It's a shame how many of CN's BEST shows are being gatekept to the digital purchase only limbo. At this point, the closest thing we can have to the glory days of Max is if you spend an entire life saving's worth on Prime Video.
Isn't it ironic that the way we used to watch media 10 years ago and the future of media preservation is the same format? (i.e. discs: DVD, BluRay, etc...)
Yeah streaming is REALLY the future. 🙄 With everything getting removed, it shows how important and beneficial physical media is! This whole thing reminds me of how before 1978, the BBC would sometimes “wipe” or destroy past content from the archives to make room for newer content. This practice was unfortunately quite common in the 1960s, and is the main reason why several episodes of some of the BBC’s longest-running shows, such as Doctor Who, are lost media. (And even then, not everything they wiped or destroyed is lost media, some people managed to salvage some of their content through broadcast masters from overseas or telerecordings.) Around 1978, when videotaped masters became to be more common, the BBC stopped the wiping practice. Nowadays, Max (and to a lesser extent, Paramount+ since they just removed some more Nick content last week) is doing something similar, removing content, possibly because they don’t think it’s valuable enough or the rights to stream it expired and they were too cheap to renew them. Of course, not everything they removed is lost media, since some shows were released on DVD, other services like Prime Video and Apple TV, and piracy.
You should clarify that this *_only_* applies to the U.S. version of Max. Latin America still has most of the shows that were (or are getting) pulled from the U.S. version of Max, while Europe's Max library doesn't even have any actual retro CN shows to begin with aside from season 1 of the 2005 _Ben 10_ (but at least has modern CN shows that were pulled from the U.S. version of Max).
@@ghostfreak45able And one of my personal favorites, Sanjay and Craig. I was rewatching it frequently earlier this year and rediscovered why I loved it so much as a kid. I'm devastated they pulled that show off, regardless of what others think of that show.
I remember being told back in 2017, that streaming is the future… I’m so glad I still stand by my statement about cable and physical media because look at what happened. I signed up for HBOmax to catch Tig n’ Seek season four (before it’s abrupt cancellation and purge) and checked out other Cartoon Network shows on the platform… now there’s nothing for me besides reality shows.
Perhaps that could be what would happen: something similar to the Great Video Game Crash of 1983. People start avoiding streaming services because of removals, and possibly it being impossible to tell the good from the bad, and physical media/cable TV retains its spot over streaming services. The only thing missing is an alien with a glowing finger, if you know what I mean.
This is why People should keep physical media around. When Max removed Dexter's Laboratory that was a sign that no show or movie isn't safe so I got Ed, Edd n Eddy on DVD just incase something happens turns out I was right because the show isn't on Max anymore. If anyone likes The Big Bang Theory or Friends better hope they won't meet the same fate.
I'd say he's basically the real life equivalent of Dan Halen from Squidbillies. A petty CEO who's well aware of the harm his actions cause and therefore doesn't care.
But my question is why? Why Max (Warner) is deleting JUST cartoon Network content? Like, are any more shows or movies that dont do well? Because it looks like more like bias
it's kinda insane to have like a 2 minute sponsor of chinese malware (Opera GX/One/Opera) in a 4 minute video about HBO Max deleting Cartoon Network Shows
Everybody like this so he can see this! Cartoon Network is removing its games on Steam, Xbox, and PS. All Steven Universe, OK K.O., and Samurai Jack games are disappearing. Help me spread awareness about this!
At this point how is streaming supposed to be any better than cable TV? I still have cable, but I mainly just use it for the news and maybe some of the Science Channel stuff.
Worst of all, HBO Max (or Max) isn't available in my country while other Southeast Asia and Hong Kong recently got it. We still stuck in outdated HBO Go. And the only way we can watch CN shows (both old and new) is 🏴☠️
Streaming was never profitable for most services. Netflix and Hulu maintained their margins because they were the main games in town with beloved OG content. But once the pandemic was over, and each studio had their own service, they realized that now THEY had to flip the bill on streaming rights and royalties. And while Disney is big enough to eat the tens of millions they lose in Disney+ to harbor their content, WBD simply cannot. Their best bet is to fold Max, and license their content out to other services again. Most likely they will bundle in their content with Hulu given that Max has a bundle deal in the works with Hulu and Disney+.
