  • Today we have our 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 Crossram in Daytona Yellow out on the museum grounds. This Z/28 also has the optional Crossram intake, which is a dealership-only or "over-the-counter" system that used a special aluminum intake and a pair of 600-CFM Holley four-barrel carburetors. The Z/28 package also included power front disc brakes with single-piston calipers, the F41 heavy-duty suspension, and a quick-ratio steering box. This was the most popular Z/28 to date, with over 20,000 vehicles sold for 1969.
In this video, Ed Dedick covers the history of the 1969 Camaro Z/28 and a bit of history on our unique body-off restored example. For more on this car, or any other car in the museum, head over to AmericanMuscleCarMuseum.com

    Beautiful!
I love the Camaro (and also the Corvette)
Unfortunately, here in my country (Argentina) we only knew about the Camaro from a few copies (very few) that arrived imported and were never manufactured in my country.
The ones that we did manufacture were the First Generation Chevrolet Nova (only in 4-door version) and the Nova II (4-door and 2-door) but only with the 230 and 250 inline six-cylinder engines, never with the V8.
    Greetings.

My friends brother had a Z/28 with the cross ram carbs. It was MEAN. He could jump a 16oz pop bottle with very little trouble. IT WAS A BEAST!!!!

OK! I am old!!! we would set up a 12 or 16 oz glass pop bottle an pull the front tires off the ground over the pop bottle. Sometimes you would not make it but when it did it was impressive. @@SLJ2137694

By the way, x33 was a "Z28 " designation. Had nothing to do with the crossram. Crossram's were only available over the counter as a " heavy duty" part. Contrary to what many believed car dealers rarely if at all installed the crossram setup. And positraction was part of the Z28 package, not an option.😉

      Exactly!
You could also get a fiber optic turn signal reminder that mounted onto the rear window package tray. You could notice it in your rear view mirror if you happen to of left a turn signal on, plus if a bulb burnt out, you would be able to tell.
I'm not sure about the 69's, but you could get a fold down rear seat in 67 & 68 Camaro's, and NO, it had nothing to do with being a
      Z/28 or not.

wrong from 67to 69 gm had to produce them as factory options in order to compete in the trans am serries as all cars had to be factory production and under 327 ci. you dont know what you are talking about .

@frostycools1315 ok, if you're referring to the original GM Crossram set up. Well, you are definitely wrong! No 1st generation Z28 Camaro was ever delivered from the Factory with one already installed. I've owned an original 1968 Z28 for over 40 years, 2nd owner. I also own 2 copies of Jerry MacNeish's book. The Definitive 1967, 68 Z28 Fact Book. Also, the book " Untold Secrets of the 1967-1969 Camaro" by Wayne D. Guinn.
I'm pretty sure I know what I'm talking about. BTW, it was under 305 ci ,not 327 ci.

that Camaro makes me happy just looking at it. i can't imagine how I'd handle the shear elation that would overtake me as i slid that American classic sideways in front of crowd of much more timid Americans than in 69'.i probably just explode while pulling up to the first stoplight afterwards. hopefully I'd have in neutral on level ground. so all authorities would have to deal with is my guts and shredded torso inside and otherwise pristine rs/ z28.

these stripes are correct. I know I witnessed these z/28's new back in 1969. I graduated HS in 1970. By the way I owned a 1969 SS 396 Camaro my senior year and regret the day I sold it. :>(

Not sure where your getting your info. Sounds like you know the car. The crossram set-up, when installed properly with the off road racing cam, racing headers did in fact put out an impressive 465 HP. As stated on the GM air cleaner decal. During experimental testing the engine produces up to 480 hp. With the engineers saying that there was room for even more. Now I can't say if any of these numbers were at the rear wheels or at just the engine itself. Watch Jerry MacNeish's 67 302 Z28 run low tens here on the RUclips. I spoke to him, his Z is putting out 525 hp. D stock 302 engine. They machine the cam down to be a quarter mile speed cam, and a few other tweaks. Not sure what "D" stock actually entails. But you can hear that 67 302 roar down the track for sure. A stock 302 single 4 barrel carb with headers comes in at 402 hp, as per the camaro research group. My mechanic in 78 told me my 68 was putting out about 390, no headers. He said GM lied about the hp by 100 hp for insurance purposes. So the 402 with headers makes sense...
