It’s gorgeous. But had I not watched you do it, I should have struggled to believe it was done with crayons! Bravo!
Great picture! My, what that would have looked like with good colored pencils!
One time, I decided to color with Crayola Crayons in a child’s coloring book with my grandchildren. Great fun by the way! I was frustrated at first with how the crayons laid down, having been spoiled on colored pencils until I realized I could use some odorless mineral spirits to break down the waxy buildup. I was next able to lay down more layers...again, using more mineral spirits for each subsequent layer. I was amazed at how great it looked then, considering what tools I was using.
Also, if you buy the set of Crayola Crayons with a much larger variety of colors that has a sharpener on the bottom of the side of the cardboard packaging, you can get pretty straight edges if drawing with them. Further, I was coloring on VERY inferior paper in the coloring book and, as I said, was still somewhat pleased with the result. I can’t imagine how it would have been on some quality paper.
I’ve actually considered, now, using regular Crayola Crayons on the backgrounds of my adult coloring books and other projects. My reasoning is that I was wondering how much I would save on my high-end pencils. For I would reserve the use of the colored pencils for detail work along with not having the annoying scratchy look all over the background. It’s just that colored pencils never seem to blend out no matter what or who is coloring it in (with the exception of Chris Cheng, hahaha); and as I said the crayons seem to go down like five times faster, saving on my hand muscles.
I did buy a bunch of oil pastels to do backgrounds and such in order to get rid of the scratchy look and have the process of coloring in the backgrounds all go much more quickly. But honestly, oil pastels have a different look and feel from colored pencils whereas crayons seem to have a very similar look and feel oddly enough. I really enjoy my oil pastels, but I think they should be limited to work in art by themselves. I have heard that Holbein’s have a similar look and texture to oil pastels. So I am looking into getting some of those eventually when finances permit. If they end up not really going well with my oil pastels, well then, I have another beautiful set of colored pencils that has a terrific array of pastel colors (not to be mixed up with soft and oil pastel art tools).
I just thought you or others reading this comment might benefit from another’s further experimentation with Crayola Crayons. If not, no harm no foul.
OK so I draw with crayons a lot not quite realism but my own style and all I have to say is you can definitely sharpen them with a regular sharpener as long as you run a regular pencil through the sharpener every once in a while to clean off the wax from the blade second Derwent so something called a pencil extender they have a larger one and a smaller one the larger silver one can hold a crayon so that makes it a bit easier to hold for people with bigger hands like me
Wow! This looks absolutely beautiful!!!
Best crayon art ever!!!❤
I love it! 👍🏻👍🏻🙏💕
Beautiful drawing
Looks great!! Good job 👏👍
Lee Hammond has a book titled Amazing Crayon Drawing And there is actually a sharpener specifically for crayons. Like others already stated, once again beautiful work.
A great way to save your hand when working with this type of crayon is to use a heated surface. No need to buy a warming board if you have an electric heating pad around the house. Remove the fabric cover from the pad and place a thin metal or glass surface over the top. The crayons will melt right on to the paper!
Absolutely gorgeous creation. I took a tutorial at Coloring Bliss and my artwork was a big surprise for me. Mine was smaller than yours, about 8x10 and it took me 8 hours. I had never worked seriously with crayons, so I took on the challenge. I love realistic colored pencil, watercolor and gouache. Hoping to experiment more with crayons. Thanks for this video.
That is so cool! I love the results! Keep up the awesome!
IT looks so beautiful Gemma💗💗💗

Look as good as colored pencils but cheaper and faster tecnique, I guess. Beautiful job.
I think they do have crayon sharpeners tho
I LOVE that you get absolutely amazing results!...even with crayons
How's your hand? 😬
Thanks! My hand is just about recovered now, using pencils again and feeling much better!😂
Can I buy a print how much?
Bruh how do you do that I could barely stay in the lines with crayons!!!
Please, I need your help😢 so, I'm good with only pencil art, and I really want to see some glow of colors in my drawings.