Now that you mention it, maybe you're right. Going back to licensing to other streaming services, if it is more profitable and most likely more ethical, is definitely the way to go. Maybe it would be for the best that the Great Streaming Crash of 202X (or whenever) would occur.
I still remember the first time they launched. HBO Max bragged that they had everything the competition didn't. I knew it wouldnt last, but not the part where they removed everything under the Warner umbrella
So the only channels that's remaining is gonna be Nickelodeon, Nicktoons, Nick Jr, TeenNick, Disney XD, Disney Channel and Disney Junior. Boomerang might be shutting down too
Oh, and some episodes of Chowder, the entirety of Ed, Edd and Eddy, and I’m pretty sure some Adventure Time episodes were removed from Hulu. It looks like EEE is biting the dust, and Chowder might follow soon.
I always wondered why I hate change. CN being scrapped for parts breaks my heart and why I have more and more grievances with streaming despite having Netflix and Amazon. The only way is like you said, support physical releases. Better said than done but that's the next best step. Its hard not to feel pessimistic and defeated by WBD but life's too short for negativity.
Seeing this is sad. I grew up on Cartoon Network, That Network will always have a special place in my heart ❤. I will forever be team Cartoon Network over any other Cartoon channels.
The honest truth is when Max first existed then called HBO Max I hated it. It used to be that I would have everything I need with just Hulu and Netflix but because the TV networks and film companies got so greedy and felt like oh they shouldn't be putting their movies and shows on Netflix and Hulu that they decide to make their own and South Park which by the way even included the two-part cartoon Wars episode was fully available on Hulu but then taken away to Max. There were so many adult swim cartoons available on Hulu and now all of them are gone. I watched all of The boondocks on Hulu as well as aqua teen hunger force. Rick and Morty as far as I know it's still available on Hulu but I stopped watching it since they fired Justin Roiland so I literally stopped at the last season he was on. The only thing that I found beneficial about these added streaming sites which it used to be enough with just Hulu and netflix, is that ironically even though I find it dangerous that Disney owns Fox which is already big enough on its own, it turns out the bundle to combine a Hulu and Disney plus is an amazing deal and you get a lot of content from both streaming sites. I just hope that if Max is getting rid of cartoon Network stuff it will just come right back to Hulu like it used to be. That includes both cartoon Network and adult swim because there were so many shows from both on Hulu. It's not fair that you now require more streaming sites to watch the same amount of entertainment you had before. There are some things that were never available before which I've noticed on Disney plus but in a lot of other cases these were available on Hulu or Netflix at one point in time. For example my wife and I watched all of Charmed on Peacock.
It was I think the mid-2010s when my mom gifted me a portable DVD player for Xmas because she was concerned abotu my Internet habits. That thing has saved my ass so many times because I don't have to fuck with streaming or unskippable ads if I can get something I want to see (again) on DVD, either by buying it or by checking it out from the library. :)
I wonder if this along with the Nickelodeon shows will either fade into obscurity or end up being moved to a different service or possibly physical media.
Just an FYI, these are NOT tax write offs. WB has been slowly adding stuff on RUclips. But yes, streaming has changed. It's now the same as TV where if the ratings aren't there, they won't stay up long.
It's actually crazy how this was probably one of the most hectic and destructive years for WBD's properties but no one was talking about it. Like, did you guys know they're not renewing Sesame Street?
@ZeepAtomic So true, I hope one day, when Zaslav is long fired, someone makes a cartoon with a greedy entertainment CEO as the villain (Gumball movie plot perhaps?)
If you're gonna remove ben 10 from HBO Max, At least release the series on high bitrate bluray with the errors fixed and surround sound and upscale the blue and gold versions of secret of the omnitrix in 1080p widescreen.
So not only do they kill the Cartoon Network website and basically force people to go to Max for CN content, but now they're just getting rid of multiple shows??? Great Job Max
And Now Paramount Plus has slowly copied Max by Deleting all Nick Shows (The Good and tolerable ones that Made Me mad, and the bad ones that made me feel joyful)
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!! First Nickelodeon felling off the deep end and now CN doubles down even further. Damn. It’s almost as if our criticisms against the companies we voice on the internet aren’t even doing enough for them to even listen any feedback from us, or at the least do something right.

