When I was a little kid, my favorite Sesame Street character was "Sam the Robot". He was on the show in the early 70's. You never see him anywhere in any of the museums or the nostalgia stuff and it makes me sad because he was my favorite and I miss him. I remember loving that character when I was little and then he was suddenly gone and it seems like he's been erased from history because no one even seems to know he existed or cares to preserve his memory in favor of preserving Elmo or Grover or Bert and Ernie etc..
When I saw Big Bird I wanted to cry. I adore puppets. I'm a junior puppeteer myself, even though I don't have many opportunities. I absolutely adore Jim Henson's work and Big Bird has always been my favorite.
I will always love the Muppets , Art Clokey,s Gumby & Pokey Thank You Jacob for this vlog You made my day This was the golden days of children,s Television . Again I thank you for bringing back good T.V memories. Keep on vlogging.
Chicken No. 5? Do you not know Camilla, Gonzo's girlfriend, when you see her? That place was entirely amazing! I met Carol Spinney, who has played Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch for 45 years. I couldn't help but get emotional.
+The Carpetbagger It was awesome! He also did a panel and basically acted out the entire "Mr. Hooper Died" scene, in Big Bird's voice. EVERYONE, I mean EVERYONE was in tears.
I never knew dog city was a Jim Henson production. I remember watching that as a kid on Saturday mornings. This whole video brought me back to my childhood. Awesome video thanks for making it.
I remember the Muppets they were my childhood too and the dog detective I remember that too oh man my childhood shows miss them. Thanks for the awesome video again.
Holy cow, I think I would actually cry if I went there. Jim Henson was pretty much my entire childhood. I grew up on The Muppets and Sesame Street. And I adore The Dark Crystal! Gotta say, Aughra looks a lot creepier without her eye. It's a shame they don't have a skeksis puppet, those are my favorites.
That's EXACTLY how I felt!! This was amazing! Thank you so much!! I forgot about fraggle rock and dog city! Aaaawwweee! Jim Henson sure makes me happy! And Labyrinth! Aaaawwwwww! Awwwwee! David Bowie.... You sure did it!!! Thank you ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I was fangirling over the Muppets. Dog City was a short shown after The Jim Henson Hour in the 90's along with The Storyteller. It's a gangster story with dogs. This place is now on my bucket list!
that was an amazing place, i always wondered where the creatures from the dark crystal and labrinth ended up. im in a total nostalgia mood now, excellent video Carpetbagger as always, thanks for sharing :-)
if I was to choose one program that brought back the fondest childhood memories it would absolutely be Emmit Otters Jugband Christmas! Thanks so much for this video, lots of nostalgia for sure:)
I'm sure someone has already commented this, but Dog City was an amazing show and I remember watching it a lot as a kid! It had a weird time slot so I don't think a lot of people actually watched it. It was half puppets and half cartoon! Although I don't really remember much about the puppets (those ones looked like side characters).
1:15 STOP RIGHT THERE. AS IF PUNCH AND JUDY WEREN'T AS COOL AS IT GETS... (Yeah, they're a huge running joke in one episode of my favorite cartoon series, so that's why I'm excited to see them for real for the first time ever.) I'M CRYING. I LOVE Coraline!!! The book was such a fun read and the movie really lived up to it, maybe did even better... and the way Henry Selick interpreted their world was so amazing. I can't even.
+The Carpetbagger The opening gag pictures a large structure reading "Sex and Violence" with a voice-over saying "Ladies and Gentlemen, presenting the end of sex and violence on television." Crazy Harry then comes in and blows up the structure. The entire episode includes a bunch of random scenes and gags with the main plot being a "Seven Deadly Sins Pageant" a theatre (not the Muppet theatre) is putting on. These deadly sins are the puppets housed in the display.
As a past museum manager of the Center for Puppetry Arts, thank you for getting the word out on this magical place! Did you not go into the Labyrinth movie special exhibit and see costumes worn by David Bowie? It is no longer there but the Dark Crystal will be coming soon so you will need to go back!
