How do you cut your tomatoes?
I cut them
By not selecting a mushing broken up one. Of course it's going to cut like crap if you get a crap tomato.
With a tomato knife
The right way!
Mashed not like u
"You've been cutting tomatoes wrong this whole time" Um.. No I haven't. 😂🤦♂️
me either.
If you cut like mashed you probably have been
I have, I'm the idiot this is marketed to.
Then why are yall here? Cap!
90% haven't, it's literally a no brainer
I cut my tomatoes faster than this video goes.
As usual I’d like to thank the comment section for saving me some time! You guys are the greatest! on to the next video 👋🏿 😂
Just remove the stem....and slice from bottom to top when the tomato is on its side. Don't bother with seed or skin removal. Those are the most nutritious parts. Italian plum tomatoes and garden beef steak are the best kinds. A lot of meat and flavor.
I find serrated digs in just fine. I slice my tomato depending on how I intend to use it.
as a chef with 10 years of experience, this is bullshit, never use serrated knives for anything but bread, also you slice (for sandwiches &, etc.) the tomato with the core horizontal, not vertical
That's exactly what I learned. One thing this channel is notorious for is misinformation regarding kitchens, restaurants and cooking
Joe Mangini at home, I have a good set of carbon steel Henkels, but they don’t get professionally sharpened. I grab the serrated utility for tomatoes and even the ripest tomato cuts easily, and as thin as you want.
Jaime Garcia that’s awesome. Maybe time to just display them.
Jaime Garcia happy Easter
Thank you
That just shows me that i and everyone I know did it right our whole lives :^)
Keep on telling yourself that all you want, but no one here is convinced since your smiley emoticon's nose is showing just like how Pinocchio's nose grows each time he lies. If you really can, then prove it.
@@borgoat1220 Can you?
number 1 USE A SHARP KNIFE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is everything and i think the biggest issue people have
Thank you so much! I've always cut tomatoes from the side and they got mushy..
I have perfectly cut Tomatoes now and it's going on my BLT!
Im here in pursuit of perfecting every dimension of a BLT. Its like we're connected in some way....
"Hold the tomato by the core": holds tomato by skin side!
She meant the thumb on the core
I love "yes, tomato sandwich." LOVE tomato sandwiches!
me 2.
The knife should be clean and sharp doing all the work. If you have to apply pressure with your knife while cutting tomatoes, you’re doing it wrong.
Serrated knifes will tear and rip the insides of the soft flesh in a tomato.
I was born without any common sense. Thanks for teaching me how to cut a tomato. Who would of thought that all you needed was a sharp knife 🔪 🤷♂️
Did you even watch the video? lol evidently not, if that's all you think is needed to cut a tomato :P
borgoat12 apparently you were also born without any common sense 🤣
Common sense is a lot less common than people seem to think...
Common sense would also teach you that it’s “would have”, not “would of”.
I thought it couldn’t be done, but here I am, being productive on RUclips.
A few years ago I talked to a chef. (I suck in the kitchen). He told me cutting tomatoes dulls his knife more than anything else he cuts. He would know. I was stunned.
Tomatoes are difficult to cut, it's not quite flesh rubber but it's close.
Though I doubt the chef does a ton of hard fruit/veggies/meats that often.
Well that chef must have shitty knives. I cut multiple tomatoes every day and haven't had to sharpen my tomato knife in almost a year.
I imagine he cuts his tomatoes on a plastic board
I wish she had put the tip about removing the tomato skin at the beginning of this video. By hey, I can't complain. It's HER class room and I should have raised my hand or watched the whole video first! Thank you! I learned a LOT. Especially about the type of night to use. (Knife) had to edit...Thank you! Who want some salad?!😃
Bruh this the same way I been cutting tomatoes. Also I’m really looking this up in the kitchen waiting for the oven to be done with my chicken patties
😂😂
where is Gordan Ramsey when you need him to call somebody a dipsh*t sandwich...im dying watching this video omg lol
Thhhhx this was really helpful ❤️
don't press, use a proper cutting method
It would be nice if the video actually showed someone doing what the narration says to do 😂
How do you cut the end of a tomato??? Like the small bit that's hard to cut because you could cut your fingers off but you don't want to waste the rest for it is too hard to cut.
dont cut vertically through the stem but at the side of it - so you have one halve with stem and one without.
then you just can remove the whole stem - instead of removing two stem pieces from two halves.
