About the Oscar like corpse: In Dark Souls 1, Oscar had an entire cut storyline where he was supposed to do the opposite of what you did. If you linked the fire, he'd call you a pawn of the gods. If you became the dark lord, he'd call you kaathe's servant. The untended graves with his corpse missing and the cemetery of ash with his corpse present is a subtle nod to the cut storyline.
PogD7 i guess its because in the cemetery of ash, when you (kinda) get resurrected, that oscar lookalike is dead. and in the untended graves, when you arrive that oscar lookalike is long gone (or yet to arive) its just a guess so dont take it seriously lol
Having the fire keeper react to your gestures is so cute and wholesome, you could just sit there before going to a boss fight and be like "this is my refueling before the boss"
The Dark Souls Series as a whole is truly a Masterpiece in Videogame History. People say that, but I just can't get on with them. I've started the first one probably half a dozen times, play for a couple of hours and realize I'm not having fun, so I stop. And no, the difficulty is not the problem
@@rubykelly2305 the first one is kinda shitty, the combat is way too sluggish in the beginning, and most of the difficulty is because if you've never played it before you are going to fall for most of its traps and/or not know how to deal with the bosses/enemies... I like the idea of stars showing up at the last boss fight. Throughout the series it is really only emphasized that the sun and moon are the only heavenly bodies that matter to humanity's survival. Most times, when looking up form all points in the game, the anor londo, lothric castle, and even the sun is covering the sky, as if there is nothin else that matters. But here in the last twilight of the world, where the sun barely shines anymore, the stars appear, to come witness this last final battle between two nobodies, stuck at the end of of the world.
It also somewhat lines up with what the firekeeper says during the end of fire ending, "one day tiny flames will dance along the darkness". Every night location in dark souls I can remember didn't have visible stars, but here in the end of the world, at the first flame's weakest and as the sun's light wanes, you can see stars. What are the odds it's a glimpse of the coming age of dark?
@@Deadput Same, the Ashen One is meant to be interchangeable because time loops, regardless of your ending choice. Gael is a slave knight, which means he has no claim to anything like glory or possessions beyond what he carries with him.
@@schmebulockjizz literally one of the main points in the story of dark souls is that you play as a downtrodden nobody that is completely worthless. A "nameless, accursed undead". Were you even paying attention?
That is exactly the case. It's said that he not only used his "eye" rings to turn the outrider knights into beasts, but he experimented with similar magic on the denizens of the city he rules over by the time we get to him, some of them resulting in the three large beasts we end up dealing with (the one on the bridge, and the other two within the below-ground channel where they guard the bonfire and covenant before anor londo.
And irthyll has the big church like the grand cathedral in yharnam so pontiff sulyvahn is basically the Laurence of ds3 since he was the cause of nearly everything.
I love the fact that you can hear abyss watchers fighting, but as soon as player enters, they are like “shit, that’s him again, pretend to be dead everyone”
I just noticed this, but at 26:48 you can see Yhorm attempt to swat you away during his riposte animation before you hit him in the head a second time. I thought that was pretty cool attention to detail, as I feel like it shows that he is not as affected by your riposte compared to other enemies and bosses, since he is a giant and therefore probably stronger.
It says a lot about Dark Souls when one can play the game multiple times and yet miss most of these amazing discoveries. Thank you for this fantastic vid!

