Folded Page Books

- Folded Page Books are an unusual art form, and Tim's friend Gerard Darby returns to the Grand Illusions studio to show some extraordinary examples.
In some cases, every page in the book is folded in exactly the same way - normally there are several folds. This will mean that instead of the edges of the pages being flat, there will now be a three dimensional shape.
However it is also possible to gradually vary the folding as you work through the pages of the book, which creates a more complex 3D shape. Наука
We've been spoiled with 2 ultra-quality cameras, I appreciate the other angle, it gives a sense of depth to the book art
I actually did this to about 100 books or so but then the library kicked me out. Some people don't appreciate art.
😆
I'm surprised they didn't call the cops on you and shout "Book 'em, Dano".

Beautiful.
Now I'm tempted to turn our old encyclopedia into a work of art.
Its always nice to see Gerard Darby back for a part 3. Wonderful collection of folded books.
I gave only discovered your channel today August 2022, but some of your "toys" are very interesting and fun.
This video demonstrates a craft/hobby called book folding. I have done several myself with some simple or complicated, intricate pictures and/or messages. There are two different techniques folding and cut and fold.
It's very time consuming as each page has to be exact to less than 1mm of accuracy but can be really gorgeous.
Cut and fold is the most demanding in terms of concentration and time, as cuts once made, cannot be uncut.
I had to stop doing them in the end as they take up quite a lot of room to display. I used to decorate the covers as well and give them as gifts as well as kept some myself.
I had to stop making them in the end as we all ran out of room to display them properly.
Keep giving fun with your toys! :-D
I think it’s so funny how an English accent makes everything sound so sophisticated
I think it's mainly to do with the English being so sophisticated!
@@Dizzula Don't believe the hype.
@@Dizzula hate to burst your bubble but...
Nice to see Gerard make another visit! I've seem your book art pieces before Tim, but my goodness all these other ones yoi've shown today are crazy! The level of patience alone to make something like that is well beyond me.
The return of the Dynamic Duo!! 🙌
Make more videos with this guy.
They have two other videos called "Amazing Book Art" and "One Ring To Rule Them All..." from 3 months ago with the same guy, if you haven't seen them yet!
I would love if text books were made like this, you would not have to read them,
You're the only one, who's understood the meaning and the message of this incredible video...
The first book Gerard presents looks like the hoof of a Clydesdale horse.
Awesome video! Could your team add closed captions? It would let a lot more people enjoy your videos.
When you bring up the video controls there's a closed captioning button that you can click on the top right hand corner.
@@danw4237 I know. This video only has auto-generated captions and not captions done by the channel.
There's no need for captions, unless you can't speak English, though perhaps I may understand better because of all the British television I have watched on PBS my whole life. And there's the Monty Python and film. It's a tad subtle I guess, lilty.
@@JSTNtheWZRD Deaf people, hard of hearing people, non-native speakers, and people with learning/language disabilities all benefit from captions. Heck, they're sometimes useful just because the sound is quiet or the speaker mumbles.
@@hiimcrazyfordrwho ah! I thought they offered it or something as a service for disabled folk. Yes, I always believed the hard of hearing etc have always not had it easy at all. I wanted to petition the government to but a section of wave and color on the TV screen so one could see dramatic moments in the music of a film which is drastic to the plot line of a story.
Thanks!
Love your videos!
Excellent, thank you!
Always a pleasure.
I would love a TV show of this, kinda like Antique Road Show but it's of toys and gimmicks of all sorts.
thank you Tim!! 😊
That is quite fascinating! Lovely craftwork done on something as banal and unassuming as a textbook.
Amazing stuff!
The last one was such a work of art, I could stare at it as much as I would a Munch painting or a Picasso. I must try it one day.
Yoooo those are so cool!
Beautiful
These are so interesting books
Best show guest yet XD
Woo Hoo!!!
Has Tim met his match?? 👋
*This man is an international treasure and should be protected at all cost*
Are you the guy from curiosity show?
The Australian TV show from the '70s/'80s?
@@JanetStarChild Yes!
genius idea to cut out pictures so the book's plot becomes readily viewable.
Hey dear grandpa :) I came here to sleep.
Tim constantly interrupting and talking over him always makes these awkward viewings for me. Funny though.
yes. in addition, Tim is not as gentle as his guest is, so i am always a bit tense when Tim touches his guest's ephemera.
Think they're just excited

Tim has many collector friends like himself and Gerald! I can only imagine how fun and whimsical their meets, gatherings and parties are! 🪄🎩😊😊
And how do I get an invitation! ☺️
@@mamuteddymad By being an equally whimsical collector.
