I ve been going to Thailand for last 15 years and in that time I have never seen an NUFC football top on sale in local sports shops, this year that has changed you now see NUFC football tops sitting next to Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd and Man City tops. PIF are very shrewd and patient. As time passes we will get there.
You should have looked harder I still have my Newcastle United Northern Rock shirt which I bought from Mike's shopping Mall in Pattaya in 2010. Also I wore my a Newcastle shirt when I was in Bangkok in 2008. During the protests my flight was delayed so the Thai government paid for my 5 Star hotel. While I was there a smartly dressed middle aged member of staff instantly recognised my Newcastle United shirt.
@@darkbydesign1031 marketing, we are classified as a big team now alongside the likes of arsenal, chelsea, man utd, city etc. which brings with it similar revenue of course which allows us to spend similar money without breaking psr.
They did tell us sales first before signings but, what the hell is taking all the time to get Miggy over the line, supposedly the deal with Charlotte was ok'd , for over a fortnight it's his old mates at Atlanta, do we have to hold his hand till he gets there ?
It annoys me when I hear a lot of fans saying the club aren't doing anything and Paul Mitchell is a waste of space, they know absolutely nothing about whats happening at the club. There's zero chance the club aren't working on a strategy to build and progress, people just want signings now as it's exciting, but not necessarily the best approach long term. We're owned by one of, if not the most ambitious owners in world football, there's no way they will allow us to not do anything, it will happen, but we have to do it smartly, and properly, fans just want to see signings, the club wants to make the right signings
@nolslifegren yip, that's only 12 months worth of time, we're trying to fix 15 years of mike Ashley management where he was giving long contracts to Hayden, Ritchie, Hendrick, Lewis etc, some of these players are still ours, this takes a long time to fix. Then add onto PSR restrictions that we have to work within then add into this a long term strategy, it's going to take time to fix all these 3 things. I'm really struggling to understand why people can't understand this. What are you expecting we do in January now other than bring in players purley for cover which then impacts our ability to then spend big in the summer? Of course it's a risk, but it's a calculated risk being made by people that know a lot more about what they're doing than we do
3 windows no signings, no squad depth. We have done remarkable to get where we are in the league now but all it's going to take is one or 2 injuries then we will slide straight back down. Call that ambitious cos I certainly don't. On top of that since Amanda left the club the silence from above is absolutely deafening.
Plenty of thought Dave. I understand, to the best I can, the introduction of FFP PSR and such, to financial protect clubs. But, I also thought it was the introduce an element of fairness TO the league? However, it remains heavily skewed to protect and propel the cartel? And, had it not been for for 1 poor penalty decision with PSG, we'd have remained in the CL! Hindsight I know! Great pod 👏
I suppose the Pen for PSG just shows the risks of these investment gambles. In the lap of the gods to get through the league stage of CL, nevermind the possibility of being in the group stage from hell....

Surely the PL cant stop those if fair market value has been determined? I don't buy this waiting until after the city case BS. Ryiad Air are going to be pumping 40 million annually for sponsorship and naming rights into Athletico Madrid it just doesn't make sense?
@Robert.Sheard would they really though as there out put for goals and assists are not that great. If we wait until the summer then I think we would have better options
We need to make low cost signings from obscure leagues or south america costing less than £20m. It is possible. The scouting is key. We dont need to go for big names.
@kathchandler8189 Remember Guehi and £70m. That's what I mean. Theres also been constant links with Mbuemo who could cost in excess of £50m. Historically we have spent big on players like Tonali and Isak. So we have before. Time for a change of focus. Low cost development players with a high ceiling.
The question about selling a star is about re investment. If selling Isak funded the purchase of say Cunha, Mbuemo and say Guehi would that make us weaker or stronger.
Would Cunha, Mbuemo and Guehi want to go to a club that is selling good players? Surely they want a step up and go to a club that keeps its best players. Im not saying you are wrong Im just saying Mbeumo should have his pick of clubs so why go to a constrained Newcastle? He will stay in London I reckon and go to Arsenal
@Boemher890 the fact he may choose arsenal over Newcastle is valid all the time, not just because we'd be selling a player. I think players also understand the constraints of PSR and realise that we're in a time of clubs needing to trade. PIF seem unwilling, for whatever reason, to sponsor the shit out of everything so player sales seems the most logical way to progress, as long as recruitment is bang on. On a side note the 1 thing we have to offer mbeumo over arsenal is more regular football. Soon as Saka is back he could become a squad player. Unless they decide to use him as a striker. They were just 3 players I picked too. Nit really who I'd suggest we tried to sign. Was more just to get the point across that if we received silly money it wouldn't/shouldn't be seen as the end of the world. Wouldn't have to be Isak either. Of our so called star players I'd say Joelinton is the one I'd be less aggrieved about going. Plus his book value must be nearly non existent by now.