Certified Gold!!!!!
🤔I have a video
challenge for you:
Deseeding a strawberry😉👍
Get a plastic grocery bag and put in strawberries and add water til submerge and add in a good handful of salt. Twist the bag a few times then shake the bag gently for a minute of two. Open the bag and drain strawberries over a colander and rinse the strawberries with cold water. There you go, deseeded strawberries!
Vicky Fung I am not allergic to
strawberries just the seeds🙄
Just my luck🙈
nah .. raspberries, or even better ..de-seeding kiwi
0:21 This only happened once in my life. When I was a teenager and I've learned quickly to never cut with a dull knife again... on anything...
where's the body?
Cant believe I watched this
Can't say I'v ever had a problem cutting a tomato. I usually start on the bottom and work my way towards the top
Yes, use serrated knife if you cant keep your knife in normal state - sharp. If you have a knife in normal condition you cut through the tomato easier.
Wow that intro clip made me irrationally angry, thanks.
Also no, I have not been cutting tomatoes wrong this whole time.
I knew it! I was using the wrong knife! I was trying to cut some yesterday but it ended up being
A mooshie mess
I prefer ripe tomatoes.
I never have a problem with the tomato seeds in my salad.
i mean you can just froze the tomato for a bit, so its firmer. then you can cut it even with a regular knive
Ty help alot
Nice touch with the Mrs doubtfire scene lol
All I can say is 🤦🏻♀️
The best knife for cutttting tomatoes is the Ginsu knife
"You've been cutting tomatoes wrong this whole time"
Well you see, I have a good knife. Your statement does not apply to me. An immortal with common sense.
Great channel
I think your first error was using a DULL KNIFE.
I cut it in thin slices and use a paring knife. Fruit ninja aint got nothing on me.
they say laughter is the best medicine, read comments, on you tube YOUR CURED!!!!
Oh my God I completely forgot about this
Thanks
For next week's video, "How to breathe without thinking about it."
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Keep my knives sharp, but everyone in the house doesn’t appreciate it, you don’t cut on ceramic 😂
Tysm
3:04 Jamie Oliver doing some cameo
mom uses straight not sharp knife but still chop it neatly
Truthfully you don’t wanna try and cut a near rotten tomato either if they’re over ripe your not going to be able to do too much with it anyway maybe make sauce out of it if it’s not completely rotten on the inside,,,I’ve had really good success using a couple of old pampered chef paring knifes that I bought used at yard sales years ago two different ones and they sharpen up good and hold an edge real good,,,they’ll go right through a tomato 🍅
I have a knife sharpener and I keep my knives sharp. I can cut a tomato any way you can think of, and they don't mush up on me,
Omg she put a clip from a series of unfortunate events
Does anyone know what that last film/TV clip is from, please? Thank you.
I truly just learned something at 58
YYEEAAAHHHHHH BBOOOIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I come here cause of Louis 😭 😂
PEES SAME
???
I also love Beastars
I cut my tomatoes the wrong way. Yes it can look mushy and bad but I get more tomato for what I cut. For example. You tilt it sideways to cut the top. I eat most of the circular area of the top and leave a small amount of the top part out, like a small square piece of the top. While you guys have large circular sides of the top part going to waste. 1:17
Step one pick firm tomatoes.
Step two make sure your knife is decent for slicing. DO NOT USE A BUTTER OR TABLE KNIFE!
Step three slice and cut as shown in the video.
I didn't know there was any other way to cut a tomato than this...
Don't try to *smash* the fruit with your knife, as in the vid. *Slice* it, drawing the knife back and forth. Serrated blade only needed if all your knives are dull like hatchets.
not me: ….wait how do cut a tomato….LETS SEARCH IT…..yup I know now
Tomato skin is full of carotenoid which is an antioxidant and it's good for you.
Nergal from Behemoth taught me that trick!
