I'm still so mad about how when they added the Save the World pickaxes to BR, instead of having them scale from common to legendary, they all became uncommon.

Ikr it's so annoying cause my locker has 300+ skins & I already have a skin I love equipped & just because I edited a style on a old skin now I have to scroll back up/down looking for the skin I just equipped & put it back on.
They just love making pointless changes, dont they? They said "this will not affect prices" but it completely does. Every single collab skin thats came out since have all been 2000 vbucks, thats 20 dollars
Legendary still exists you just wouldn’t see the background but that whole system of 800, 1,200, 1,500, 2,000 is still present. Some skins are also sold in a bundle with a pickaxe making them 2,000. Some skins were also legendary 6 years ago and are outdated now. If they truly removed rarity the economy would change.
I mean they kinda phased out legendary skins with the start of chapter 2. Nowadays whenever a skin costs 2000 it usually includes a pickaxe or like an emote. Still think we need skin rarities
I miss when everyone was hyped to get a legendary skin. It was considered the coolest possible rarity in chapter 1. But I think now they're subliminally doing this to increase interest in collab skins like Marvel and Icon Series because they look better in your locker now.
@logicrblx4540 as someone who no longer has my og ch1s4 account with the og marvel battle pass, I bought this pass right away not just because the skins are good, but also because I felt a need for more marvel skins in my locker. I’m level 80 now and since i got all these marvel cosmetics, my locker looks almost as stacked as it used to be for some reason.
You know they chose the rarity anyway right? They don't overcharge cosmetics because then people would've complained. What is overcharging is them choosing the old skins to be rare/legendary when they were just defaults and/or ugly ones with no backblings like leviathan and flytrap. Compare 2k v-bucks then to 2k v-bucks now getting you a bundle of items.
the biggest thing for me in the new locker is the way presets have been broken apart and scattered and after every game you need to go switch your skin preset, emote preset, wrap preset, car preset, lobby preset, and instrument preset if thats your thing then queue back up, when in chapter 4 it was ONE CLICK collecting skins was so fun for me because id unlock like say spiderman and be excited to look through my emotes like "oo that fits spiderman, thats something he would do!" and choose the wrap and everything and really express myself with my presets, but now that they're all spread out i dont get excited for that anymore, i no longer even change my emotes or save emote presets, now everything is just 1 giant 3 wide column of skins that i cant even look at them all to appreciate, the old system had them sprawling from one side of the screen to the other so i could really see all of my presets, and collecting these presets and allowing me to express myself is what made me buy skins i otherwise wouldnt if i had a cool combo in mind with them now i stick to the same 5 skins, never buy non collab skins and even when i do its a rarity because IM OUT OF PRESET SLOTS TO PUT THEM SO WHY BOTHER, and never change my wrap or emotes or anything because they made everything such a hassle it really sucks, i wish they'd revert it or atleast make "preset bundles" where you can bundle your presets into one mega preset that changes everything in one click like the old locker used to, but thats a good idea so they wont do it, it all just sucks man
i'm pretty sure i'm not alone in this, but the absolute worst feeling thing about this whole stupid change is the battle passes. knowing you were gonna get a legendary skin at the end of each and every single one was such an awesome feeling, and now it makes it look like the tier 100 is nothing more than just another skin to collect. i hate it so, so much. i miss cosmetic rarities so much

