    I think you guys were pretty hard on their rookie production. I’m not shocked that they had limited rookie production behind Jamaar, Tee and TB. They were always succession plans behind those guys so they didn’t have to come in and be expected to immediately contribute. Of course it’s a big prove it year for them now because they will have more opportunities this year, but I was more encouraged by them than you guys were.

  • @NathanDean79
    @NathanDean79 23 дня назад +3

    If Burrow gets the play action going he is going to dominate this year. I’m an optimist by nature. I am EXTREMELY optimistic about this year. I think the Bengals are the 1 seed and Burrow wins league MVP AND Super Bowl MVP. 1st team All Pro for Burrow and Chase. Tee Higgins makes the Pro Bowl and ups his value even more. Sam Hubbard finally reaches 10 sacks in the regular season. In 2021 he had over 10 but only 7.5 in the regular season. I think Chase Brown is going to play great. I think Myles Murphy and Joseph Ossai are going to be great. It’s also a contract year for Cam Sample. I think Burton is going to hit the ground running and have 50 catches and 800+ yards. I think Trent Brown will play the first 13-14 games. I’m not predicting that he plays 20 games though. At some point Mims will have to step in and I think it will be a seamless transition. I think we won’t recognize Volson this year. I think he is going to be so much improved that we won’t recognize him. I think Kris Jenkins will have a big year and add about 3’sacks. I think MnKinnly Jackson will probably get off to a rough start but about mid season as he gets stronger he will start to look a like a third round pick. I think he is going to be a great player. Maybe even better than Reader is. I think the secondary is going to be a lot better this year. DJ Turner has close to a year of experience and CTB is going to play at a Pro Bowl level like he did last year. I think Dax Will get outside CB snaps and slot snaps and put in to cover all these great TEs we will be playing. If I’m the Bengals I add Tre Flowers. He has played here before and knows the system. He is 6’3’’ 200 lbs and has 33 inch arms. We don’t have a CB as long as he is. I would bring him back for backup if nothing else. He can start if need be too. Either Flowers or Apple. I would bring one of them
    Back.

    Just based on what I saw last night and in college I think Myles Murphy will be a double digit sacks guy. Also I expect Sam
    Hubbard to finally cross the
    10 sack threshold. And Sam gets a lot of pressures every year too James. He isn’t just a run stopper. He had 8.5 sacks his second year and in 2021 he had 7.5 in the regular season and 3.5 in the playoffs. That’s pretty dam good.

    The Bengals need to go ahead and pay Evan McPherson. He has been phenomenal this far in his career. He was a steal in the 5th round. I don’t think people realize how critical that you have a kicker who can perform under pressure. How many games did even win us in 2021? I know in game 1 of that year he kicked the game winning field goal. I would sign McPherson up to a 4-5 year deal and give him a nice signing bonus of 3 or 4 million or so. And also I would give Cal Adomitis an extension too. 3-4 years for him. He has been absolutely flawless. I would give him about a million dollar signing bonus too. Happy players play better. And you can’t find a kicker and a long snapper as good as Cal and Evan. You just can’t. They are the best. Cal is so good it’s amazing someone didn’t use a 7th round pick on him. He was 1st Team All American at Pitt. He was the best in the country. And I don’t know who the backup long snapper is now. It used to be Mitch Wilcox I would train either Drew Sample or Tanner Hudson how to do it. You need backups for ever position. Say we lost our punter then Evan couple do it. If not Logan Wilson could punt the ball. He was his teams Punter and safety all through HS and even punted some at Wyoming. I would have him practicing that occasionally. If 2022 taught me anything it’s that when your long snapper goes down you are fucked. We need someone who can do it at least a little bit. Wilcox
    Wasn’t terrible at it but if that snap on that field goal had not been so high we win that game against the Steelers.

    With Charlie and Andre the Bengals had more than enough opportunities to get them reps and see what they had. They either weren’t showing enough in practice to get on the field and they were whiffed picks or the Bengals are now deciding to see what they have in a Super Bowl window year……

  • @NathanDean79
    @NathanDean79 23 дня назад

    Jones is an electric punt and kick returner. His 3rd punt was ran back 81 yards for a TD. That is crazy. I will expect a few more of those this year or at least 1. Jones didn’t get to play a lot last year because he had nagging injuries and aside from punt returns they really didn’t need him. Their roles will expand this year.

    I was someone who didn't think or want a WR in the draft leading up to it whether it was a plan b to Tee Higgins leaving or not (never felt like they needed to find a plan B amongst the contract situation). But for the sake of conversation. We took Charlie Jones in the 4th last year. (was also a surprise for me). Yoshi was a late round pick which is something that I didn't feel was important.
    One point a fan had made after the draft this year that stuck with me is that fans shouldn't be too critical for players drafted in the 5th and later rounds because at that point they are just flyers on a roster spot hoping to be a value pick based on their potential. I completely agree.
    Now, the reason why I am writing all this is that I personally didn't have much confidence in the second year WRs to be the answer to Tee leaving nor good enough to answer the need for a new WR3 with Boyd being gone. (I agreed with the org moving on from him). All in all. I appreciate Chuck sizzle showing up last season with his punt return TD which confirms his special teams value. In the same way I respect Yoshi for making the most of his Redzone targets in his limited amount of snaps.
    Happy with what we have in WR room going into this season as a fan who was very reluctant and against of seeing it as a position of need.