First they remove shows like Hailey's On It from Disney+, now this.
Hailey's not on it anymore.
Netflix, Disney+, Max and Paramount+ have pretty much reached their end.
It's tough being a Cartoon Network fan...
Hopefully something changes for the better sooner rather than later...
Not just max but paramount plus is following behind with the removal of my life as a teenage robot and penguins of Madagascar😔.
Paramount Plus also recently removed Doug.
@@ghostfreak45able And one of my personal favorites, Sanjay and Craig.
I was rewatching it frequently earlier this year and rediscovered why I loved it so much as a kid. I'm devastated they pulled that show off, regardless of what others think of that show.

I remember being told back in 2017, that streaming is the future…
I’m so glad I still stand by my statement about cable and physical media because look at what happened.
I signed up for HBOmax to catch Tig n’ Seek season four (before it’s abrupt cancellation and purge) and checked out other Cartoon Network shows on the platform… now there’s nothing for me besides reality shows.
We have got to Stop the villainous Zaslav before he keeps this up!
Why not sue him?
DELETE ZASLAV ZONE | ACT 1
It’s sort of like streaming companies want us to go back to using cable television odd…
I hope we get a chance to see a Codename Kids Next Door complete series physically sometime soon, that show was legendary
Oh you do not wanna know how LONG I've been waiting for that to happen.
Peak fiction needs easy access.
David Zaslav is the Dr. Eggman of entertainment company
He needs to be fired NOW!
Seriously, why won't they fire that Monster Zaslav?
That an insult to eggman
Eggman is way better compared to that shithead 😂
At least Eggman has standards (like raising a daughter).
He’s moreso the Grinch of animation, his piss-poor heart is 3x smaller than average.
I'd say he's basically the real life equivalent of Dan Halen from Squidbillies.
A petty CEO who's well aware of the harm his actions cause and therefore doesn't care.
This is why I don't like streaming services. All they do is get rid of the things you actually do want to watch.
It's like Zaslav WANTS people to stop using max and go pirate
He's basically burying Warner Bros' legacy w/ himself included
He needs to be fired NOW

I Hope Cartoon network will get justice someday
But my question is why? Why Max (Warner) is deleting JUST cartoon Network content? Like, are any more shows or movies that dont do well? Because it looks like more like bias
They are also deleting static shock. As if teen titans go mocking it wasn’t bad enough
When will you learn, David?! When will you learn that your actions have consequences?!

