@@johnlewis2883 i disagree he may not have been as good as Ronaldo in some regards but Villa was capable of everything that is expected of a forward and he excelled at most of it. He could expertly finish from any situation, he was highly skilled at set pieces, he had an eye for a final ball and is a great dribbler

Villa was considered world class and he was still underrated. I'm a LFC fan but whenever they played for Spain I always thought Villa was better than Torres when they were both at their peak.

This guy is criminally underated. He scored so many important goals for club and country but he's rarely talked about now. I can't compare him to any players. He had his own playing style. Ridiculously two footed and incredibly ruthless.

I would pin a lot of Spain's national team decline to their inability to replace Villa in the side. He was that integral to their success. Look at his statistics throughout their golden period. He simply was The Man.

Too bad there is no reference to his Valencia time, he was at his best there, 5 magical years ! However what followed next was also fab; I always feel that him and Wayne Rooney are probably the most underrated players in their era and deserved so much more .