Extra Sharp Knife
Yeah Let Me Just Buy The Japanese Knife That Alot Of Chefs Uses Its very sharp
When slicing is successful the knife is pushed forward and back. When showing how not to the knife is pressed straight down. What do you expect?
11 years old used to think I was a genius
I WISH producer would find a new non annoying voice for these videos.
Im pretty sure 90% of home cooks learnt this from their parents or a basic cooking class 💀
Yet you're here watching the video...?
@@blackham7 I thought it would be a brand new way, I see nothing different
Next: How to peel a banana 🍌
because you're doing it wrong.
I peel bananas like monkeys do.
POV: you main Sauda
-Please- tomato kindergarden. You can't digest tomato peel. It comes out just like you ingested it. Folks in the know peel their maters. Grow a variety that fits your needs. We like an heirloom called "prudence purple." A low acid pink that covers all bases.
Im 76. Up until a few years ago tomatoes were a vegetable. Well to me they are vegetables. And Pluto is a planet.
The tomatoes are in the vegetable part the the produce section of the grocery store.
They are still classified as a fruit though.
@@tracyspringer8560 Ha ha.NEVER
have you ever seen tomato in fruit salad?
This comment section is hilarious. Omg
What waterhead isn't cutting a tomato correctly? I can't believe there is a video about this.
Just because you can cut a tomato doesn't mean your way of cutting it is optimal. That's presumably why most people clicked on this video--to check if there's a more optimal way to cut it. But there's no evidence you even know how to cut a tomato properly. You think you know, but you're no Gordon Ramsay or Marco Pierre White. :P
Clean cuts and still cuts a tomato
Is this a joke? This is exactly how I’ve been cutting tomato’s
How does the person that put the video together know how we all have been cutting tomatoes? I usually use a toothbrush to cut them. You mean there is a better way?
There's a much better way to cut tomatoes. Check out Helen Rennie's video on dicing tomatoes, and forward to 2:30. Piece of cake.
Louis Tomlinson may accessed this🤔
Lol how patronising. I'm 55 yr old. Erm,you know,I don't know how to cut a tomato. Shall I use a spoon? Fork? Lol
Why did it take over a minute to get to the point
Nobody shoves the knife down on a tomato like that; that's just stupid stuff. I've been cutting tomatoes for over 60 years and never did it like that. I hope they used that tomato and didn't waste it.
Using a serrated knife of a tomato is a sin!
If you can't use a straight blade, then sharpen it!
Bad - even dangerous knife technique! Definitely risky, holding tomato in one's hand and CUTTING UP TOWARD FACE with what seems to be a dull, but definitely NOT sharp knife. Too much force - knife goes flying UP INTO FACE. Best approach to cut either wedges or slices is to cut DOWN through stem/core, leaving two halves. Remove core by cutting on an angle about 1/3rd down, which keeps the tomato in (two) spheric halves. You can then cut into wedges, or invert a half, and cut down vertically for slices. Knife MUST be serrated, or very, very sharp! There are a lot of very inexpensive sharpeners that do a great job for less than $15. I use one and I can - but don't - shave with them. If you hold one to edge of a single sheet of paper, you can cut it into very thin strips with no force whatsoever. Anyone can do with a little effort and practice.
Remove seeds, no cutting: take one half in palm of your hand, hold over sink or bowl, and gently s-q-u-e-e-z-e. Seeds and membrane will come out, leaving the meat of the tomato. If you want to remove the skin, learn the French (yes, the French, again) technique concasse'.
What is the name of the show in 3:42 ?
And you’ve been using adverbs wrong this whole time
No one likes to be told anything out of malice.
-.- who cant slice a tomato?
"Tomeloz"
I believe in this
Directioners??!!👀
deserving a tomato takes two seconds..
X got in an exclusive. Eli seems .
Why are the titles of these type of videos you do always "you've been doing ------- wrong"? Why not just "how to ---------"?
They know more people will be clickbaited into clicking when the video title is worded that way. They prey on people's insecurity, doubt, and curiosity, and since it seems to be working, they'll inevitably continue to do so.
Since the last time?
you can cut them anyway you want !
why does this lady always talk like she doesn’t understand anything she’s saying?
Bruh that knife in the intro was so dull