I'm not really a puppet enthusiast but I'm impressed. This is quite a place. I don't know if it would fit in this particular museum but I was remembering the malevolent ventriloquist dummy in the movie "Magic" from about 1980-- I don't know if she's there but I remember seeing a game show once on "Sesame Street" and one of the panelists was a muppet named Arlene Frantic. I hope they got the OK to do that from Arlene Francis who used to be a panelist on the game show "What's My Line"! ---Also I remember Wayland Flowers and his wonderful muppet named Madam. I remember her talking about her long-ago days at M.G.M.: "Jean Harlow always got the best parts but then she had the best parts to begin with".
I'm so glad that I saw this comment ! I have been trying to remember Madam's name for about 2 months. I think she appeared on Hollywood Squares as well. I used to really enjoy her character:)
Another great video man!! There’s gotta be a sign tho, it’s Skeeter NOT Scooter silly!! 😜 I can’t wait to check this place out in person. My family loves you. Weird as it sounds I feel like I know you in real life because we watch so much of your stuff. My nine year old son is a huge fan as well. We watch a couple of your videos every night between dinner and bed. It’s hard to find a channel that is appropriate for kids and still entertaining for adults. We could you through Adam The Woos channel. Thanks again and keep it up! -The Walbright Family from Ohio
We went there about a year after you did - I totally agree with you about emotional - besides being a major Muppet Fan, I also did puppets at our church for several years as a student and later the leader over our youth - So this was a wonderful trip for me. I have been to Leland, MS - Kermit's birthplace - you must go there if you have not been - small but the lady that was there a few years ago had so much knowledge and so much pictures and memorabilia in books - When we went to Center for Puppetry I first went slowly thru the Henson side and then thru the Global side - taking tons of pictures - then I made my husband - also a Muppet fan but maybe not as big - let me go back thru the Henson side and just look and soak it all in - they also had a traveling Labyrinth exhibit out across from the other entrance - it stays I think til October and I saw recently they are having a Ball before it goes - Love watching your videos those I've been to like this - there were a few different Muppets out from your trip and mine - the lady said they do change things out usually once a year or so - Oscar wasn't there we had Cookie Monster and Hoots Randolph in with Grover and Elmo but the great Roosevelt Franklin yay yay yay - was there - I also like to see the ones near me - some I have seen and some not - also the things I have heard of but never been to - Now I will know if I want to go and some of the places you have gone and I know I will never see myself - so keep up the good work! - Oh by the way Vulcan is getting a make over - a new paint job and clean up for a few weeks and not available his regular hours - in case you were to come back thru
He will be happy to see you and proud to show off - they have been posting pics every day or so of what is going on ==== I have looking at your map and haven't seen anything on Selma, AL yet - besides the famous bridge there are a couple cool cemeteries there - New Live Oak has the grave of an Elvis Tribute Artist that because of his close voice tribute he was chosen to wear a mask and be known as Orion - Jimmy Ellis and the original Live Oak Cemetery is so old and ornate - the stones are amazing there - A Vice President is buried there as well as Mary Todd Lincoln's step sister and other interesting folks and they have a Civil War section as well with monuments - so if you come to see Vulcan and traveling a little south you might stop there too
Your videos make me happy when I'm sad they are the best And I don't know what I'd do without you making videos. Also have one question: when will you explore another abandoned place? Keep up the good work :)
It's always a special video when you love what your filming. Thanks for sharing your own cherished memories with us. Are you on vacation now? If so have fun..fun...fun. I wonder where Cookie Monster was? That's my own nickname cos my last name is Cook and I love cookies. :)
gumby and pokey should have had their own showcase - and since they were there did you see Mr. Bill?? please tell me you know who Mr. Bill is lol -- do you remember "not the mama"??
Vickie Cook it was a very stupid but very popular dinosaur puppet thing - had some funny parts but one of those shows that you wonder how they lasted so long - look them up on youtube (just type in "not the momma" or momma/mama?? don't remember the correct spelling)
+jmarylastone I remember Mr. Bill on "Saturday Night Live". I even had a couple Mr. Bill t-shirts! "Hoo-hoo, kiddies!" Did I ever laugh watching him in around 1979.

