Wonder why he doesn’t kill evil husbands today? Poor Tamar and all the women who have had no say in who they marry. Judah thought she was a prostitute and propositioned her?? And then wanted to have her burned??? Why are the women stoned and burned, but the men can do anything with hookers and it’s okay? And that’s not wicked? It’s disgusting.

I swear this story confused me so much the first time I read it, I wondered what was the significance of it? Even now, I'm still kinda confused as to why God would let things play out tht way? Anyway, I'm not God and it happened.

It was not stated Tamar was a Cannanite, she must have been of the correct lineage, in fact Judah admitted this when he said she was more righteous than himself, who had married a Cannanite woman.
Just the same as Noah was righteous in his generations. Of course the religions of the world do not want to go down that line of reasoning but prefer to find the usual worldy explanations

Judah's sons by his "Canaanitess" wife (1Chr 2:3 KJV), daughter of "Canaanite", Shuah (Gen 38:2)... Er, Onan, and Shelah, were 'mamzerim' (Deu 23:2)... progeny of a forbidden union per Abraham (Gen 24:3); Isaac (Gen 28:1-4); God/Moses (Deu 7:1-5); a "great trespass" per Ezra (Ezra 9): Judah was disowned (Mal 2:11-12). NO MAMZERIM HEIRS TO THE ABRAHAMIC COVENANT, EVER.

Judah should have found a wife like Ta’mar for himself, instead of a Canaanite. This all happened because of Judah screwing up and trying to inject a Canaanite into the lineage to Messiah.
Had Ta’mar not done what she did to correct it, She’lah would have been eliminated as well.
The sons of Ju’dah might not have been that ‘ evil ‘, but were evil in the sight of the Lord being of Canaanite lineage in ‘ position ‘ to be heirs to the messiah.
