You guys have a big whoops there on the Szechuan Tibet Highway. Tire pressure does not drop as you go up in altitude it increases. When you measure tire pressure you are comparing the pressure inside the tire to the pressure outside the tire. Since as you go up the mountain the pressure inside the tire doesn't change and the pressure outside the tire does drop relative to the pressure inside you essentially increase the tire pressure leaving you with over-inflated tires. Over-inflated tires yes they do cause you to have less control because the contact area is less with the road..... updated edit So in other words adjust your tire pressure as you go up which means letting air out of your tires. Do so only if you have a tire pump or a way of re-inflating your tires as you come down otherwise you end up in a dangerous situation as you come down the hill.
I actually live alongside commonwealth avenue. My family had used that road countless times and hadn't run into any accidents although we do see the occasional car stuck in the middle of the road a number of times. The worst part however is the horrendous traffic cause at one part of the avenue where I live in there's a bottleneck that squeezes the cars so close together that it can take 30 minutes to drive just a hundred meters or less.
I live in Alaska and have been on the Dalton Hwy, better known as the haul road. At no point in time do you have to cross a body of water. I've traveled the entire length more than once so I think I'd know. There is an area where a stream regularly over flows in the winter and makes the road dangerously icy and it is carefully maintained by the state to make it passable.
I saw that too. They REALLY need to do better home work before posting these. This MISINFORMATION seems to happen more and more....People THEN get the impression that what they SEE and WATCH is the entire truth...NOT A GOOD THING AT ALL. I've ONLY been on the Haul Road twice and neither time did I cross ANY WATER anywhere along the road...except for some small run-off but even that was just a trickle and didn't upset my motorcycle in the least. Thanks for bringing this FACT to light for the rest of those watching.
Lol Born in Sitka but raised in Anchorage here… 🫡🤭Ever taken the road up to Alyeska Ski Resort? When I was a kid, I remember riding with my parents in a little Geo up to Alyeska. I was maybe 9yrs old. Let’s just say we didn’t make it up the mountain 😖 I almost pee’d my pants as we started sliding backwards. IDK what my parents were thinking 🧐
I am lucky and was born and raised in Calgary Alberta Canada and have safe easy access to The Rocky mountains. and right next door to British Columbia. The scenery is spectacular
Hi guys, great video of which I can now never complain about the A13 ,A406 (north and south) Also the M25. These are roads and motorways with and around London communiting roads to name a few. Keep up the good work. Regards from a subscriber.
13:00 is incorrect, high altitudes have low atmospheric pressure, the tyre pressure remains consistent, it doesn't decrease when the surrounding pressure decreases unless it gets punctured at the same time.
but honestly those roads in india and Pakistan have SO MUCH potential if they were to be nicely built and maintained .. the amount of tourists they attract would pay for their own upkeep
I'm from Puerto Rico and in the town I lived in we had some treacherous roads, that went up a hillside that had no guardrails. You want to talk about white-knuckling oh my goodness scary times they were
Makes me so thankful for living in a country that takes road quality a little more serious. I would love to be a billionaire and get a tunnel boring machine in some of these countries. They could use it.
Sure they can afford, but look at thise impossible mountains? Would you risk getting those entire mountains coming down like dominoes?and yes look up at Atal tunnel.
I have been on the Karakoram Highway many times and also on the road that goes to Skardu and the infamous road from Skardu to near Askole. The main hazards are landslides and Pakistani drivers who are wild lane changers. Karakoram Highway as late as 2000 had no lane markers or guard rails. Some of the bridges were Bailey bridges. Highest point on the road is the Kunjerab Pass at about 14,500 feet where I saw a very happy dandelion.
the James Bay Road in northern Quebec is also something else. the trip from Matagami to Radisson takes over 6hrs and there is one stop in the middle for gas and food. you have to check in before you enter the road and when you arrive in Radisson (so they know if you don't make it there) its a winding road with nothing but the odd random logging truck barreling the opposite direction so you need to keep an eye on where there is a wide spot to move over to because most of it is single lane. Spring, summer and Fall all take place within a 30 day period, the rest of the time is winter pretty much. the only sign of life we saw on the entire trip (both ways) was a large cougar on the side of the road that looked shocked to see us literally in the middle of nowhere.
Great vid! But, at around 13:15, the high-altitude tire pressure point of complaint was wrong. Tires at higher altitudes do not _lose_ pressure, but gain it, instead. So, rather than worrying about losing control due to mushy tires, the worry should be about tires exploding or loss of traction, instead.
These are the "types" that us truck drivers hate and 'types who end up dead and or killing people on the easily American tax paying paved roads. Thinking lifes a racing video game. One catch. No do overs. 💪🏾💯
At 13:05 tire pressure will be the same compared to the tire pressure at lower altitude. The DIFFERENCE will increase since the atmospheric pressure at 13,000 feet is less that at the start of the uphill journey. Simple physics ...
Some of these roads really need to be closed to all cars/trucks. Most of these would make wonderful hiking trails. It's only because people try to drive on them, that it's scary.
I've seen video footage of an empty tour bus tumbling off of North Yungas Road on RUclips. I wonder if one of the Crosses shown in this video marked the location where the driver died.
"Barely wide enough for 2 cars" Have to been to Ireland?? Most of the roads can't fit two cars, lol lots of the roads in Kerry, Co Cork have bends on cliffs and drops. Also tractors drive with nice spikes on the front. Lol

About the Eyre highway. It traverses the Nullarbor plain. Null arbor. No trees. Now bushfires without trees are quite rare. We get plenty of bushfires in Victoria because we have more rain and plenty of trees. And the largest area burned was in Northern Territory where the vegetation grew in the monsoon season. Then it dried out and burned. So the only thing I would feel safe from on the Eyre highway is bushfire.
This guy is making videos with the same style of the other guy that does not fit his voice he needs to find his own style that people can get attached to

Trollstigen / Troll Road is not really that scary. Yes, it may be a bit slow if you drive behind a bus… there are designated meeting points to allow traffic both ways and the view on the top is spectacular… do NOT avoid if you’re a tourist and is nearby.. I’m born and raised in a nearby town.
A lot of these places makes sense as you are driving up and down a mountain. However, most of these belong to counties that either don't have a lot of money, or don't use it to help their people, and line their pockets with it.
I wonder if these roads wouldn’t be as scary if they were transversed by horses instead of motor vehicles? As it seems that the roads were built during that time when horse power was probable transportation.
the Holy Island (Lindisfarne) causeway is also closed twice a day at high tide there is a small village and the remains of a Monastery, if you get caught out by the tide they will send out a Lifeboat to rescue people but you will have to dry your own car out
