"There're better mics on Amazon with names you can't f*cking pronounce!" That killed me!
Thanks for your honesty!
I'm still upset lol
Just scheduled my review and had to come see what other reviews were saying, and yup. Pretty much the exact same conclusion. Why buy this when other XLR/USB mics sound better, or you can even get the XM8500, UM2, etc for $100. Great video Bark!
Thank ya sir. This one kinda blew my mind…..how in the world can this be $130?
Behringer needs to stick with synths
I had to wait until I did my own review before I could watch yours, but I couldn't agree more. I was pumped about this mic until I got it. 😢
It’s beyond terrible
Hey brother, I've been scouring ebay this week and i noticed a TON of counterfeit microphones for sell from major companies, like Shure and Sennheiser. I've also noticed that nobody is talking about it on RUclips. It's killing the used market when you have hundreds of SM58s going for $35. I knew immediately that they were fake, when i saw loads of 7bs for $135. You're the only mic reviewer that i think would actually talk about it. Please do a video warning people. You can even look through the "feedback" of the sellers and see that they have multiple negative reviews calling them fakes. You would think Ebay would do something about it, but they're beholden to Chy-naaaah. Nothing against Chynna as a whole, because they do offer a lot of affordable products that otherwise would not be available to consumers, but counterfeiting undermines our economy. 🤙🏼
It is indeed getting bad. I have talked about it a time or two....and will try to think of it when making some videos so its more of a talking point
Thanks for watching!
@@ObscureMics Thank you!
Sucks a golf ball through a garden hose. Best feature is the mute button.
Easily the best feature
Can I steal the idea of the BBSAR? :) Great job!!
I don't see why not! Thanks!
I wouldn't even pay $15 for that. I used to be a Behringer fan but now I go looking for other options.
I still am a Behringer fan, but this mic is too tinny and harsh. Their own XM8500 and BA 85A mics sound better at $25, and I still use the BA 85A as my live mic, and use both of those plus the B906 on guitar. I lost my SM57 by accident, and I still own an e609, and prefer the Behringer mics for guitar. For my own podcast and VOIP uses, I use either a Zoom ZDM-1 or an SB 78A, and for singing I use both, and comp the two mics together. You can do a lot with cheap, but good, gear, and this mic here is neither good nor cheap. I've hear Pyle mics with a dead XLR pin that sound better.
Behringer went down on my rankings BIG TIME after this
Just received mine today and, sorry to say, I think you may have gotten this one wrong. This mic is not made of plastic. Lightweight metal? Yes. Aluminum would be my guess. But not plastic - at least not from what I can see. I believe the yoke mount, main body, and grill are all made of a lightweight metal. The bottom plate and bottom ring do seem to be made of plastic, as does the "cage" that surrounds the grill. But the majority of the mic seems to be made of metal. Take the 5/8" adapter out of the bottom of the yoke, and you'll clearly see that the inside of the yoke mount is bare metal. Even the shock mount is made of metal. Mine has a little scratch in it, so I can say that for sure. I can't speak to the sound yet, but I think you really need to go back and have another look at the material.
If it's metal it may as well be plastic lol
Thin and hollow is exactly right. I actually like some Behringer products, but this one is a dud. Seems like they raced to get a slice of that XLR/USB “broadcast” dynamic market.
Yeah total cash grab
Before watching: I can say this is the most "this really could go either way and there's no way of telling" review of yours that I've seen
EDIT: After watching: Welp, another Behringer product feeding my theory that they only make good products by accident
I'm 100% on that theory now
Dammit. This is the old style Behringer. We got a doorstop again. The XM8500 and some other products (their cooperation with Midas, talking 'bout the X32/M32), their new interfaces, gave me a lot of hope. But the shouldn't have released this.
Yep...releasing this was a literal joke
@@ObscureMics I think it is very strange. I mean, they listen to the mic before they give it the all clear right?
One would think. I always wonder...whos listening to these (if anyone) before they get the green light? Or do they just say "this capsule is 80 cents, lets roll with that!
The way that thing sounds, I gotta ask, is it really supposed to be an end address mic? If so, did they put the capsule in the right end?
Lol valid question. Can't take that head basket off either....I'm sure it's the cheapest capsule ever
@@ObscureMics TBH, I'd probably use this as an opportunity to see how good Behringer's warranty service is.
The PD400x is the same price, Tank3 is less… and it is built like a tank, looks like behringer mailed this in for a cash grab in the xlr/usb mic wave. 😖
100%. I'm literally appalled
Yikes! Yeah I'm definitely hearing some harsh frequencies.
@@ObscureMics watched /listened again on my Rode NTH-100's. the bottom is completely gone! Holy Cow Forrest...... It's the Lt. Dan of podcast mics. lol. Never thought I would hear a mic that made the XM8500 sound warm and full. This is unreal. yikes.
@@levelupwithmikenewman they should be ashamed
After listening back to other dynamic mics, I will say that while Behringer's D2 Podcast Pro is not terrible overall but is definitely not very good.
