Great vid dude .what's your link to Strava I've rode Jacobs before but fancy hitting a few of these you rode here .I've got a feiyutech gimbal aswell ,or did untill it went all weird and started shaking . apparently a issue they have.have you had any problems with yours mate?
Hey dude, thanks for the comment. I now use a hero 10, so have stopped using the gimbal. I do use other gimbals for work and they usually shake when they're not balanced. Try sliding the arms so it balances without being on.
I was about to say the same but in the 1990s. It was quite a day for a bunch of flatlanders! There was a half decent chippy at the start too iirc. I seem to remember thinking afterwards that a rigid wasn't the best idea.I was shall we say, a little beaten up at the end, and significantly slower than everyone else.
Do you know I've spent hours in the peaks biking , whether it be on the road or mountain biking. That was 20 years ago. I have an ebike now and lets me do the mile like i used to do. Almost 60 years old and it allows me to enjoy the hills up and down like I was only 40 again.
Do your brakes work? 😂 Great riding, knowing those trails well your distain for rocks is bordering on the psychotic. Interesting how you took the ridiculously narrow left hand high line down rushup edge. Roych clough afterwards is always a treat. 👍
Hahahha. The brakes were down to their very last bit of material so pulling back to the bar. Made it a bit more interesting!! To be honest, it has been years and years since I rode that route so we were both riding blind hence many of my line choices can be a bit questionable 😂. Hope you enjoyed it though!
Love that loop, do it at least once a year, i noticed you dont mention the freeking horrible climbs..... all worth it for the awesome descents though... Top channel by the way.
Hi Dave. It is a tough one to not make videos too long and boring. I could watch the whole 3 hours back!! I keep my Strava private, but if you pause the beginning of the video you should be able to make out the route quite easily
@@OriginalCyclist the nipple thing could be your thing your trademark... Could be an uptapped market for it, could get them sponsored... Give me time and I will think of the appropriate tie ins ...
i wanna give this route a go you think my bike would survive its a SISKIU D7 classed as a downcountry bike its 29" and 120mm front but its really aggressive geometry
Great video, I'm just planning my first few peak mtb rides now, we're you able to stay on bridleways the whole time or are people happy to ride on footpaths? I'm just trying to figure out where I can and can't go!
Thanks Shaun. Yeah pretty much all of that was bridleways. There was a section where we are carrying our bikes over the stiles which is a footpath. The bridleway was just to our left on the other side of a drystone wall 😂. You should be ok
Start small, slowly build. It is purely years and years of riding and having fun that gets you there. I took a load of novice riders around this area a few years back and they managed to ride almost all of it. You can always walk the tricky bits.
I think there was a section we hit the footpath rather than the bridleway which would explain us having to carry the bikes. That's an error on my behalf to be fair. Keeps you buff too 💪😂
Once I get my bike I’m heading up there. Amazing lads.
So, have u yet?;)
Great video and commentary. Made me smile 👍👍👍
Thanks Andrew!
Great video dude! Love the Peaks. Also love the smiley face on John’s gloves!
Yeah I only noticed that during the edit
Brilliant video as always, great quality! You are a brilliant rider!
Thanks Michael, you're is very kind. I think the wide lens makes me look a lot better than I actually am! 😂
Great video - loved the intro!
Cheers fella!
Is this route on trailforks? Love to download for my Garmin

Oh mate that was so nice to watch! Used to ride that (but in the opposite direction for some reason) in the late 80s, but not quite as fast as you 🙂 👍
Thanks dude. I've just uploaded a new one where we ride it in the opposite direction. I found it tough up Jacobs ladder 🤪

Did this in reverse while backpacking the other weekend. Great fun but soooo much climbing!
Yeah that would be tough in reverse!

Good on ya! Gotta keep fighting, even if it is on an e-bike. Enjoy!
Great vid mate, just done a variation of this loop myself, awesome route 👍🏻
Thanks dude. I need to get myself back up there ASAP!
Great vid mate looks a fantastic route do you have the route on Strava or similar or know where I can get it ?
I don't to hand, but have a look at routes like this which are a similar area pedalnorth.com/hope-valley-mtb/

Graham Alderson 🤣 yeah. Whenever I look back at footage of me climbing I think “who the hell wants to see a middle age bloke our breath?”
Original Cyclist I'm 55 so definitely don't want to see me out of breath and throwing up🤮🤣.... It's changed since I first rode it in my 20s though....
Nice video. I never know what to leave in or take out of my vids. Don't suppose you have a route map of this loop??? Say on strava or view ranger?

@@OriginalCyclist cheers I'll see what I can map out.
Great video. Well worthy of a sub! Nice one boys
Thanks Mark, appreciate that
First again... Great vid, super smooth and for those of you that want to go straight to the action nipple shot at 45 seconds in...
It is the first time they've been out on RUclips. Maybe not the last 😂

Minta looks a sick ride that boyz. I mite av try all these 1 day 🚴 🤘
You won't be disappointed!
@@OriginalCyclist thanks m8 hope ur all safe n well
Hi, where is this trail in 8:41 ? Thanks
Hey mate, if you head down from Hollins Cross towards Castleton, its on that hillside. The trail ends up in the middle of Castleton eventually
@@OriginalCyclist thank you mate:) I will try to find this trail it's look nice:)

Go for it, that sounds perfect
Hi
Daft question i know but do you start castleton towards blue John or castleton towards Edale ?
Thanks in advance
The map at 31 seconds will show you. We headed towards Mam Tor to start. So clockwise on that loop
Cheers going to give it a go in few weeks 👍
Those gulleys are a bugger!
Yup! Make the best riders look average 😂
It's amazing how much downhill riding can be done with very little uphill.... 😁 Good video man :) 🤘🤘🤘
Nick Redfern cheers dude. Such a good day
How long does this take to cycle? Cheers
It was a long time ago, I can't remember. It would have been several hours
Did this exact ride today on the strength of this video. Absolutely brilliant, amazing decents but the climbs are pretty horrible!
That's awesome! Arrr so jealous. And yeah, climbs aren't the easiest but well worth it! Thanks so much for letting me know 👍

What wheel size you using mate ?
650b (27.5)
The thing is It would be so cool to ride them and it would be easy to get to them (because i live in sheffield) but its just too advanced for me :/

where are the trees?
Darchful the forests tend to be in the valleys in The Peak District. Much of this loop was on open moorlands
@@OriginalCyclist Ah, now I understand. Anyway a good route and a beautiful place to get lost. Thanks for the clarification.
My hands are hurting just watching this video😬
Only hurts if you fall off!! 😂
@@OriginalCyclist I don't know about that with my bike, the vibrations are killer!🥴
They should have bike friendly gates along some of the paths for cyclists.

Have you considered a gravel bike? 🤣🙈😱
You've obviously not subscribed to the channel! Plenty of gravel action to be had ;-)
I was just joking on account of the teeth rattling terrain 🤪
@@parkinkevin 😂😬
I don’t think this track is safe for us. 😅
Great storytelling and editing, you definitely deserve more subs! I actually make MTB videos too so check them out if you want🤙
Digging and Riding amazing. Thanks for the kind words. I will!
Shake those bingo wings out
Ha ha! I'm getting ooooold
@@OriginalCyclist never too old.
I never ride the peaks because there's always so many walkers and gates everywhere... but it does look like fun
You'd be surprised how many routes you can ride without seeing a soul. It was only Jacobs ladder that was busy. You're missing out!