Getting a legendary skin in the shop for the first time felt amazing, maybe its just me, but knowing the fact it was “Legendary” was amazing and made it more special to me back then
My silver lining from the removal of rarities has that I now give what was low rarity skins/backblings a second look Prior to this update, I would never create skin combos with uncommon items, but with the removal of the colors, I now pay attention to items I've had for years that I've blatantly ignored.
It feels like Fortnite is drifting further away from what made it special for the community. Every time the developers seem to listen and give us what we’ve been asking for, they throw in some unexpected twist that complicates things. We’re left wondering if they truly understand what we want or if they’re just trying to keep us on our toes. It’s like they’re more focused on creating hype than fostering the community that has supported them from the beginning. and then they go around giving us updates, we didn't even ask for!!
One of my least favourite parts about the new locker isn’t even removing the rarities, I just hate the fact that the emotes, lobby items, etc are all in separate tabs with separate presets. I set up a lot of my skins with coexisting emotes and stuff to match the skin, but now whenever I wanna swap to a certain skin preset, I’ve gotta go and change the emote preset, lobby preset, car preset, it’s all very tedious and annoying and I hope that they implement something that lets you attach separate presets together so you don’t have to keep switching things around and flipping between tabs just to make sure you’ve put everything together properly.
I miss the old ui, old battlepasses, old lockers, everything. I also miss when collab skins weren't locked away by an older battlepass never to be seen again
Fortnite needs to stop changing things that don’t need to be changed. The lobby, item shop, locker, quests, legacy achievements, and win stats are so messed up now
Tim Sweeney and the rest of the higher ups at Epic don’t understand how a video game is supposed to work and are only it for the money and corporate stuff. Glad Donald left before it got bad so his name didn’t get dragged in the mud when he was actually the only who cared about the game itself and not money and collabs.
Chapter 5 ruined everything. Shooting system, movement, basically entire gameplay is ass, also when did fortnite remove siphon? Was it when Ranked came out in I believe C4S2?
6:19 agreed, compared to robux, vbucks is so expensive. The £17 I spent could’ve been spent on a whole indie game purchase, or some hardware, maybe a usb, or way more robux. Instead I spent it on the alien pack and I feel ripped off. I mean, I wanted it but it wasn’t worth the price.
I think disney has to do with rarities removed - they own star wars/marvel and people would buy those skins since they have special rarities, it has happened before they removed rarities but more after rarities removed. The marvel season wasn't too long after rarities were removed.
If you ask me, you’re spitting FACTS! Because my brother and I use to collect all the skins and now that they have no rarity he doesn’t care about them anymore. The gameplay was always a bonus but the skins and rarity and collecting and the locker mattered. My Take- they should’ve added a few new series. Featured/Multiverse: could be ANY SKIN THAT IS A COLLAB (Jack sparrow/sara Conner) Animated: ALL ANIMATED SKINS- Naruto/even the fortnite skins that are animated. And that would’ve been the change that would’ve mattered more, having cosmetics with new rarity would be exciting/ something new and fresh! Not abandoning it all together
ALSO: Fortnite clearly sees its profitable to release marvel skins at whatever value or DC skins at whatever value. But making cyclops 2000 with pickaxe is dumb. And jubilee separate and picksxe separate costs more Vbucks…makes no sense- the cosmetics aren’t even attached to the character

Its so that they can sell cosmetics for a wild upcharge without any consequence because the skins in question dont have any rarity anymore, so they dont have to follow a strict pricing system
Every season this chapter, they made one major change. Season 1 was movement and UI, season 2 was rarities, season 3/4 was ending exclusivity in battle passes.
@scoob_11e27 i used to have an og account, from ch1s4 to about ch3. It had all my favorite skins, such as the ice king, omega, iron man, Midas, and others. I lost the account now and started fresh in ch2s7. I wish I could play as those skins again, but I only can when my friend comes over and lets me use his Xbox. The only reason I’m in this mess of not being able to use those skins again is because of exclusivity. IMO they should have done this earlier.
@@ace_renegade21 that sucks but it doesn’t change my opinion. You’ll never get those skins back unfortunately, but I think Battlepasses should stay the way they were intended. This is no different than the rarities issue, when having an exclusive skin meant something, just like a legendary did. I’m not necessarily against it anymore, the game is kinda bad now.

I But, if I started in chapter 6, and they didn’t make this battle pass exclusive, imagine how mad I would have been if they just kept gatekeeping battle pass. i absolutely hate the entire UI change, i can't think of any change that i liked, just the skins presets, thats it, and i dislike that emotes are not included on those presets

But they weren’t thinking about future players at the time, they prioritized older players, and as a result, newer players may never get the chance to get their favorite characters because epic was more concerned about making people buy the battle pass at the time.