I agree that it sounds thin, not just from a lack of low end, but from the top end sounding heavily and harshly coarse. Couple that with the $130 price tag, and you have one of the most disappointing microphones to date that is greatly outclassed by other microphones that cost much less if not almost as much-- the PD200x, PD400x, Fifine Tank 3, Fifine AM8, Audio-Technica ATR2100x, Samson Q2U, Feelworld PM1, and just about almost every other option you can think of, even the more mid-sounding ones-- and that's not getting into the fact some of the other better options have more features if not as much features as the D2 Podcast Pro.
Essentially, you expect better quality for $130, and sadly the D2 Podcast Pro does not live up to it.
Thats it. It is simply outdone by every mic in its class
But, how do you really feel about this mic?
Quite enraged.
AKG D5 or SE V7?
I like the D5 myself
Thank you@@ObscureMics
I was able to secure both mics myself, and I can say in full confidence that both mics are really good and are worth it!
For me, both mics had a level of clarity that made my voice come out without feeling altered and processed and bursting with accuracy to my voice-- my voice was just my natural voice-- and the sound quality on both are just exceptionally amazing! They both had a very clear and very clean sound profile to them!
The main differences were the handling noise being better on the V7 than the D5 and their sound profiles-- the V7 made my voice sound smooth and mellow, whereas the D5 had a bit more presence that brought out and projected my voice more and made it stand out. V7 is a rather chill mic; D5 is a bit more outspoken.
As for price, the D5 nowadays costs a little bit more than the V7, though the D5 used cost as much. Maybe the price will come down some in time.
They were both such good mics that it became rather touch to pick which to go with. I loved the V7 and its clean, clear, smooth, and rather mellow sound profile and would easily recommend it, but if I had to really make a decision, the D5 would be the top choice for me, just because I liked that it brought my voice out more.
Essentially the choice is yours-- if you want to feel like you're a relaxed and warming to be around, go for the V7; if you want to feel like you're heard loud and clear, go for the D5.
I love both mics and are among my favorites, though again, if I really had to choose, my pick would be the D5.
@@RynoIncognito
Really appreciate the help
I was confused especially when Thanos from Dark Corner Studios channel put the D5 in "Meh" tier and V7 in "Decent" tier in he's tier list video.
Anyway they are now at the same price (80$) so I can't go wrong with either of them.
So could you tell me which one is better with rejecting background noise? I'm in a little noisy//untreated room and I'm gonna use the mic for podcast//record.
@@54LD_ No problem! Glad I could help!
As for background noise, I tested with my clicky mechanical keyboard, clapping and rubbing my hands together, and talking from the rear of both microphones.
Based on my rough tests, both microphones did pick up everything up but both were fairly good at handling them, as overall the clacks were not so loud to get too close to the voice or sound too present or overwhelming by themselves, so it's not too bad.
The V7 did handle background noise a tiny bit better as it was a bit quieter due to its softer sound profile, though it did pick up shocks a tiny bit more.
The D5 picked up background noise a tiny bit more, which I believe is due to its sound profile having a little bit more presence than the V7, but it picks up shocks a tiny bit less.
The shocks on both mice were soft, with the D5 being softer, and background noise was fairly good, with the V7 handling it a tiny bit better.
(Edit): Also, if you plan on handholding the microphone, the D5 isn't exactly the best as you hear the metallic sound of the chassis, but is not as bad as some others and is workable; the V7 is the winner there as all you hear is rumbling and is a thereby a bit more tolerable to handhold.
Hopefully that helps you out!
Podcast pro my ass
D2 PRO! Its so pro
$120 for a plastic mic, no thanks! I have 3 Behringer mics but I definitely pass on this one.
Someone is claiming its metal, but if it is...its the worst metal ever
bummer, im usually rooting for behringer for bang for the buck options but yikes this guy just aint good. better off with the xm8000, or their other shure 58/57 clones (if youre bent on getting a behringer mic anyway)
100% - The maonos and fifnes of the world just got better
Shame on Beringer for calling it the Podcast Pro. Pure Garbagio!
Garbagio indeed
The top of this thing is grainy and harsh... it sounds like the infamous Pyle mic that only uses 2 of the 3 XLR pins, for an unbalanced signal. You know, the $17 one? YUCK HARD PASS
Yep, and that mic uses the sm58 knock off replacement capsule that I mentioned
Yikes behringer
Yikes indeed. Ridiculous
Not so gooooooood.
Lot so baaaaaaad
omg almoast 200$ straight in the trash the Behringer 20 dollar mic wins.
So bad. The worst mic I have used in quite some time
@@ObscureMics i was kinda looking forward to this mic what a let down.
@@kamratdennis same....sometimes they make something thats just AWESOME for the money....this aint it
Idk why this mic looks like a toy
Feels like one too
I don't get it. The XM8500 is cheaper than Eddy Gordo in Tekken 3 and has been the reigning $20 champion for years and they produce this sorry excuse for a podcast mic for 6x the price while gimping the build and sound quality. Behringer has always been out of touch to some extent with the failed knockoff products that undercut the real mics with close enough names, but this is unacceptable. I'll take something from Temu over that crap
lol great comment Jose. And spot on. Temu all day
Plastic plastic plastic. You don't make a mic out of plastic unless its a toy. The company is selling synth clones for pennies on the dollar with awesome sound and build quality, and then they do this...
No low end all midrange and highs. You have every right to be angry at it. You spent over $100 for a pile of plastic. Cut your losses and pass it along. Junk.
Total crap
