I just received this same rice cooker yesterday, just in a smaller size, along with a 5lb bag of Nishiki brown rice. I've always liked the taste of brown rice but never had a rice cooker that made it correctly. It's always been too tough and chewy. I made 2 cups of it last night and I was blown away. It was seriously the best rice I've ever had in my life.
At first I was worried if spending $215 for my Zojirushi NP-GBC05XT was going to be worth it compared to a $25 cheapo rice maker and after last night I'm 100% satisfied it's worth the money. Even if you need a larger version for larger servings it's worth it. *** Make sure you get the IH (Induction Heating) to get perfectly even cooking.

One very good question. I can see a lot of starch coming off white rice, but tonight I am doing whole grain brown rice mix from Lundberg Wild Blend. As I rinse it, there is no starch coming off. So do I need to soak whole grain wild rice or just cook it?
I tried my NP-HCC10, 5.5 cup induction rice cooker the first time and I did only one cup of white rice last night. I put it on regular and found the rice a bit dry.

Hi, thanks for the question. My personal experience you don't need to soak the rice either white or brown. Just clean it using colander. How I do the rice cleaning is squeezing or rubbing the rice with both hands 3X, that's it. Doesn't matter if you see the starch coming out or not, just make sure to select the right mode on the rice cooker. Our rice is perfectly cooked.. 😃

i would like to order one. Sadly im from Europe and there is no distributor that im aware of. So the only way is to order an old model or just buy a Cuckoo. Ill probably buy a Cuckoo, i heard its even better then Zujirushi.
Thx for the review. Btw none of the parts on are dishwasher safe. So clean them by hand. Also the label in fron says to remove before use. :D
