I really like the felt idea. My daughter, son in law and 4 gbrats flew into Boise a couple weeks ago then drove to a friends in McCall, I picked them up xmas eve at Jacksonville Floridas airport. they had snow the whole time they were there

pretty cool. i am just now getting into doing this myself. bought a ford f150 xlt and just ordered a camper shell for it. been waiting for it since it takes 6 to 8 weeks or longer. since then i have been building bed frame and storage compartments for the back bed of the truck. looking forward to go camping once everything is installed. been watching a lot of these videos on how to truck camp. pretty cool with what you can do with amount of space you have.

I am watching this on my iPad in the back of my truck. I’m at a campground with an electric space heater though. I like the idea of the zero degree sleeping bag and the mr buddy. Great video
I found mine used (one year old) on Craigslist but I had to drive a few hours to get it. Facebook marketplace and Craigslist are good options. Sometimes it takes patience but something will come up eventually.

I’ve been watching your videos to get ideas for my truck build. I know inside of ice fishing shacks can get moist when propane is used as a heat source. I know you also switched to diesel in your 2.0 build. Is diesel the way to go even though you have to cut a hole for air input and exhaust?
The diesel heater is really a game changer for me. For years, I used the buddy heater (propane). It works but it's difficult to control the temp - always too hot or too cold. If you run it for any length of time, condensation becomes a real issue. With the diesel heater, things stay dry and comfortable. I can adjust the heat as needed and even though some say reliability is an issue, mine ran all fall, winter, and early spring with zero issues. Even at elevation. The other plus factor is cost to operate. A single gallon of diesel lasts me multiple days vs expensive green propane cylinders that last a couple hours tops. Keep an eye out because I have a new diesel heater full install video coming soon. Thanks again!
I use small "quick grip" type clamps that grab onto the topper latch and the other end under the lip of the tailgate. I should do a video explaining this. Thanks again!
I have a dark fleece material cut down to size for each set of windows. I attached Velcro along the edges which sticks nicely to the carpet liner in my topper. It's quick, simple, and easily removeable if I want some daylight.
How tall are you? I think that that is a short bed but I’m not terribly sure. I just bout a 2018 with a topper on it and have been thinking about camping in mine. My main worry is the sleeping bed length and touching the front and back of the truck bed. Great video!
The truck came with a spray in bed liner. On top of that is a rubber bed mat, it helps reduce the feeling of the ridges in the bed. Then carpet on top.
Out of curiosity how cold was it when you woke up in 20-30f after having the heater on before falling asleep? I'm in the middle of trying to decide on a heat option and may go with what you are using. Just got my cap, built the inside with plywood/2x4s last year and carpeted the setup. Can't wait to take it for a road trip.
I normally sleep with the heater off. I just don't trust them much and a good sleeping bag keeps me plenty warm. Since I made this video, I've been using a 2KW diesel heater instead of the Buddy. Check out my other videos of the installation and how well they work. For once in a while trips, the buddy is just fine. For more regular use, I'd highly recommend a diesel heater. A portable man cave! There are ways you can cook on your Mr. Heater and lots of studies done on how they are safe for continuous burning, but like anything they can fail. I have used my heater for soup etc. Works real well for hot drinks like tea or coffee.
My landlord sold the duplex I was leasing as my lease was about to renew. He refused to offer a month to month lease while it was being sold so I’m out on my ass. Been living in my truck for a week. Thanks for the video. It gives me lots of ideas on how to live in my pickup.

Typically I don't run the heater very long. I only run it to warm up the truck, then shut it off. I do crack a window and have a small USB powered fan to move some air. Most of the condensation I see comes from sleeping through the night.

The felt works because it let’s just enough light in to see during the day. At night, it’s adds enough privacy
