I’ve watched your videos for awhile now and don’t do much commenting. I love your Shiz Matt, your matter of fact no BS way of delivering info, it’s down to earth, and makes sense. LoL🤘🏻💚🤘🏻
My first clutch surprised me by laying at day 20 post shed. I thought a had a few days to go get the perlite, so I was a tiny bit unprepared. Wasn't a big deal, since the drive to town takes a hour each way, I put some water in the incubator to warm it up. I wanted to have pre-warmed egg boxes, so I kinda achieved that. And they popped right at day 55. What a cool process. Also I have my 4th that I think either ovulated 3-29 or 4-10, she looked huge both days. But I wasn't sure so never fully noted it. but I put the male in with her a few days ago, and for the first time with those 2 they didn't pair( and I checked multiple time). So after that I looked back at when I thought she may have ovulated, but I haven't seen any signs of shed yet, though today she had small soggy poop, and she hasn't eaten in about a month. So not sure if that means she is cleaning her system out🤷♀️
Hey Matt, you said during Ovulation the tail has a swollen spot and that the entire back end does not swell…what if the entire back end of mine IS swollen. Like a lot! It appears to be a massive ovulation to me. I’m trying to figure out how to post a pic 😬
Question for you Matt…… have you ever had a girl that has been breeding start cooling, go off food, and then after a month take a meal but then continue to to build and ovulate?
I was specifically looking for info on this now and you just posted this video. Here is my question I was looking for an answer for. When you see that very noticeable bulge but isn’t a full blown ovulation where they look like they ate a football, do you still pair until full blown ovulation? Or can you stop pairing when you have the very very noticeable bulge/build?
What’s the longest period of time you have waited on eggs to drop after a prelay shed? I just pulled my 1st clutch of the season 2 days ago, 10 eggs, no slugs!! It was day 49. My 2nd clutch will hopefully be soon. Today is day 43 for her.
First clutch of the season dropped right before I started watching this video.
Congrats on your first clutch of the season!! I just pulled My first clutch of the season 2 days ago. 10 eggs!!

Hey guys love the channel. Will a female continue to lock with a mail if she’s not going to go?
Maybe
Thank you for another great video. In regards to reabsorption of eggs. Is there a cause? Or is it something that just happens?
It can just happen. The females body believes time is bad. Stress, lack of food, etc.
Thank you for the reply. Greatly appreciated.

If swollen to the vent may be poop

Yup

Either is fine. Additional pairing likely isn't needed, but won't hurt either

Probably about that lol
Do you continue to pair them once you mark an O after the ovulation or when they are still building?
I stop once they get an o
Thank you
How long after the lock should you start looking ovulation?
Since they can retain sperm for years, lock date to gravid date is not really relevant. It can be days, can be months
Like ..Rude not to very informative.