Jacob are you still going to do abandon houses and buildings? That was kinda why I joined the channel not really into side show places. I'm not trying to change what you are doing but if this is where your channel is headed I will say my good by and move on down the road.
I will be doing more abandoned buildings, but I never intended that to be the focus of my channel. If my channel no longer floats your boat, no hard feelings
6:03 I’ve seen that puppet (Jen from the dark crystal) in other Jim Henson exhibit videos from different museums and he looks really terrible! But in this one he looks A-OK. I’m so confused.
Labyrinth!...the Dog from fraggle Rock!!....the muppets...my childhood!....RIP Jim Henson...a Genius of our time.
This place is a tribute to his genius
I'm adding this museum to my bucket list. So many memories from my childhood. Very cool that you were able to visit it and share with us!

Best video yet. Got my whole family arguing on who is who. Puppets freaks in this house. Jim Henson was a master.
+hjfox1 Amen!

SIR DIDYMUS HAS ARRIVED FROM THE BOG OF ETERNAL STENCH.
When I saw Big Bird I wanted to cry. I adore puppets. I'm a junior puppeteer myself, even though I don't have many opportunities. I absolutely adore Jim Henson's work and Big Bird has always been my favorite.
so much nostalgia that i cried. i was in pure tears when i saw the dark crystal stuff and big bird.
this has to be the favourite of your videos I have watched. Jim Henson was amazing.
That my friend was a great trip down memory lane. Awesome work!
I will always love the Muppets , Art Clokey,s Gumby & Pokey Thank You Jacob for this vlog You made my day This was the golden days of children,s Television . Again I thank you for bringing back good T.V memories. Keep on vlogging.
Have to add this to my list of things to see - love the dark crystal when i was a kid in the 80's. Thanks for the throwback!
Chicken No. 5? Do you not know Camilla, Gonzo's girlfriend, when you see her? That place was entirely amazing! I met Carol Spinney, who has played Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch for 45 years. I couldn't help but get emotional.
+Toy-Addict Now that would be amazing
+The Carpetbagger It was awesome! He also did a panel and basically acted out the entire "Mr. Hooper Died" scene, in Big Bird's voice. EVERYONE, I mean EVERYONE was in tears.
My bucket list just got another stop. Thanks Jacob.

That's awesome! I had no idea that that was there. Like a trip down memory lane.
That was amazing. Definitely a new destination on my must see list

Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas is one of my favorite Christmas movies from when I was a kid! I've got my kids hooked on it too!

Cool place and great job! So many places like this I never knew exhisted. Thanks for the memories Jacob!
6:13
Dude, that Aughra. She's actually really kind, not evil. It's the Skeksis who are evil. Ugly birds. Ugly.
In my younger years I loved watching Fragle Rock and The Labyrinth! 👍
I was fangirling over the Muppets. Dog City was a short shown after The Jim Henson Hour in the 90's along with The Storyteller. It's a gangster story with dogs. This place is now on my bucket list!
Awesome place! Thanks for sharing
Wow!! I loved Jim Henson the labyrinth and the dark crystal puppets were amazing!! I love those two movies. This video is awesome!!
One of your best videos yet!!!
I remember seeing those Coraline puppets when they used to be at Universal Studios Hollywood.
that was an amazing place, i always wondered where the creatures from the dark crystal and labrinth ended up. im in a total nostalgia mood now, excellent video Carpetbagger as always, thanks for sharing :-)
+Damian Jones Appreciate it! It was crazy seeing all these old puppets

+eelsinkie1 Yeah, I loved that as a child

So much nostalgia! thanks!
if I was to choose one program that brought back the fondest childhood memories it would absolutely be Emmit Otters Jugband Christmas! Thanks so much for this video, lots of nostalgia for sure:)
I love how everyone who watches this identifies with a different puppet!
+The Carpetbagger I think that's why the comment section is so important. We learn about each other's life thru their comments.
Great one Jacob ,man relived some great moments & memories with my kids & grandchildren in this video of great characters!
Thank you!
I'm sure someone has already commented this, but Dog City was an amazing show and I remember watching it a lot as a kid! It had a weird time slot so I don't think a lot of people actually watched it. What a cool museum!!
Oh man Dark Crystal and the dog from Storyteller haven't seen those in so long used to love em even though they terrified me.
Love Jim Henson. I am currently finishing a Dark Crystal chest piece. And before you ask, yes. It hurts.
1:15

I'll go in September when I go to Dragoncon
really cool I love the Muppets
Fraggle Rock is my favorite!
Awesome video Jacob, you've brought back some of my childhood :)
Sex and Violence was the Muppet Show's pilot episode.
+Nicholas Martin Wow, can't believe they used that name
+The Carpetbagger The opening gag pictures a large structure reading "Sex and Violence" with a voice-over saying "Ladies and Gentlemen, presenting the end of sex and violence on television." Crazy Harry then comes in and blows up the structure.
The entire episode includes a bunch of random scenes and gags with the main plot being a "Seven Deadly Sins Pageant" a theatre (not the Muppet theatre) is putting on. These deadly sins are the puppets housed in the display.
I believe “Sex and Violence” was an early pilot for “The Muppet Show.” It aired on ABC.
As a past museum manager of the Center for Puppetry Arts, thank you for getting the word out on this magical place! Did you not go into the Labyrinth movie special exhibit and see costumes worn by David Bowie? It is no longer there but the Dark Crystal will be coming soon so you will need to go back!
PS: I can probably answer any questions on puppets and Puppetry if anyone has questions.
I love Jim Henson, He's my idol I make puppets and one day i wanna be just like him!
I've seen those Coraline puppets before at Universal Studios Hollywood
I'm not really a puppet enthusiast but I'm impressed. This is quite a place. 2:13 I remember that Camel from the Muppet Show! His name is Sopwith!
greetings from the Brusselsman, in Belgium and the Nedherlands is the name of big burd " Pieno "
That is awesome!
I love you Kermit the frog 😘😘😘😘😘😘😘
Kermit, Jim Henson's alter ego. He's the muppet Henson "lived" through. That's why he's the "King" of the muppet's.
+Danny Boy So its like his Avatar?
The Carpetbagger Yes
2:27 kinda looks like rover from the carousel of progress
That's also the same dog from "Carousel of Progress"
Very cool!
Another great video man!!

