hahah I do this for a living.. I cant imagine someone like MKBHD how many macbooks he has. But we gotta collect them so we can go back over the years and compare them for future videos... so people can really take a good descision at whether or not they should buy or not.

I’ve been considering buying an M1 Pro because I want to integrate more macOS into my workflow as it’s great for programming (I love the Terminal) and even some video editing I do on the side. But I never pulled the trigger. Now, I think I’ll get an M2 Pro. While you can get great deals on the M1 right now, I feel like the M2 is just a machine that will last me longer with HDMI 2.1 and Wi-Fi 6E. It just seems like a great future proofing option that is the same price for me as the M1 Pro would have been if I bought it a week ago.
Believe me, next generation has better port standard and connectivity, and they can last longer than M2 pro. You know what I mean🤔
I really can't argue this... I totally agree. Its a good argument.... :/ However, for those who are looking for a bargain. M1 Pro is amazing and can still deliver the longetivity. BTW dude, iTerrm2... amazing terminal. Been using it for a while now
i’m in the same predicament, i bought an m1pro for 1600 i can return it and get the m2 pro for 1849 plus taxes and other stuff it’s about a $300 difference. i don’t need it but i want to be future proofed so i feel like $300 isn’t so bad but then again is this computer really that much better to justify the price difference

Finally I think that I have done a good thing saving my money last year, this year I wanna buy this MacBook for sure and this is going to be my first ever personal laptop ☺ as I only have a desktop PC since 2013. For me I think it doesn't matter much that the Ssd was slow because I really loved this new MacBook with a very good battery life and thermals even though it is using more power. Just loved it 😘

Nice video! If i choose a macbook pro m2 pro with 32go ram and 1tb ssd for mobile develoment (xcode, android, flutter) , front/back dev (nodejS, angular/react) and some dockers containers/volumes , its is enough ? I dont use all these tools same time but mobile or front/dev with docker or not. First time for me to buy a macbook pro. Ill use only 1 screen monitor connected to my macbook pro.

But I just started using Arc few weeks ago and fell in love with it and Never looked back. It’s different but I feel like their UI/UX is really great, the details and their custom PIP video player 🙌🏻

For a student that is waiting the Apple Educational Program, you think would be a good ideia wait for September to maybe a new Macbook version? Like a new Macbook Air?
Its honestly not a bad idea BUT avoid playing that game because EVERY year there is something new. So if you think you your ROI will be greater by waiting than my using it for the new few months, wait. Else, get it !
How fast things change, Andres. Here we are 4 months after this video, the M2 MAX is in our Canadian refurbished store. Today (June 15, 2023) it is like Christmas day. My new, to me, refurbished laptop is about an hour away (Hamilton Airport) and UPS is on their way soon enough. Working on a Windows laptop, I miss my tools. Can't wait to install my tools. Wi-Fi 6e is becoming more affordable, I got a great used deal on Amazon. Rogers had to come into my home to replace their base router/modem and upgrade me to a modem that supports 1.5Gbps down. I am planning to go to Sonoma right out of the gate on this new laptop; I best get used to the newest tools. I have a question, how do your keycaps fair? My previous MacBook had shiny keys after 3 days of use.
Hey Andres, first time in your channel (now subscribed) and I'll be buying also, my first MacBook, but I need an advice. MacBook Pro M2 14'' (16Gb RAM with 512GB SSD) is a good model? I'm kinda worried about the SSD speeds in relation to the M1 Pro 14'' (16Gb RAM with 512GB SSD) but some people said to not worry because this will only affect a little and for specific tasks that rely more on SSD speed. So, should I choose the first model or the second one?

Hi Andres. As usual this is a very nice and in depth review. Would you recommend the M1 Air for programming. (Mid to heavy tasks)
more towards the mid if you get a niiice spec bro... make sure you get that 512gb of ssd to get two nand chips and also get yourself the 16gb ram. When it comes to heavier tasks, truthfully, I cant comment on it... I just do think imo its worth it compared to a M1 Pro... just because the M1 pro automatically gets the upper hand for me when it comes to rocking dual displays

should i get this laptop if im going into a college for a computer science degree?
I was considering between the new MBA M2 13.6" or the MBP M1 Pro 16" 2021 model (2021 model costs approx. $800-900 less than the new MBP in my country)
So just ordered the Pro 16" 2021 and hope I don't regret it. Working with Web and mobile app dev/programming and will use it when I travel, has a iMac 27" 5k 8GB RAM late 2015 medel at home/work and still works good.
Honestly I believe you shouldn't regret it, the M1 is still a capable machine for years to come, and with the bigger screen will help you fit more in it, since we tend to have the browser open while searching for documentation and the IDE split sometimes in 2 views and with tons of files opened.

no one reviews 3D production work on Maya or even blender. I've seen so many reviews to help my purchase decision but none, none came. Only some blender stock benchmarks or cinebench. 😢

I am looking for an optimal configuration for macbook pro m2 to buy for use in web development. I am not a really programmer, I am just a web developer / web designer. I don't do any video or fancy stuff. I use Adobe products for editing my images and use a lot of open windows of browser & visual studio code. I try to find the balance of configuration, not something I can't do the job but neither a rocket. I have no experience with mac, windows user for my entire life and I really want to switch to mac for better productivity. Would be a mackbook M1 ok insted of M2? for example would be ok for web development Macbook Pro 14" 10-Core CPU, 16-Core GPU, 16GB, 1TB SSD? I can find this configuration on a good price at 2.300$ US in my country. Thank you.

Price is not a factor in this case and lead time for M2 Pro with 32GB unfortunately is way to long, so those two are the only available options..

@@D_Webb Been working for 5 years as a video editor, mostly 1080 projects but every now and then iI get some 4k projects. Not much really but don't want to close that gate
@@mnstrsedits4353 then 16gb is plenty. Trust me. I mostly edit 1080p60 clips and edit gameplays. The M1 Air with 8Gb handles even 4k footage I’ve thrown at it easily.
I'm from India planning to do masters in CS in US. so wanted to get a new laptop but not sure whether im able to do all college assignment and use softwares related to course in MacBook or end up wasting money
I haven't had a Mac since the early 2000's, I've had Windows laptops since then, but I'm going back to school for comp sci (completely switching career paths) and the MacBooks really do look like the best options for me. Even though it'll rule out Linux for the foreseeable future, which ngl kind of sucks.
I'm deciding between the Air M2 with 24 GB RAM or the Pro M2 Pro with 32 GB RAM. I know people say 16 GB should be fine, especially for a bachelor's degree level work, but I had a 4 GB RAM Vista laptop for a few years and yeah, no, I'm never, ever risking not having enough RAM again 😅
The Air honestly looks like a better overall deal, and imo it's low-key scandalous that the Pro has a worse webcam, but I'm just so tempted by that larger display (and my obsession with more RAM = more better) and slightly better chip...
I'll be using the laptop for a minimum of three years, but probably closer to five. I can't decide which will be the better long term purchase. I'm definitely looking forward to you programmer's review, maybe it'll help me finally make a decision!

@@andresvidoza I have a 15” 2016 MBP. Sort of wavering on the 2023. I mean, Pro or Max it’ll be night and day difference. I’ve waited long enough that the incremental increases over the years will be probably 1000% speed improvement….but the cost…has gone up (fellow Canadian here) 😅