It’s like a business decision probably, they can jack up prices and not have to change rarities which will go under some peoples radars, also it encourages cheaper skins to be bought because you don’t get turned off by the blue or green rarities
I saw so many people say that "No! Epic wouldn't raise prices!" when this change was first done. Now we are getting skins that cost 1.5K V-bucks that don't even have a backbling or 2K V-buck "bundles". I haven't seen a new 800 or 1.2K V-buck skin in a good while.
Alright now name the skins we get now that cost 1.5k without backblings. Also did you forget them making legendaries back in the day which were just terrible like flytrap or Leviathan with nothing. Also there has been new skins lol
They keep bundling up skins now so for example, if you wanted to buy the new Iron Spider skin you’d have to also purchase a weapon wrap, a glider, an emote and a guitar skin. Not even mentioning they really tired to play off the Heroic Hope as a “three item bundle” because it counted the Lego style as an additional bonus
Seeing the rarity line up for all the skins in the locker looked so good. Luckily I am a memory person & took individual photos of my Skins in their rarity. I miss seeing the rarity, just made it so much better.
This was honestly something I was kinda seeing coming. This must’ve been a decision they’ve been making for a looooong time. I say this because the skins used to have the full color in the background, then it was just a bar on the bottom, now it’s just a gray blue. Even when chapter 5 first came out, they still said what a certain skin’s rarity was if you hovered over it. I’m used to alphabetically sorting my stuff now, but the colors gave the skins and locker so much more life.
I know people would say oh it doesn't affect the gameplay but its a thing that you would prefer to have in the game because it just makes your locker colourful and helps you find skins easily
I actually quit Fortnite over the ui and locker changes I have over 500 skins its a absolute pain finding my stuff it feels so slow and looks like a cheap mobile game I dont think im returning any time soon im just so sick of these horrible unnecessary changes I miss when the game had simple graphics and a good movement animation and im so sick of Fortnite not making stuff return because the stupid new lego mode
100% agree with you. I have almost 1,150 skins and it is a nitemare even trying to remember what skins I have. At least with the old system there was subcategories that helped keep track or narrow it down on which skin I was searching for. Fix it Epic.

Same. A lot of stuff got worse about the game... They said the metaverse was going to expand the game, but what happened was we got three game modes that a lot of people don't care about, one game mode heavily limited the battle royale store, the store cosmetics are just rotating the same few things over and over, and Epic Games are just making random decisions to change things that don't need to be changed and end up upsetting people.
The old locker designs from Chapters 1-4 felt colorful and alive without any corporate disease. Why does Epic want to destroy the game. Rarities are outdated BR systems my ass.
I made a couple videos about this topic. The change to the locker UI and removal of cosmetic rarity are just symptoms of the overall corporatization and Disneyfication of Fortnite. The game’s identity is long gone. It’s now just another cog in the Disney machine.
It's good bc you have the different categories like the race mode and battle Royale you don't need to see those in 1 place but like the locker and background thing (with music loading screen and wraps) those needed to be in 1
Not to mention how they separated everything with the new locker like making combos is more annoying because emotes and/or wraps are no longer combined with your skin, back bling and pickaxe. Also removing *every* pickaxe rarity was also pretty dumb. Like sure they're removing rarity but even pickaxes that are part of the Marvel series, Gaming Legends series, Icon Series, etc all show up as grey rarity

