About The Summer I Turned Pretty:
Belly Conklin is about to turn 16, and she’s headed to her favorite place in the world, Cousins Beach, to spend the summer with her family and the Fishers. Belly’s grown up a lot over the past year, and she has a feeling that this summer is going to be different than all the summers before. The Summer I Turned Pretty is based on the book by Jenny Han, who is creator and executive producer.
About The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2:
Belly used to count down the days until she could return to Cousins Beach, but with Conrad and Jeremiah fighting over her heart and the return of Susannah's cancer, she's not sure summer will ever be the same. I have to say they really made up for the last episode with this one. They showed how deeply Conrad and Belly still care for each other. This got completely lost during episode 5, ruining everything that happened before. It shows they could've stayed together, if they would've communicated better.
I also really enjoy the fact that Steven is rooting for them as well. He knows his sister very well and the fact that he wants them to find their way back to each other, despite of what happened so far, speaks volumes. During s1 he went crazy when he found out about Jere and Belly and I think it was also due to the fact that he knew how Belly felt about Conrad.
In my opinion Steven sees him being the better fit for her because of, despite everything that went wrong, Conrad is a serious guy who doesn't give away his heart so easily and will be the more selfless person by the end. Vise versa, he sees Belly bringing out that nice, fun and genuie guy in Conrad and thinks they just fit. I guess Steven is sure that Conrad and Belly are what both are looking for in a partner and especially what his sister is/will be looking for in the end.

This scene is everything to me! Because, I believe one of the most important things in a relationship is being able to communicate healthily and understand each other. Look at them, they have it. No matter what happens, they know how to be clear with each other in terms of expressing their feelings. Also, you can see how their love is powerful and fresh at the same time when you look at their excitement, tension, and longing in their eyes after all of that..❤️🥺👉🏻👈🏻

@@Kt-xq1fk It seems like their biggest problem is communication, but actually it isn't. They're just too young to grasp that all relationships require time to be at their best. Apart from this, side factors also affect their relationship, like Jeremiah's feelings and Susannah's death. When you consider all of these, they are capable of handling the situation well.

Im proud of her, even though she was right to have her feelings hurt, though in the end it was a funereal which she should've put aside her problems with conrad to the side and let it out later, but I get it she's a teenager, and now her first step to growing up is own your mistakes, which eventually conrad learns that too

I didnt read the books, but am i totally wrong for suspecting a panic attack and Susanna being close to dying the reason Conrad was the way he was at prom. It had those feels to me, the way he just needed to get outside. Hes clearly not an expert at expressing himself but then again who is, so I actually dont see the prom scene being so bad, if he indeed was having a pa ic attack, i think it was justified....
He probably wasn't having a panic "attack" in the prom scene, but he definitely was in a panicked and insecured state, fearing his moms death and underestimating himself as a partner for Belly. In fact in the books , Conrad never had panic attacks. I think he broke it off with Belly because he wanted to protect her from himself, he started seeing himself as someone who doesn't deserve to be with Belly. Belly wanted to fight for him, but he just gave up, fearing the loss even before trying.

@@akutyam Yes Belly called it off, but Conrad would have done that either way, you could tell that from how he was acting. But maybe if Belly didn't just walk away like that, they'd just calk it a break and not a massive break up, but I guess even she was tired of getting pushed away by him when all she wanted was to be there for him.

Jere is literally Mr. Lock Yourself In A Hotel Room In Cabo For A Week because “they were broken up” like 🤡 💀 jere wants someone to play with him and he got sick of living in Conrad’s shadow and decided he wants to feel belly’s love. jere is so delusional that he convinced himself he’s “always” been in love with her even tho he said in the voiceover that the shift happened during the summer when belly “turned pretty” … Conrad has ALWAYS had something for belly and has ALWAYS treated her with care. he taught her everything she knows, guided her, was someone she looked up to and admired. jere was always just a friend.

What Belly did at the funeral was indeed shitty, but I get it how overwhelemed she was already with soo many things going on at once. Her actions were not justified, and I honestly love her for acknowledging that, but Conrad's words weren't justified either. Even if he was in a much worse state, not fully recovered from a panic attack, thoughts of his dead mom clouded in his brain, he shouldn't have said all that stuff to Belly. They all were at a breaking point and completely messed up with their emotions, and they just took out the angst at each other; what happened is more of the situation's fault then theirs.
Which season is this? I dont remember this scene being in season 1??
I don't like how Belly's character evolves with each episode. She becomes more toxic and selfish. Idk about you, she shouldn't go after jer just because things didn't work out with Conrad.
True so true I think so too. I want to keep her age and immaturity in mind, the hard time they are all going through and how she still has ti grow. Still doesn't excuse her behaviour and I really hope they make sure to give her more groth during s3. How to treat people better and be careful with others feelings.
In all honesty, TV show Belly is WAY better than book Belly. In the books, she constantly complained and expected things to go her way. In the show, she's ambitious, self-aware and actually has a PERSONALITY.

I guess that is because you' ve never faced being the only one to know your mother is dying and not being able to tell anyone, not even her, while you see her sickness getting worse every day. I think all you people who have read the book, you’re really annoying 😂 BECAUSE you are thinking ahead and thinking of things you know were said or thought in the book. But this isn’t the book. You can’t say oh Conrad loves her soooo much (bc you know what happened in the book / how it ends). You have to take this show at face value. What we see in THIS show. Nothing in this show indicates Conrad loves her more than Jeremiah or that Conrad is even a good fit for her. Maybe IN THIS SHOW - we will see something later that makes his actions ok, but what we have gotten so far doesn’t show much. Don’t make this show something it’s not just bc you know the books. It’s like you’re not actually watching this show for what it is.

For me it was the small moments like him showing her how to make the bed and the flashbacks of him teaching her about infinity & how to dance, etc. It just made it clear he’s always taken an interest in her & wanted to spend time with her.
Plus lines like “you have no idea the effect you have on people.” Or “Your cold hearted…for everyone but you.” Show he’s deeply effected by her.
I actually didn’t read the book until after season 2 started and I watch the first 3 eps bc I was upset about the breakup & the funeral and wanted to find out if & how belly & Conrad would get back together.
I know nothing about the books but in the show I just love the way Conrad loves her. ❤ I love the way the understand each other.