    You have to run the ball effectively from under center for there to be reason for the backside DE to crash to close down the cutback lane. Otherwise he's not worried about the cutback and looking to hammer the QB on the naked. Have to run the ball and the PA as part of the offense; not just to check a box. ie any team can run a screen play but screens work and teams become screen teams bc of the organic nature and cohesiveness of them, not just design.

    I just saw on twitter that the Bengals got screwed over by the schedule makers. Apparently we've got is worst in the NFL when it comes to opponents having a rest advantage and time to prepare. They also added in the 3 games in 10 days and all that together made Cincy rank 32 out of 32. Teams at a rest disadvantage have more injuries in those games and have a harder time winning and beating the spread. It wasn't just a random person who charts all this data either

    Burrow is what it is, he’s on par with Maholmes when healthy. His only problem is the coaching. He’s fantastic, the receivers are all fantastic! It’s up to the coaches to scheme them open. Come on, how many rookie receivers, tight ends, were killing it last year? They’ve been playing football most of their lives! We should have the most potent passing attack in the league! Come on Zac, act like you’ve been there! We should rock and roll this year! Let’s Go! Who Dey !!! Super Bowl or Bust !!!!!

    • @Joeknows09
      @Joeknows09 23 дня назад

      I agree with most of that. But, you have to remember, a lot of times, the head coach doesn't have a whole lot to do with play calling or even scheme on a lot of occasions. Zac is good at creating a great culture and chemistry in the locker room and things of that nature. But over the last few years, he will absolutely drive me nuts with some of the things he will do or not do during games. I think he's at least cut down on that some recently. But I was never crazy about Callahan's scheme, and I'm hoping this new coordinator utilizes all our weapons and brings more motion and misdirection to keep teams guessing. We've been too vanilla. Gotta keep with the times

    Yea I almost didn’t recognize Myles Murphy. Last season he was great when he played but he looked kind of squishy like he still had a lot of baby fat on him. He looks like a fuckin rock this year. If I didn’t know his number was 99 I do not think I would have recognized him. We got a steal at the 28th pick. Of course Myles Murphy will have a better year 2. Have you seen him?? He looks like he dropped about 5% of his body fat and replaced it with pure muscle. He is in football shape now. He wasn’t in football shape last year. He was in combine shape. 2 different things. Also contract year for Higgins so he should be motivated to have a career year. Joseph Ossai and Cam Sample are both in contract years too. I think Ossai is going to have a breakout year. I think the 5th Edge spot will be a contest between Sample and Cedric Johnson. If I was in charge of the Bengals I would instruct Cam Sample to get his weight up to 285 lbs and I would transition him to primarily a 3-4 DE or a 3 technique in a 4-3. Or a DT in a 5-2. Basically I would primarily line him up at 3, 4, or 5 technique because I’m pretty sure that Cedric Johnson is making this team. And I would not wasn’t to lose Sample. But between Ossai and Sample Ossai is the better player. When he plays. He has to stay healthy most of this year and actually play. He knows that and I think he will have a Bryce Huff kind of season this year.

  • @NathanDean79

    Shedrick Jackson is one of the fastest guys in the NFL. So is DJ Turner. Jackson ran a 4.25 at Auburn and Turner a 4.26. If I’m the Bengals I would be training Jackson to return kickoffs. When he gets in the open field no one can catch him.

  • @NathanDean79
    @NathanDean79 23 дня назад

    This is what I think. This year Burton, Charlie Jones, and Iosivas will all take turns playing WR3 and Irwin will be our trusty reliable WR4. In 2025 Tee will be gone and Burton will move up to WR3. I believe that Iosivas and Jones will split the role of WE3. And Jones will remain out return specialist. I believe reforms will be Jones primary role. But he will also catch passes. I sense something about Iosivas and I think he is going to be a great player. I think he will break 1000’yards in the next 2 years. These young guys are all hungry. Myles Murphy is going to be a pass rush Monster. And unlike a lot of you I have faith in Joseph Ossai. I think he is going to have a Bryce Huff kind of breakout year this year. He has all the tools and does he have the will
    Will be the question. I think he does. I think Ossai is going to have 8-10 sacks this year. I mean LOOK at his measurables for Christ sake. DE’s never have 42 inch verticals or 11 foot broad jumps. It is absurd. Ossai did and he was a 1st team All
    American at Texas. They don’t give you that award without a dam good reason.