This is all corporate greed, corporate greed has taken over this game and it has damaged it significantly. This whole removal of rarities is just the tip of the ice berg of what corporate greed has done to this game.
I really miss rarities, they were just a good way to categorize and find items, as it stands there is no good way to organize the locker anymore, the closest is sorting by season. Also, I remember subscribing because of the Taiga pfp, but I started to watch your videos and you actually have some pretty good commentary, it's legitimate criticism and not just "old fortnite was better" or "modern Fortnite is so great, people only like old Fortnite for nostalgia" You strike a nice middle ground on things that Fortnite has improved over the years, and the stuff they really didn't need to change at all.
Not only were rarities a simple and effective way of sorting your items, but it was just pleasing to look at. Like tell me that gold orange color behind a legendary skin doesn't give you tingles(maybe im just weird) and the change was also just unnecessary. Epic WHO ASKED FOR THIS CHANGE?! That's right no one. You made your game MORE confusing! Just stupid.
The rarity system going away hasnt really bothered me that much, I always sorted based on season so I can still navigate my locker just fine I recommend everyone to switch from alphabetical to season if youre struggling to find the skin you want, I memorize skins based on the season they came out and it makes finding skins a breeze
@@Acidic_101 yeah and I’m saying I’ve never navigated through rarities I preferred using the season filter, so I wasn’t affected by the removal of rarity If everyone just filtered through season nobody would be having issues finding skins
This is what I did after they removed the rarities and it helps, but man it just lost that look that made it feel so accessible, which was mainly the new UI but this certainly didn’t help.
luckily, I already sorted out all my cosmetics from season instead of rarity, but I can fully understand why others would sort based on rarity instead, and there have definitely been instances where I went 'that skin released way earlier than I thought it did.'
I usually just stick to filtering by Season, but I did occasionally try filtering by rarity, and I can't say I didn't try to collect skins with different rarities, especially legendary ones.
I don't think stopping the rarities is a fatal mistake or something as big as you say it, but I do agree that the rarity system was 1,000 times better than this one. I hope they bring it back one day in the near future.
I never thought I'd see the day when people would be begging to be manipulated by a company, holy crap. It's like so many people never realized rarity never meant anything to begin with, it only existed for the sole purpose of manipulating you and everyone else into believing it was more valuable. It does NOTHING for the game, it's purely bad. People are just upset because the veil has finally been pulled back and they can see it for what it is. Skins can be more or less expensive for a variety of reasons, rarity had nothing to do with it. A company might request more of a cut for their collab skin so they make it more expensive to compensate. You never know, nor will you ever. Not the mention, in my opinion, the colors just made everything look worse; it's so much cleaner now. Just organize your locker like with favorites and archives, it's even better like that. If none of that was enough, consider that having your favorite skin be in a green or blue rarity could make you feel bad for NO REASON. Shaming someone for not spending more money is truly scummy beyond comprehension. It sounds like the only thing you want is a way to organize your locker better, if that's the case, then ask for that specifically. I can and will never support the abusive manipulation of human beings for profit, you're sick.
It's 100% to upcharge cosmetic prices. Isn't it funny how the same day they removed rarities we got the Avatar skins released in the shop, and they were all priced at 2000 vbucks each.
Notice how nearly every collab skin after this change is in a forced bundle that costs 2,000 vbucks. Forcibly making people spend more if they only want the skin and not the pickaxes or wraps or whatever they force into the bundle.
I liked going through each new item instead of marking all as read. The new search bar is so annoying that I have not flipped through the majority of items from the last 4 seasons, I have like 20 something skins and well over 100 emotes
It realy isn't an issue. Skin rarities mean nothing. I would understand the uproar of the skin rarities actually related to how rare a skin was, in relation to its returning to the shop. If we're being honest, most of us cannot remember the last time we checked for a skin's rarity. Which is why I find it hilarious how many people are complaining about the removal of the rarity tags.
The color just made Fortnite more bright sucked when they removed half of the color and now they just removed rarity’s 🤦♂️ back then I always wanted a lot of skins because I liked that colorful locker but the new locker just killed that feeling

i'm pretty sure i'm not alone in this, but the absolute worst feeling thing about this whole stupid change is the battle passes. knowing you were gonna get a legendary skin at the end of each and every single one was such an awesome feeling, and now it makes it look like the tier 100 is nothing more than just another skin to collect. i hate it so, so much. i miss cosmetic rarities so much

Getting a legendary skin in the shop for the first time felt amazing, maybe its just me, but knowing the fact it was “Legendary” was amazing and made it more special to me back then

My silver lining from the removal of rarities has that I now give what was low rarity skins/backblings a second look
Prior to this update, I would never create skin combos with uncommon items, but with the removal of the colors, I now pay attention to items I've had for years that I've blatantly ignored.
I think that (optimistically) was the point of taking away rarities. It’s definitely the best way to look at it

It feels like Fortnite is drifting further away from what made it special for the community. Every time the developers seem to listen and give us what we’ve been asking for, they throw in some unexpected twist that complicates things. We’re left wondering if they truly understand what we want or if they’re just trying to keep us on our toes. It’s like they’re more focused on creating hype than fostering the community that has supported them from the beginning. and then they go around giving us updates, we didn't even ask for!!