Here's a few more little facts that I think are cool: The SOC bonfire, the Firelink Bonfire, and the Coiled Sword use the same model sword The Dancer and Vordt can be riposted after enough damage done to their heads The area leading to the Dancer (where the lance knight and the sword knight patrol) the lighting is different there, making colors look less vibrant and more muted Despite Storm Ruler working for Yhorm, it does not work for other giant-type enemies, only Yhorm During the boss fight with Yhorm, you do not use FP while using Storm Ruler The collar of Lapps helm disappears for other armor sets, making it so the head moves. This does not apply with no armor and the collar stays The Arch-Tree that makes up the SOC arena is actually the same Tree that Gywn and the others crawled out of Silver Knights leave corpses, Black Knights do not Silver Knights mimic Ornstien by using his two handed heavy attack Gael can be riposted, but only after a headshot from a throwing knife or arrow The Giant Archer uses the same voice lines as the Giant Blacksmith, just tone and pitch shifted back to it's more original voice Gargoyles with heads can be riposted, gargoyles with no heads can't The Murky Longstaff has a Murky Hand Scythe fastened to it Some enemies can be pushed back when you roll into them (Undead Villagers, Murk Men, Small Crabs) The scream of the Lycanthrope can be heard in Bloodborne Rotten Flies take double damage if they are flying There are numerous Berserk references: (Carthus Worm, Wheel Skeletons, Artorias' pose, Merc Armor and Watcher Armor) Gundyr is modeled off of King Doran from Demon's Souls; his armor even backs up this theory Ludleth has no legs Ludleth with dream of the time he linked the fire Ludleth, despite being on his throne, will warn the player and suggest they link the fire The Transposing Kiln is in the shape of the Dark Sign Attacking Friede or Vinheim causes them to disappear The area you fight Donyl is Priscilla's boss arena The Painter cannot die After you give the Firekeeper the eyes, she will begin to examine her burned hands Some enemies are hostile to each other (Black Knight and Demon-Ghrus) The Deacon's chanting are actually pleas for help in reverse The SOC has a unique grab attack with the Lance form The SOC can use sword attacks with the Staff form Gael's Soul is actually a humanity sprite that's been infected with the Dark Soul Gael's Soul is also remarkably similar to Manus' Soul Only the Tall Deacons with create the curse fog Using a weapon art shield without a weapon in the main hand will cause it to a bash, similar to kirks shield
@@schmebulockjizz What you need to understand is that Humanity is what keeps a person human in mind and body. Somce Gael's humanity was touched by the very source of humanity, it tried to bond and merge with it, corrupting his form in the process. The level of detail in this game, and the whole souls series is insane, thank you for the excelent video, very entertaining. May the flames guide thee.
The discription of the Titanite Slab is literally Darksouls 1's Opening cinematic. The 1st paragraph tells the tale of the old Arch Trees and the Ever-lasting Dragons. The 2nd half speaks of the Fire that produced the 3 Lord souls and the battle of Gwyn and his allies against the Dragons. The last half mentions the Age of Fire, Gwyn's age, then the dark age when humanity ascends.
Also Sulyvahn’s nasty because he’s programmed to pretty much sidestep any ranged attack, be it spells, items or even prism stones, makes it an absolute chore to fight him as a caster.
Here is another one: The spirits that burst out of Gael are what draws the lightning after it gets in contact with the ground, the spot gets marked by a stain of darkness. Also this lightning itself will damage Gael a little. What does this tell us lore-wise? Is it that dark is so heavy it attracks light? And so light afterall does tend to darkness.
Lucy Briggs-Owen. An excellent performance. The quiet resolve gesture in her questline after she leaves the catacombs and her friend behind. The item description hinting that Anri was related to Oscar. Truly an amazing character.
6:14 the Evangelist is a reference from a faith-crazed character from Berserk, and its "Book Smash" attack is a reference from his introduction scene, where he yells "REPENT" while smashing some random dude's face with a bible, in what's probably the greatest meme in the whole manga so far. Edit: The character's name is Mozgus, in case you wanna check it out.
Estus Soup is also effected by the Estus Ring. Also, it's not the plunge that staggers the big crabs, it's a set amount of poise damage. If you plunge with a light weapon (rapier, dagger, straight sword), it won't stagger the crabs.
@@iota-09 exactly like whats shown at 43:29. just let a summon land on its head and profit. I called it twin demon cause i dont think waiting outside the fog gate till 2nd phase is a really viable strat, and demon prince tends to move around alot so it would be much harder to land on him.

