    Honestly, I think this video turned out better because you pivoted. I enjoy seeing your creative process and think it is so much more interesting to watch than following instructions. As someone who is hard on myself, I think it's great that you persevered.

    Thank you so much for this video. Everything you said really resonated with me. "The ugly phase" I have learned to love and accept. It took me years to figure out that the ugly phase is a part of the creative process lol...that said, I am so hard on myself. Sometimes it feels like my creativity is bigger than my hands or comprehension can handle. I literally wing everything. That's why I only have 71 subs on my channel because I don't do directions....I struggle with that. It's hard for me to teach others things that I achieved by winging it. Thank you so much for this video. It's awesome to be in such great company. Your designs came out great. I have always been so inspired by your earrings designs, especially.

      Aw, thank you so much :) I completely understand what you mean about your creativity being bigger than your hands or comprehension. It can be very difficult to put ideas into motion.

    It was really brave of you to be so vulnerable with your sewing troubles - thank you. I'm a very experienced seamstress and those directions _were_ a mess. I can't see any way you could have put those outfits on dolls after making them on the mannequins either. I was taking a break from struggling with doing dolly hairstyles when I watched this video (How Do people get their wrapped ponytails so smooth? My hands don't want to do it) so it was a good reminder that we all have our own skills and learning something new is a learning curve 💗

    • @AThousandSplendidDolls
      @AThousandSplendidDolls  6 месяцев назад

      Thank you so much! I figured there was something off about the instructions, but as a inexperienced seamstress, I wasn't sure if it was me ha ha. Wrapped ponytails are very tricky--I always mess up when I go to tuck the end into the elastic.

    I just wanted to say thank you for doing this video. I certainly understand the frustration of working with poorly written directions. I appreciate you being transparent with your emotions. It brought back similar feelings of my youth with certain crafts that were poorly instructed or way too complex/muddled. You were able to use your creativity to fulfill a need in your collection, and not only that, inspire others (me) to do the same. I have a 14" Rainbow High doll that came partially clothed. There's not many clothes available for these dolls, much less the larger ones, unless you want replacement clothes at Ebay prices! I thought of you and now have decided to design my own. You are an inspiration!

    Everything you made turned out so cute! I especially like what you made for Belle and Ariel, Ariel's purple sparkly dress was always my favorite as a kid and that fabric is so much like it! I've been meaning to try making some doll clothes too, but I've been too intimidated to try. I have an old pattern from the 90s that's actually for magic attic club dolls, but it might be fun to try making things for my American Girl dolls. Getting past the perfectionism will probably be the hardest part lol

    Thank you for this video, you helped me a lot. I also tend to be hard on myself and want to do things perfectly. Not so much with dolls but I've been learning to play the piano for about 2 years and I'm an adult. I'm making progress and apparently doing well according to my teacher but I've recently been so unhappy about how I play that I felt discouraged. What you said about the ugly phase made me reflect upon my piano and see it as a natural part of the learning process. And maybe it's even not so ugly, it's just that I see it that way because I want it to be perfect and right away but it just doesn't work that way. Anyway, thank you a hundred times, you're an inspiration and I'm rushing back to my piano.

    Craft kits nearly always fail for me, I find it easier to just try ideas I have with scrap fabric and through trial and error I normally get it done and next time it easier. Your designs were cute Belle's skirt was my favourite.💜

    I enjoy craft kits. I've bought craft books for the instructions. I can say that I am familiar with them.
    That kit is terrible. The items included (fabric, notions) look fine, but not having specialty glue, a real pen, and actual instructions is a huge fail. The instructions in particular are awful, that was not in any way a fault of ours, the product is just plain bad.
    Given that all the photos were of the "dresses" on manikins, I would say that you were not supposed to remove them, you were supposed to make 3 "dresses" which are really more like sculptures. They were not supposed to be worn by dolls, and the shoes were just some extra the company threw in.
    You made cute things, and should be proud of your work.

    • @AThousandSplendidDolls
      @AThousandSplendidDolls  6 месяцев назад

      Thank you! I'm glad that it wasn't me that was missing something, and that the instructions/some of the tools were the issue. I don't make craft kits, so I didn't have a basis for comparison. It was odd because some people said they removed the dresses to use with dolls in the reviews...definitely misleading!

    Shelley, there is a channel on RUclips called "idoll". She demonstrates how to use the double-sided tape to do Barbie doll clothing seams. I subscribe to her, and it's pretty good. I struggle with your issues, also! Your advice is right on! Yes, I have times when I give up and never finish! Then, I feel even worse! Thank you so much for sharing this video! I know this is what I and others need to hear!🙂