One of my least favourite parts about the new locker isn’t even removing the rarities, I just hate the fact that the emotes, lobby items, etc are all in separate tabs with separate presets. I set up a lot of my skins with coexisting emotes and stuff to match the skin, but now whenever I wanna swap to a certain skin preset, I’ve gotta go and change the emote preset, lobby preset, car preset, it’s all very tedious and annoying and I hope that they implement something that lets you attach separate presets together so you don’t have to keep switching things around and flipping between tabs just to make sure you’ve put everything together properly.
Its so annoying. I feel like im scrolling netflix now. It takes forever to find anything without a keyboard.
The hole lobby ui sucks, the game modes, Shop, locker, and even the career tab, are all hands down awful

They can also add a sort filter to organise your locker by yourself. So you can choose where your skin must be in the locker.

6:19 agreed, compared to robux, vbucks is so expensive. The £17 I spent could’ve been spent on a whole indie game purchase, or some hardware, maybe a usb, or way more robux. Instead I spent it on the alien pack and I feel ripped off. I mean, I wanted it but it wasn’t worth the price.
I think disney has to do with rarities removed - they own star wars/marvel and people would buy those skins since they have special rarities, it has happened before they removed rarities but more after rarities removed. The marvel season wasn't too long after rarities were removed.
Disney supposedly owns 9% of Fortnite, but it feels like they own 85% of it now with how much it has been collaborating with Fortnite...
If you ask me, you’re spitting FACTS! Because my brother and I use to collect all the skins and now that they have no rarity he doesn’t care about them anymore. The gameplay was always a bonus but the skins and rarity and collecting and the locker mattered.
My Take- they should’ve added a few new series.
Featured/Multiverse: could be ANY SKIN THAT IS A COLLAB (Jack sparrow/sara Conner)
Animated: ALL ANIMATED SKINS- Naruto/even the fortnite skins that are animated.

Every season this chapter, they made one major change. Season 1 was movement and UI, season 2 was rarities, season 3/4 was ending exclusivity in battle passes.
Ending exclusively is also… pretty dumb.
@scoob_11e27 i used to have an og account, from ch1s4 to about ch3. It had all my favorite skins, such as the ice king, omega, iron man, Midas, and others. I lost the account now and started fresh in ch2s7. I wish I could play as those skins again, but I only can when my friend comes over and lets me use his Xbox. The only reason I’m in this mess of not being able to use those skins again is because of exclusivity. IMO they should have done this earlier.
@@ace_renegade21 that sucks but it doesn’t change my opinion. You’ll never get those skins back unfortunately, but I think Battlepasses should stay the way they were intended. This is no different than the rarities issue, when having an exclusive skin meant something, just like a legendary did. I’m not necessarily against it anymore, the game is kinda bad now.

Now we are getting skins that cost 1.5K V-bucks that don't even have a backbling or 2K V-buck "bundles".

Also remember that some collab skins now have multiple versions that you need to buy even though they should just be edit styles

They keep bundling up skins now so for example, if you wanted to buy the new Iron Spider skin you’d have to also purchase a weapon wrap, a glider, an emote and a guitar skin. Not even mentioning they really tired to play off the Heroic Hope as a “three item bundle” because it counted the Lego style as an additional bonus
Seeing the rarity line up for all the skins in the locker looked so good. Luckily I am a memory person & took individual photos of my Skins in their rarity.

This was honestly something I was kinda seeing coming. This must’ve been a decision they’ve been making for a looooong time. I say this because the skins used to have the full color in the background, then it was just a bar on the bottom, now it’s just a gray blue. Even when chapter 5 first came out, they still said what a certain skin’s rarity was if you hovered over it. I’m used to alphabetically sorting my stuff now, but the colors gave the skins and locker so much more life.
I’ve been wanting them to revert this change for months and I’m glad someone is actually talking about this
I know people would say oh it doesn't affect the gameplay but its a thing that you would prefer to have in the game because it just makes your locker colourful and helps you find skins easily

The Locker UI is terrible. The preset loadouts is too small it hides my skins. I wish i could see them from a distance so I can see how many I have.
100% agree with you. I have almost 1,150 skins and it is a nitemare even trying to remember what skins I have. At least with the old system there was subcategories that helped keep track or narrow it down on which skin I was searching for. Fix it Epic.

