    The first Miele machine I got in 2003, in the end my ex-partner got it but it’s still working perfectly after 19 years. The replacement is only 3 years old but so far just like the older one. What I would say, however, is the TwinDos feature I find rather pointless and annoying - it needs constant cleaning and the liquids are really limited - most people would assume one bottle is a wash and the other a softener - it’s not! They’re both wash solution - so if you want to soften you still have to pour it into the drawer. Having lived with it I’d say it’s unnecessary. As for guarantees - Miele did offer and sometimes Stil do, a 10 year guarantee (not a plan) both the machines we got had 10 years.

    I am subscribed to your channel for year and really love your videos.. It seems I'm not the only one addicted to the washing machines and home appliances haha... I really love the way you present us every appliance.. It's like you focus on what I care and I often hear my thoughts on devices.. And believe me after so many years I am not looking forward for basic specification of a device... Everyone who is interested in technology need a deep detailed review...
    I have been watching the washing machine evolution as a child (in the 1990's) and after so many years my conclusion about the brands --> leads me to Miele and AEG. I know about AEG we hear many complaints about quality but it is not accurate 100%.. It depends from the model you choose and price as in every brand.... Of course I am sure that Miele quality is at the top. But still a 600€ Miele Washing Machine is not the same with a 2000€ priced one. If you can't afford a Miele BUT still want a top range/top technology yet affordable washing machine just choose AEG... It's like the cheaper option of Miele (while still being Premium & without compromises on quality) between the whole range of washing machines in the market...
    Now about the washing machine.. I am really looking forward to buy a complete Miele wash set (a washing machine and a dryer). After so many year I have seen almost every washing machine out there but I think that the biggest marketing point of Miele is the honeycomb drum (it still is an innovation after so many years and it's really lovely). Of course I think that the ProTex drum of AEG (introduced in 2013) is also a competing drum to the Honeycomb... It's very well designed engineered that really cares for the clothes. And sometimes I think that AEG copied the honeycomb drum (puting the water holes in circles and the circles are placed in a honeycomb pattern).!! For someone that is interested in washing machine is obvious.
    But for some reason I ALWAYS SAY that the drum OF EVERY COMPANY (including Miele) seems much smaller compared to AEG.. I dont know why but i am sure the drums are smaller... They may be rated to be 9 10 12kg but the drum of AEG is actually bigger... It's not about the size of the drum opening... The whole drum of AEG is deeper and goes far to the back of the washing machine... I am sure that companies have a different way to measure the drum capacity... But I have to note here that the AEG offers big drums ONLY on their expensive machines (the 8000 & 9000's series)... If you see an AEG 6000 series with a 9KG drum it is actually SMALLER that the 9kg drum on a 9000's machines... But talking about other drums, you are a specialist for the washing machine and you know that for sure... Just compare a 12kg LG and you'll see the drum is way smaller than AEG for some reason...
    Now talking about the Technology equipped in AEG and Miele. Both companies present us top quality and top technology products. I don't know who copy the ideas from whom. But I will give the technology advantage to AEG.. From 2013 (with the presentation of Lavamat L98699FL2) till today they keep surprising us with devices with great design and technology never imagines before on any other brand... For example the AEG 9000series with SoftWater Technology is the top innovation of all kind (and really preserves the clothes whatever the water hardness in your area)... The 8000's series OkoMix Technology which premixes the detergent or softener so that it's activated before it enters the drum is unique (its not like the pump that recycles the water during the wash that recently Miele introduced - because AEG used that idea from 2005 or earlier... The Pro-Sence technology which shows you the laundry weight helping you to choose the right wash program (was introduced by Miele but offered on AEG on a much lower price point). Also recently they introduced new innovations on washing machines (one with UniversalDose detergent drawer that is special on disolving ARIEL detergent Pods) and an accessory that catches the microfibres from the drain pipe (in order to protect the enviroment). My only complaint about AEG is that includes some features like (WiFi Connectivity or Drum Light) on appliances with cost over 1300€ where you start thinking of buying a Miele one. So this is the real deal... You love AEG for all this evolution but once it starts getting VERY expensive you prefer the Miele.
    I left the TwinDOS system for the last part of my review.. I really think it a great innovation. But among-side similar Autodose system's they introduced in their dishwasher series it seems that they sell you expensive devices while wanting to lock you inside the company with a system that works only with their detergent cartridges... It's like the want to steal the annual detergent budget... So even if you like or not their detergent/softener results or smell you can only buy the specific products from them... If you don't buy the Miele series of detergent/softener you will not be able to use their AutoDose system with products of other companies... While at the same AEG offers you a very beautiful AutoDose detergent drawer where you fill whatever Detergent/Softener you want.. Of course their sell expensive washing/drying accessories but they don't force you to buy them.... Imagine if they had a SoftWater system which only lets you use a specific expensive AEG branded type of Salt.... They just give you the feature and then the choice on consumables is yours....
    Of course my comment is a generic comparison between Miele and AEG (I heard you reffering the size of Miele drum comparing to AEG and I took the opportunity to write my first comment). Wish you the best for your new washing machine and waiting for a washing review videos...!!!
    PS: I love the new washing machine (drum) smell... I am not the only one who is crazy about washing machines out there haha... Greetings from Greece my friend :)