The screaming corpses scared the absolute life out of me the first time, thanks to xbox clip recording I managed to catch my reaction. Which was pretty much panic swinging
One of my favorite things with Friede's fight is if you die while married or as Lord of Hollows (Not champion of Ash), she'll tell you to return to Yuria and your kingdom. I would label the theme as Gwyn's theme playing, as I think it references Gwyn's power coursing the Lord of Cinder. Anri showing up at the end to bend the knee for you. I'm unsure if buying Anri's armor from shrine maiden will take the armor away during the cutscene. Loved this video, i will now go throw rocks at Horace from the bridge.
for those who were looking for actual proof that gael becomes hollow in his 2nd phase, rather than just seeing the cutscene again, he becomes weak to the hollowslayer greatsword.
28:01 I remember perfectly this, because once when I was fighting the dancer I threw a firebomb, Wich missed, putting fire on a chair. 10 minutes later the whole arena was in fire, it was beautiful.
@@kayleen__1620 there's even more: during your fight with the dancer, she sets the arena on fire until the whole arena is burning, but when she dies, she explodes in a pile of ash, extinguishing the flames, the room gets dark again. these games are really something.
5:02 From what I remember, the fact that you roll backwards if you block a heavy attack was already a thing back in DS1. A good example are the attacks of a Taurus Demon.
It's freaking terrifying, after all this years, how much gloomy, dramatic and beautiful details there is in those games. Bravo for gathering this video.
I absolutely love ds3, the attention to detail is amazing and the whole religious and corrupted theme of the game is what grabbed a hold of me, I especially love boreal valley because of its churches, tall towers and the winter midnight vibe. All the throw backs to the previous games are great as well
"The demon prince's arena is Firelink Shrine (DS1)" whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat??? literally mind blown also the Halflight arena being the same as Aldritch's and O&S's really shocked me, I can't believe I never noticed it!
I knew it looks similar, I just never realized that it actually had the same design. It's not the same room but it makes sense that both cathedrals would have the same exact design considering Gwyn's influence on both Anor Londo and the Ringed City.
The 2nd bonfire in that area is called Earthern Peak Ruins and is a direct connection to Earthen Peak from DarkSouls 2 in the Harvest Valley where you fight the Covetous Demon and Mytha, The Baneful Queen to reach the Iron Keep... The area transitions from DarkSouls 3, to 2 and then to 1 when you land in the boss arena which is the original Firelink Shrine
I know it's been a long time, but Here's a little secret i found out, if you give loreta's bone to the "bird" on top of the firelink shrine, you get a ring of sacrifice in exchange
10:40 It said that "Bloodbite ring reduces the bleed damage", but then in the video it was shown that more damage was dealt with the ring on. I am confused.
@@LakeofMud You can also see that in the second video the bleed bar is significantly longer, which indicates the bloodbite ring is on, so I don't think that videos are switched
how about this? Its actually possible to ripost Gael. You need to stagger him with a good hit in the head and be near enought to make the critical hit. Also, qhen Gael emanates dark souls to attack you, the souls what land in ground become marks to call thunders. And something epic I saw but I still didn't did, the spell to generate a wall against magic can deflect Aldritch arrows.
@@LakeofMud Sry, maybe i came across a bit hostile. It's pretty obvious that with 183 discoveries not every discoviere can be a huge secret. I knew a lot things already, but i also learned a thing here and ther. Great video, pls make more!

Knack 2 Baby I don’t think they would sell the company, they probably make a lot of money off of their games, and I don’t think they’re owned by anybody.
Even though I know a lot of these facts, watching them all demonstrated and listening to the music and everything has been so much fun. I've also watched the DS1 and BB videos, and the whole series was just great. Thanks so much for putting in all this effort!
I can’t believe I’m still finding out new things about these games, this is really impressive. A few other weird things I’ve found: Many large bosses like Gael, Oceiros and I think Dancer can be riposted if headshot, Dancer also recoils if you block her long thrust attack with high enough stability, Lycanthropes can be parried, the camera automatically unlocks when Lothric finishes healing Lorian (really don’t understand why), you take no fall damage landing in the Dreg Heap swamp, and the Dragonslayer Armour in Ringed City has a unique shield charge move.
Didn't know the Dragonslayer Armour thing! Also, I suspect anything to do with a boss unlocking the camera (like in Bloodborne with Gascoigne/Kos etc.) is usually because the boss "entity" has been switched-out with another one from below the map. In this case, presumably when Lothric is healing Lorian it is the Lorian-only model and it switches back to the one where they are together afterwards.
The discovery at 10:38 about the Bloodbite Ring appears to be wrong. Until I can test it properly, please just ignore it!
The crystal sage can be grabbed with the "sacred flame" pyromancy. Some larger enemies can as well, like winged knights.