Recently returned to Fortnite and almost immediately left because of the menu and locker layout, I had no idea how bad it had gotten.
Same. A lot of stuff got worse about the game... They said the metaverse was going to expand the game, but what happened was we got three game modes that a lot of people don't care about, one game mode heavily limited the battle royale store, the store cosmetics are just rotating the same few things over and over, and Epic Games are just making random decisions to change things that don't need to be changed and end up upsetting people.
The old locker designs from Chapters 1-4 felt colorful and alive without any corporate disease. Why does Epic want to destroy the game. Rarities are outdated BR systems my ass.
Why they don't make a movie legends, anime legends etc is so weird to me.

I made a couple videos about this topic. The change to the locker UI and removal of cosmetic rarity are just symptoms of the overall corporatization and Disneyfication of Fortnite. The game’s identity is long gone. It’s now just another cog in the Disney machine.

There was a lawsuit which caused epic to have to remove rarities and add a text showing how long the skin works stay in the item shop.
The locker system didn’t need to be changed, expanded for a new type of cosmetics yes but full on change no.

I really miss rarities, they were just a good way to categorize and find items, as it stands there is no good way to organize the locker anymore, the closest is sorting by season.

The rarity system going away hasnt really bothered me that much, I always sorted based on season so I can still navigate my locker just fine
I recommend everyone to switch from alphabetical to season if youre struggling to find the skin you want, I memorize skins based on the season they came out and it makes finding skins a breeze

luckily, I already sorted out all my cosmetics from season instead of rarity, but I can fully understand why others would sort based on rarity instead, and there have definitely been instances where I went 'that skin released way earlier than I thought it did.'

I usually just stick to filtering by Season, but I did occasionally try filtering by rarity, and I can't say I didn't try to collect skins with different rarities, especially legendary ones.
I don't think stopping the rarities is a fatal mistake or something as big as you say it, but I do agree that the rarity system was 1,000 times better than this one. I hope they bring it back one day in the near future.
I never thought I'd see the day when people would be begging to be manipulated by a company, holy crap. It's like so many people never realized rarity never meant anything to begin with, it only existed for the sole purpose of manipulating you and everyone else into believing it was more valuable. It does NOTHING for the game, it's purely bad.
People are just upset because the veil has finally been pulled back and they can see it for what it is. Skins can be more or less expensive for a variety of reasons, rarity had nothing to do with it. A company might request more of a cut for their collab skin so they make it more expensive to compensate. You never know, nor will you ever.
Not the mention, in my opinion, the colors just made everything look worse; it's so much cleaner now. Just organize your locker like with favorites and archives, it's even better like that.
If none of that was enough, consider that having your favorite skin be in a green or blue rarity could make you feel bad for NO REASON. Shaming someone for not spending more money is truly scummy beyond comprehension.
It sounds like the only thing you want is a way to organize your locker better, if that's the case, then ask for that specifically. I can and will never support the abusive manipulation of human beings for profit, you're sick.

It's 100% to upcharge cosmetic prices. Isn't it funny how the same day they removed rarities we got the Avatar skins released in the shop, and they were all priced at 2000 vbucks each.
Notice how nearly every collab skin after this change is in a forced bundle that costs 2,000 vbucks. Forcibly making people spend more if they only want the skin and not the pickaxes or wraps or whatever they force into the bundle.

I liked going through each new item instead of marking all as read. The new search bar is so annoying that I have not flipped through the majority of items from the last 4 seasons, I have like 20 something skins and well over 100 emotes
It realy isn't an issue. Skin rarities mean nothing. I would understand the uproar of the skin rarities actually related to how rare a skin was, in relation to its returning to the shop. If we're being honest, most of us cannot remember the last time we checked for a skin's rarity. Which is why I find it hilarious how many people are complaining about the removal of the rarity tags.