    In my experience, washing machines tend to last longer if you're a single person. I use mine once a week. A more expensive machine may well last years compared to a cheaper model, however expensive machines also are expensive to fix.

    • @goldieandblackie
      @goldieandblackie Год назад

      I agree, I usually go for a more expensive machine with all the bells and whistles as its something you only buy say every 10 years, my Miele cat and dog vac(2200 watt) is still going strong since new in 2008.

  • @lukiejames
    @lukiejames 2 года назад +10

    Hello!
    Congrats on your new purchase!
    I have the model that’s got the touch screen in the 9kg. I previously too had an AEG.
    Few points, it doesn’t fill as high with water as the AEG. So don’t be surprised. I do have mine set to water plus x3 and the rinse levels are set to x3 as well and unless it’s a small load you’ll never see water in it. It doesn’t come to the door. It’s basically just sitting under the clothes.
    The spray jets don’t stay on during the entire wash like the AEG. They just periodically come on during the cycle and mostly at the start during the drenching and mixing phase of the program.
    My only gripes are the fact it needed to be replaced in six weeks and the replacement had issues as well. The springs are terribly noisy and needed lubricating. This is a common fault on new models but in years prior was not an issue for Miele so who knows what changed.
    Twindos for whatever reason just doesn’t clean like powder. Over time I find whites grey and clothing fades. I also notice armpits don’t smell clean after a load with twindos, however with powder it comes out clean. So I sort of alternate with the twindos for lighter soiling and powder for linens or business shirts that need a more heavy duty cleaning.
    You’ll pick up on it, but the machine doesn’t like small loads at all and it will simply not spin to 1600 unless you initiate another separate spin cycle. Especially if you select quick. It works much better with very full loads and will spin them without trouble. Quite often if I have used cottons and quick for a load of towels I’ll open it and feel they need to be spun again and will get 3/4L in a bucket out of them on a seperate spin. If I use the full cottons program without quick turned on it will take the time to spin at 1600. If you do lots of small loads, you’ll find as well the tumbles are too quick and rather then tumble through the water the clothes just stick on the sides of the drum so larger loads are definitely the way forward with the 9kg Miele.
    You may find the absence of a drain tube or flap annoying or it may suit your setup. For me it’s been difficult as it means draining water onto my tiles as I can’t catch it with a pan due to location.
    The app is terribly buggy and often fails. It’s got better in the last two months but don’t be surprised if it just gives out on you regularly.
    I would recommend for using express 20 to manually dose as it will add far too much twindos and as it only performs one rinse you’re left with soapy items. I only use this program infrequently because of this and it’s normally for one or two items.
    You can’t fault the build and the ability to customise things. It’s very good in that sense. However I’m not convinced it cleans any better then the AEG.
    I like the machine and I think you’ll be happy, but it doesn’t come without it’s little annoyances like most appliances. After wanting one for many years I got one expecting the world of it and I think when I saw little things that let it down I was a bit disappointed. However all in all it does do a decent job at cleaning clothes.

