week until I reach 10, which will come just in time for my taper for the Route 66 Half Marathon in Tulsa!