    What is it with Charlie jones and the fascination... Zac just got a 2nd late 1st round talent in burton... stop overthinking this... Jones will be the returner 1st the wr off the bench... Burton is better period and he'll be on the field 1st if he gets the offense... i still recall Jones giving up in a deep route that was thrown to him so he's got more to prove period. I don’t think Murphy gets 10 sacks this year. I think he will get 7-9. I think Ossai will have 10 though. Murphys Carter trajectory is similar to the Packers Rashan Gary. They are both 1st round picks and are almost identical in size. Gary’s first year he had 21 tackles and 2 sacks. He obviously wasn’t starting yet so he played sparingly like Murphy did last year. Murphy had 20 tackles 3 sacks last year. Gary’s second year he started 4 games and played in most games. He had 35 tackles and 5 sacks. So he got a little better. I expect Murphy to have a minimum of 7 sacks this year. 6 or 7. Gary’s third year he becomes a full time starter and has 47 tackles and 9.5 sacks. I expect Murphy to reach double digits his third year. Gary’s 4th year he only played 9 games so he must have been injured but he had 6 sacks that year. His 5th year he was back starting which was last year 2023 season he had 44 tackles and 9 sacks. Which isn’t bad by any means I would take that but I think Murphy is going to be a bit better than Gary. They are the same size but Murphy is faster for one. Gary’s RAS is 9.85 and Murphys is 9.78.

    I’m usually not that guy but will be today.
    It would be nice if James at least acted as if he were listening to Jake when he speaks; other than 90% of the time when he’s either looking down or away from the screen while he reads his phone or computer screen. It’s common courtesy, man, even if you hear his words and respond appropriately. People look at the other person in the eye when spoken to, so the same should go here. I know you’re in different locations but at least look at the screen as if you care about what Jake is saying. The perception/message your body language gives is that you could care less, even if you do (check out the 14:15 mark). It’s not a good look.

    I think Iosivas will have more catches than Jones this year. I think Jones will have 1-2 punt return TDs. I don’t think Jones will be totally utilized until 2025 when Tee is gone. This team has a plethora of good pass catchers. Even if you have an injury here or there I do not think it will slow us down one bit.

    Hubbard can rush the passer. He can get you a sack when you need it the most just like Trey can. I say this all the time and I’ll
    Say it again. Of ALL tje DE’s or edge rushers in Hubbards 2018 draft class Sam Hubbard has the most Sacks, Tackles, Forced Fumbles. And he was a 3rd round pick. That more than Josh Sweat who played for the Eagles and more than top 15 pick Marcus Davenport. A lot more in Davenports case. Hubbard leads all the edges who were drafted in 2018. I mean what does this guy have to do to make you think he is good at this?

    IF Borrow is tossing to Chase Higgens and Boyd HOW will Charlie Jones get any targets?
    Once again DOG ON THE BENGALS PODCATS I KEEP SAYING IT!!!
    Think about why first then get back to me HAHAHAH Charlie Jones was lucky to get the targets he got... It's not that he can't play football get real guys This is getting crazy... You constantly dog Bengals players what's up with that... Even when Borrow is tossing to the number 1 or 2 guy... That means Jones won't get targeted guys WOW!!!! I shouldn't have to say this ... HAHAHAHAHA This to me is the same thing as saying Mixen couldn't block when 90% of his snaps he was running a receiver route HAHAH The blocks I see from him on the last few years highlight films he is blocking GREAT or was... Every time he was still back in the box he blocked his man I think I remember one miss... It's in the highlights man... But y'all said he was bad at blocking because his numbers BUT the numbers are skewed. I said that when Mixon was traded... Every media outlet was talking bad about Mixon until he got traded... NOW the very same people who dogged Mixon actually looked at his film and are saying he is "one of the best" now which is it??? OK So, When Jones is a number 3 or 4 receiver on the list and Borrow finds Chase or Higgens or even Boyd first last year then that was Charlie Jone's fault right? HAHAHAh Makes no since to me. That is what you guys just said!
    OK I'll Offer this to you... IF our front line does much better OUR explosive plays will double!!!! We will also have a better run game with BETTER BLOCKING from the front line... Lets hear it ...Insults incoming? HAHAHAH

      @@BengalsNation632 No, he literally does not. He's not nearly as available, he doesn't elevate players around him, he does't keep the Bengals in the thick of everything at all times. He has none of the accolades or accomplishments. There's nothing similar about them. Burrow is inferior. Tom Brady is the greatest of all time perhaps across all sports. Burrow hasn't won anything and is injured all the time.

      @@JordanT3025 Not at all. But he's the greatest to ever do it and this insistence that Burrow is in any way comparable diminishes the greatness that was Brady. You can't put yourself on equal stature to greatness by pulling it down, which is what is being done when these silly folks compare Burrow to Brady. It's what we do in our society as well. Any example of it being done should be scorned.