It's insane to have a 2-minute sponsor in a 4-minute video
It needs to stop! Enough with the fucking ads already!
it's kinda insane to have like a 2 minute sponsor of chinese malware (Opera GX/One/Opera) in a 4 minute video about HBO Max deleting Cartoon Network Shows
Everybody like this so he can see this! Cartoon Network is removing its games on Steam, Xbox, and PS. All Steven Universe, OK K.O., and Samurai Jack games are disappearing. Help me spread awareness about this!
HBO Max is basically asking for us to stream their cartoons on pirated websites.
HBO Max is already becoming HBO Mini
to be honest i think cartoon network should do what disney did and have their own streaming service
In this world, there are two choices...
Pirating or DVDs
At this point how is streaming supposed to be any better than cable TV? I still have cable, but I mainly just use it for the news and maybe some of the Science Channel stuff.
Unbelievable. Why are they getting rid of all this good stuff?
Worst of all, HBO Max (or Max) isn't available in my country while other Southeast Asia and Hong Kong recently got it. We still stuck in outdated HBO Go. And the only way we can watch CN shows (both old and new) is 🏴☠️
This explains the Learning with Pibby short and that OK K.O. episode. Cartoon Network was warning us through entertainment.
The song by Voltaire "When You're Evil" Perfectly sums up Max in this situation.
"🎵 I'm the streaming service that removes cartoons! 🎵"
Is that real?
I still remember the first time they launched. HBO Max bragged that they had everything the competition didn't. I knew it wouldnt last, but not the part where they removed everything under the Warner umbrella
People forget that people that make things can take it away from you.
So the only channels that's remaining is gonna be Nickelodeon, Nicktoons, Nick Jr, TeenNick, Disney XD, Disney Channel and Disney Junior. Boomerang might be shutting down too
This is the first time in entertainment history where we should go back to the old ways
When animation wasn't for kids and had all that "politically incorrect" stuff ?
Yes .
Good thing Regular Show is getting a Complete Series and guess I'll have to get Fosters Home on Physical Media.
WBD:brain washes people that cartoon network doesn't exist

PIRACY IS NO PARTY MATE
YARG HARG FIDDLE DEE BEING A PIRATE’S A GOOD THING TO BE
The honest truth is when Max first existed then called HBO Max I hated it.
Thank god I have Ed Edd n Eddy on DVD and i'm hoping cartoon network can make a complete series DVD set of Cow and Chicken (i miss that show a lot)
To quote Fender from Robots
“I think that’s already been established”
My family recently got a New DVD player because of all the content that was either being deleted, moved or hard time finding, I’m glad we got it
It was I think the mid-2010s when my mom gifted me a portable DVD player for Xmas because she was concerned abotu my Internet habits.
And this is how you start a New Pirate Era
eBay dvd resellers are about to get expensive I can already tell it’s gonna hell in 2025 for cartoons.
Just an FYI, these are NOT tax write offs. WB has been slowly adding stuff on RUclips. But yes, streaming has changed. It's now the same as TV where if the ratings aren't there, they won't stay up long.
Warner Bros have been doing tax write offs since 1943 but nobody complained back then .
It's actually crazy how this was probably one of the most hectic and destructive years for WBD's properties but no one was talking about it. Like, did you guys know they're not renewing Sesame Street?
How EVIL do you have to be to try and cancel Sesame Street?
It's like they WANT kids' brains to fry on iPads!
@ZeepAtomic So true, I hope one day, when Zaslav is long fired, someone makes a cartoon with a greedy entertainment CEO as the villain (Gumball movie plot perhaps?)
WHAT?!!!!!!!! SERIOUSLY cancelling the longest running kids show for no reason?!
Sesame Street is getting cancelled?
Their contract with the show is expiring and Sesame Workshop is trying to find a new distributor.
They say streaming will be the future yet THEY KEEP REMOVING WHATS BRINGING PEOPLE IN
They say piracy is the future but I found a handful of things I can't even find with it.

As an OG Cartoon Network guy/fan, This Is depressing asf.
I don't have Max account, but this is overly ridiculous, they're basically deleting CN's history & our childhood memories.
And Now Paramount Plus has slowly copied Max by Deleting all Nick Shows (The Good and tolerable ones that Made Me mad, and the bad ones that made me feel joyful)
Max has really gone downhill ever since it’s merge with Discovery+. As for Cartoon Network, it’s definitely in a sorry state.
2:11 courage: please don't cancel us me and the Powerpuff girls are all that's left we are your only hope
Gumball:BRO WHEN WILL I GET MY MOVIE

I’m glad I’m a 90’s kid and I enjoyed watching cartoons like these during that era and the 2000’s before cartoons went downhill in my opinion.
So, everything after 2000s is bad?
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!!
First Nickelodeon felling off the deep end and now CN doubles down even further. Damn. It’s almost as if our criticisms against the companies we voice on the internet aren’t even doing enough for them to even listen any feedback from us, or at the least do something right.