About the Oscar like corpse:
In Dark Souls 1, Oscar had an entire cut storyline where he was supposed to do the opposite of what you did. If you linked the fire, he'd call you a pawn of the gods. If you became the dark lord, he'd call you kaathe's servant. The untended graves with his corpse missing and the cemetery of ash with his corpse present is a subtle nod to the cut storyline.
My brain = reduced to atoms
Love that fact man
Can you explain a bit more how is it a nod
PogD7 i guess its because in the cemetery of ash, when you (kinda) get resurrected, that oscar lookalike is dead. and in the untended graves, when you arrive that oscar lookalike is long gone (or yet to arive) its just a guess so dont take it seriously lol
I thought that was in the game
It's too bad they cut that. That's a badass little piece of side story that just wasn't put in the game for whatever reason.
Having the fire keeper react to your gestures is so cute and wholesome, you could just sit there before going to a boss fight and be like "this is my refueling before the boss"
There’s someone else in a soulsborne game that can do that.
The Dark Souls Series as a whole is truly a Masterpiece in Videogame History.
You can tell be the MASSIVE amount of details you will probably never even recognize until you spent thousands of hours exploring and trying things out.
From Software is truly unique in the industry.
They put so much love in their games its so incredible to see.
Not just love, but glitches and exploits on top of that. (Sarcasm)
People say that, but I just can't get on with them. I've started the first one probably half a dozen times, play for a couple of hours and realize I'm not having fun, so I stop. And no, the difficulty is not the problem
@@rubykelly2305 Perhaps it's just not for you, just because the game isn't for you doesn't mean they didn't put a lot of effort into creating it.
Stop echoeing them as nobodies. The fanbase is wrong.
@@schmebulockjizz I don't see anything that makes Gael and the player character "somebodies"
@@Deadput Same, the Ashen One is meant to be interchangeable because time loops, regardless of your ending choice. Gael is a slave knight, which means he has no claim to anything like glory or possessions beyond what he carries with him.

The irithyl hounds having human skulls probably means they were humans at some point. Sulyvon did cause people to turn into beasts

Thanks a lot for posting!
Here's a few more little facts that I think are cool:
The SOC bonfire, the Firelink Bonfire, and the Coiled Sword use the same model sword
The Dancer and Vordt can be riposted after enough damage done to their heads
The area leading to the Dancer (where the lance knight and the sword knight patrol) the lighting is different there, making colors look less vibrant and more muted
Despite Storm Ruler working for Yhorm, it does not work for other giant-type enemies, only Yhorm
During the boss fight with Yhorm, you do not use FP while using Storm Ruler
The collar of Lapps helm disappears for other armor sets, making it so the head moves. This does not apply with no armor and the collar stays
The Arch-Tree that makes up the SOC arena is actually the same Tree that Gywn and the others crawled out of
Silver Knights leave corpses, Black Knights do not
Silver Knights mimic Ornstien by using his two handed heavy attack
Gael can be riposted, but only after a headshot from a throwing knife or arrow
The Giant Archer uses the same voice lines as the Giant Blacksmith, just tone and pitch shifted back to it's more original voice
Gargoyles with heads can be riposted, gargoyles with no heads can't
The Murky Longstaff has a Murky Hand Scythe fastened to it
Some enemies can be pushed back when you roll into them (Undead Villagers, Murk Men, Small Crabs)
The scream of the Lycanthrope can be heard in Bloodborne
Rotten Flies take double damage if they are flying
There are numerous Berserk references: (Carthus Worm, Wheel Skeletons, Artorias' pose, Merc Armor and Watcher Armor)
Gundyr is modeled off of King Doran from Demon's Souls; his armor even backs up this theory
Ludleth has no legs
Ludleth with dream of the time he linked the fire
Ludleth, despite being on his throne, will warn the player and suggest they link the fire
The Transposing Kiln is in the shape of the Dark Sign
Attacking Friede or Vinheim causes them to disappear
The area you fight Donyl is Priscilla's boss arena
The Painter cannot die
After you give the Firekeeper the eyes, she will begin to examine her burned hands
Some enemies are hostile to each other (Black Knight and Demon-Ghrus)
The Deacon's chanting are actually pleas for help in reverse
The SOC has a unique grab attack with the Lance form
The SOC can use sword attacks with the Staff form
Gael's Soul is actually a humanity sprite that's been infected with the Dark Soul
Gael's Soul is also remarkably similar to Manus' Soul
Only the Tall Deacons with create the curse fog
Using a weapon art shield without a weapon in the main hand will cause it to a bash, similar to kirks shield

The humanity is a fragment of the dark soul.
@@schmebulockjizz What you need to understand is that Humanity is what keeps a person human in mind and body. The one about the dancers opening being reversed laughter is so interesting.
