Excellent video Louis. Thanks for your concern that we were not involved in the whole process. Really shows your sincere efforts to teach the youtube crowd. Respect.
Good morning Luis! Great video again diagnosing and repairing a faulty clutch. The car interior by the way for a 2011 vehicle looks immaculate and I suspect the parts replaced were original or quality OEM parts, oils not scrimping over used parts. Would you mind sharing the video fix for the megatronic unit recorded 24:35 on your current video clip? Pleased you had time to cook a Sunday meal for the hungry family and hope that your busy colleague Elder received a few bottles of lagers for helping out 😊
Exelent like always Louis! But next time, please do your video about mehatronic repair or rebuild. Your videos are quite detailed and that is what we are here. Thanks like always
Not a rumour about the oil Luis. It is true. Just like "universal" ATF oil. Don't use it. Further, 👍👍👍great job. ( edit ) I was thinking, this is actually not a job for anyone who want to save some money on a repair. I have seen 3 clutch changes, done by " mechanics ", that came to us after major failures. For some people it is not as straightforward. If they would have read a repair manual instead of watching a video it might have saved them some trouble.
Gear oil capacity is 1,7ltr in a DSG DQ200. In the beginning of the video you mentioned 2 ltr. Secondly the oil you drained from the gearbox clearly showed metal debris, which is a potential sign of a bearing wear down which you will not see by only looking at the gear wheels through the acces for the Mechatronics. You might expect that these metal debris would gather at the position magnets for the shifter forks, but they could also be collected on the magnet at the bottom af the gear box, which you will only see if you open it. In my opinion the gearbox should have been opened for inspection to clarify any bearing damages. ;)
300ml surely will not make a difference... Lost the count of how many I filled with 2 litres... lol Agree, open the box was probably the best option... but I can only do what the owner is willing to pay for... 👍👍👍
Amazing video, can you please share information where did you buy all parts from? Also interested in cost, as got same issue and don’t know how much I expect to pay local guy. Thank you
As per the video... I did not buy the parts myself... the owner did... But I sm guessing any local car parts shop will be able to get the parts for you... The cost, I guess a garage will charge you the standard clutch replacement... give or take... 👍👍👍

Hi. I have a 2007 Skoda Octavia with the DSG gearbox. After a few miles it keeps jumping into neutral and then won’t work again until you turn the engine off and restart it. It then goes for a bit and then goes back into neutral again. I haven’t got a code reader so any ideas on a possible fault? Thanks.
@@LMAutoRepairs I bought a salvage 2019 108. Repairs all done but it has no power to lots of circuits including the power steering and no power to the OBD port. It starts and runs fine. I am at my wits’ end - it needs your troubleshooting skills! Slightly more to the story, but can go in to that if you are willing to take the job on.
@@LMAutoRepairs I have as best I can. It must be a common issue as most of the circuits that don’t power are inside the car and I am assuming controlled by the BCM. The accident broke the alternator connector, so not sure if that caused a short. The guy who repaired it ran it off a jump pack to move it and it did need some welding. There is always the possibility that he accidentally reversed the jump pack terminals or didn’t fully disconnect the battery when welding. Could either of these have damaged the BCM? I have checked all fuses and all are fine.
@@LMAutoRepairs the circuits not working are OBD port, power steering, electric windows, heater system, radio, interior lights, sidelights (headlights work), indicators (hazards work), wipers. @@LMAutoRepairs it most certainly does! The additional pressure acts on the back of the TCM which causes certain error faults! I have diagnosed and fixed this problem because people tend to think 300ml is not a big deal.
I agree to disagree... There is no pressure inside the gearbox... I am not even sure what you are referring to... The gearbox uses a "splash lubrication" system... Don't know where you think the pressure comes from...
@@LMAutoRepairs I do this for a living I'm just trying to teach you something as you are a dyi'er this is not a hobby for me! Why not put 4 quarts? Or put oil until it weeps out the breather hole at the top? It's just a splash lubrication system correct! Do as you see fit.
Looks to me like it was dunked in water and so rusted off... Both the spigot bearing, the thrust bearings, likely as well as the friction plates on the clutches ground the friction material off, leading to clutch failure...

That's the hydraulic unit... the gearbox itself is a different oil... just to clear things up...☺️
Two tipe of oil 1.7 l for gearbox, 1 l for mecatronic if is a dsg dry dual clatch
Rumour is about gear oil, not hydraulic oil. Tcu is on gear oil side. But seems it doesn't apply all countries.
The gearbox oil has no contact with any exposed electrical components... is the hydraulic oil that does...