So how are other clubs who have spent as much or more allowed to still buy like Nottingham forest and chelsea, here is what they need to do, look at the sheets and players like almiron, Wilson, kelly, longstaff, kraft, and more sitting on the bench or injured constantly! Saying should we get rid of these players who we play 150k a week. Howe did some odd deal with his old team to fet kelly who is horrendous. They can not buy 8 players in the summer to cover the crap that are old and the other crap. So what should they do tell PSR to shove it.
FFP as in Financial Fair Play. Fair Play basically doesn't exist. If you have debts of say over 500million and have say poorer owners where is the fair play in teams who fall under this bracket being able to spend more than teams who have nowhere near that debt and have far richer owners its an absolute farce. Basically if you are an established club or have been recently successful you are being looked after. Whereas ckubs who are trying to challenge and haven't been recently successful but have the money are being hindered as in it's near impossible to challenge year on year.
Risk and reward. Zero risk in summer and Jan window = no progression = no 4th or 5th place finish = less revenue next season = losing Blue chip players this summer. Nice work Mitchell
Problem is, it’s a no win situation. If they gamble and get a champions league place they’ll probably still have to sell at least one top player before the June deadline.
I would rather wait until mid June and pull another teams pants down who are over the PSR limits. I never again want to have our club bent over as we were last June with Minteh/Anderson/Vlachodimos. Remember, that list nearly included the name Gordon.
It definitely should have, but at this point it doesn't really matter if the league is moving to a system based on a percentage of revenue instead of rolling losses over three years.
as I understand it we have -74m + -70m + 27m profit =-117m. share injection 15m =-102m so we are under by 3m. 74m loss drops off so we sit at -28m. Obviously may be figures we don't know yet, Sponsors hopefully, we end up in PL etc. Then we are on squad ratio of 70% but more interestingly Anchoring, which is 5x media money for bottom club. Which Man Utd & City are challenging. PSR should not be revenue based. Anchoring is a far fairer method. In terms of financial stability, owners could put operating costs in escrow for 5-10 years at the beginning, so if they leave the club is stable for a new ownership.
You don’t retain the best players by not improving the team in a position of strength. It’s not true the club doesn’t have headroom. Guehi money was there, Miggy is leaving for £10m that will be amortised. So stop with the nonsense
All i see is inactivity and the club using good old PSR to beat the fans with at the end of this window it will show who is the more ambitious between us and Nottingham Forest as they currently occupy a position in the league that we are striving for
Well wheres the new players we desperately need? We all know what we need to cement our spot in the champions league a striker a right winger a goalie and a centre half
This might sound overly simplistic, but why don't PIF just deposit £1 billion into the Toons bank account and challenge the restriction of trade (as a plc) in the courts. With £1 billion in the bank, the EPL can hardly argue "sustainability" and protecting the club ànd fans. The real reason the takeover got the go-ahead in the first place wasn't because of any deal regarding the piracy issue with Qatar. The real reason was that Nufc is a plc, and the EPL was effectively trying to impose a restriction of trade on a plc and breaking UK competition laws. Nufc were about to win their case in the high courts with that DeMarco brief doing what he always does, win. So, rather than "letting the cat out the bag" regarding plc's and competition laws, the EPL ran their piracy cover story and as usual, you 2nd rate cowardly, supposed journalists lapped it up like the lazy bunch you are. If you bother to do some homework and investigative journalism, you'd know this already. This is the same reason that the European Super League will eventually come to fruition. The FA & EPL are powerless to stop it as long as the clubs are all plc's ànd therefore all are protected by european or british restriction of trade laws. When that time comes, the first sign will be a belated attempt by the EPL to scrap psr and ffp restrictions, hoping to appease the clubs before it's too late. Of course, the horse will have already bolted by that point. On a personal note, I want to add that you and your ilk make me sick with your repetition of the msm narratives and just going along with it, frightened to rock the boat, ******g grow a pair.