I will send you some stories and my video from there to your FB page - I am Kathy Goodwin on FB
Your videos make me happy when I'm sad they are the best
And I don't know what I'd do without you making videos. Also have one question: when will you explore another abandoned place?
Keep up the good work :)
+John Cena I have a few abandoned videos I still need to upload
It's always a special video when you love what your filming. Thanks for sharing your own cherished memories with us. Are you on vacation now? If so have fun..fun...fun. I wonder where Cookie Monster was? That's my own nickname cos my last name is Cook and I love cookies. :)
+Vickie Cook Cookie monster was missing, wasn't he?
Wow! There's my childhood right there down to Gumby and Pokey! Where is your theme song from?
+Francine Scott My son does my theme song. I loved Gumby and Pokey
Looking for places you went to near me this was close its an hour drive lol
gumby and pokey should have had their own showcase - and since they were there did you see Mr. Bill?? please tell me you know who Mr. Bill is lol -- do you remember "not the mama"??
+jmarylastone not the mama is really familiar but don't remember him/her. Please enlighten us.
Vickie Cook it was a very stupid but very popular dinosaur puppet thing - had some funny parts but one of those shows that you wonder how they lasted so long - look them up on youtube (just type in "not the momma" or momma/mama?? don't remember the correct spelling)
Thank you....I'll look it up!
+jmarylastone I remember Mr. Bill on "Saturday Night Live". I even had a couple Mr. Bill t-shirts! "Hoo-hoo, kiddies!" Did I ever laugh watching him in around 1979.
+jmarylastone "Let's put Mr. Bill in the washing machine". "Noooooooo, Mr. Hand".
WHERE IS THIS PLACE
What about Bil Baird, Tony Sarg and the many other great puppet masters before Jim Henson!
6:03
JENNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN
AHHHHH
Dark Crystal and Labyrinth are my favorite Jim Henson movies OuO
oh my gosh I just realized
what if someone made an mmorpg that takes place a while after the end of DC, where Gelflings have semi re populated, but some dark force shatters the crystal and everyone is sent on quests to piece it back together and fight dark enemies... and you could be a Gelfling and choose your class and everything
yesssss
I want that now. I want that now so badly. Let me be a Gelfling.
At 2:34, you get the Thumbnail for you weird people
go in December
1:24
*ALMOST PUKES FROM EXCITEMENT*
TIM BURTON AND HENRY SELICK. TIM BURTON IS MY ALL TIME FAVORITE ARTIST/DIRECTOR. OMFG.
TO BE THIS CLOSE TO ITEMS FROM ONE OF THEIR MOVIES. I WOULD.... I WOULD... I WOULD GET DOWN ON MY KNEES AND CRY.
I WOULD GROVEL.
or I would just start singing "Remains of the Day" out loud. One of the two.
+CosplayCore this place is amazing , check it out
your name is historic ;)
The dog from The Storyteller kind of looks like the dog from Fraggle Rock ("Sprocket")...
Excellent collection,,, is it a traveling collection or does it stay put? good day to you.. Sass
Its permanent in Atlanta, opened recently
I really just want to know if I'm related to Jim Henson
Is this the museum that has the 1995 Pinocchio from Jim Henson's Creature Shop Productions? I would like to know. He's the first puppet I ever wanted to see in person really badly.
+CosplayCore I don't recall that puppet
Those puppets are creepy!!
Do you know what Shaun The Sheep is? I wish he was in that museum.
Not sure who that is
Look him up, he is a cool character
+TheAnimatronicFollower Yeah, Shaun should be there along side of Pingu.
yeah
Creepy...
That was fun :) Thanks so much!