      Oh wow, thank you for your comments which makes me feel much better about putting in a service call to get my ancient WT2670 repaired. The inlet valve has failed again, can't really blame the spare part as our water in this country is really filthy at times and the whole-of-house filter wasn't working as it should. So I imagine grit might have gotten into the valve and jammed it up. But this is the only real fix it needs and it still washes, spins & dries really well. The whole thing is very old-school but I imagine the more tech there is, the more there is that goes haywire.

    • @lukiejames
      @lukiejames 2 года назад +2

      @@LemLTay I feel like the older machines whilst more basic did the job with a bit less fuss. The new ones do look and feel very well designed. If I was to replace it I would go for a model without the twindos and I think I would be more then content with the simple dials. Something that I have found which Is a bonus over the AEG washers is. The Miele will try a few times to spin an unbalanced load and if it isn’t getting it overly balanced eventually it will just go into spin unbalanced. With the AEG If it couldn’t balance the load perfectly It would sometimes get stuck in loops or 30/40 minutes trying to spin which was a little bit frustrating.
      Sometimes I do wish it would use a little bit more water like the older Mieles did and it not because I’m against energy savings, but because I have found towels and clothing is being worn quite quickly which I suspect is from the friction of items rubbing together without much water to cushion the progress.
      I do think it’s worth the service call if you’ve had many many years of good service, as I mentioned I’m not unhappy. I do think it’s a good washer and it does the job but there’s been a few things I have been a little disappointing for spending $5000.

    • @LemLTay
      @LemLTay 2 года назад

      @@danielwalls5150 Sadly the water company would not give two hoots about the water quality. When we lived in Australia there wasn't a problem with sediment / grit / mud in the water, but since moving to Malaysia, the inlet valve has failed twice already on this Miele washer-dryer.
      The same happened to my dad's Bosch dishwasher, had to replace the inlet valve myself..
      The consolation is that water is extremely cheap - we use less than 10kL (2,600 gallons) of water a month, and pay a measly USD$1.36 only!

      Hi, I’m having the same issue with the springs ticking and tapping against what I think is the outer casing. They came around once to replace the springs but made no difference and in fact a bit worse. I’m still within my 30 day return period so I will push for a replacement machine but I fear this is an issue on all of them. What is the solution with lubricating them and where/how do you do it?

    • @lukiejames
      @lukiejames 2 года назад +1

      @@anthonyhall912 hello, a replacement won’t fix the issue. I had 2 replacements. My 3rd machines just had its second service. The springs and shocks have to be greased and lubricated to use their words to make it silent again. It’s poor design/inferior parts. It’s not the old Miele quality I can tell you that. Then as it wears off, in six months it’s noisy again. I have been very disappointed.

    Had a TOTL pair of Miele at my old house and miss them. The new house has giant American machines which are not without merit, but I miss the compact size and lack of an external vent with the Mieles. And, of course, the superb build quality. In the US, especially in smaller cities, it is not easy to get the detergent cartridge. They are obtainable but cost quite a lot and it takes a bit of effort to get them. I'm with Ibaisaic's partner. Buttons and knobs rule! A touch screen interface for everything is not ideal.

    They are brilliant washers, however, the latest design of the detergent drawer makes it very difficult to clean. You need a really long bottle cleaner to get into the fabric conditioner channel. It’s bonded to the bottom of the drawer and accumulates the most gunk. I had one in a shared house and it quickly got full of deposits (mainly as my housemates didn’t feel like keeping the washing machine clean).

    • @disoneleg
      @disoneleg 2 года назад

      Yes the channel for the fabric softener is underneath the main sections of the dispenser drawer but using a long bottle washer it's not too bad cleaning it. You can also remove the front fascia of the drawer also, look on RUclips Miele official website and it shows the instructions for doing this.

    • @ibaisaic
      @ibaisaic  Год назад

      There is no specific white wash. Just select cotton or synthetic programme depending on the white fabric you are washing. If you have set up twin dos, press whites on the panel and it will adjust the detergent for white garments.
