    I am not a novice in Excel, but I still learn new things with your courses. Thanks. I like this label creator. Normally I use Word mailmerge with an Excel datasheet. This has the advantage, that every entry can have its own format (font, font size, colouring, bold, italics) etc. In the first episode it doesn't seem to work. And not all the font colors are transmitted to the labels; I don't know why. Furthermore, I would like to see an automatic font size decrease when a text box is longer than the label width so it still fits on the label. This is always a problem with any label creator. Wrapping is often causing a problem that the bottom textboxes are (re)moved from the label. These are just some ideas, you, me and others have to struggle with. Nevertheless, thank you for this presentation.

      Hello Bert, Thanks very much for your comment. When applying formulas to a shape, the shape takes on the cell formatting, basically losing the formatting that was applied. (Labels works however the data does not) In Part 2 we solve this issue so that all formatting gets copied over again.
      I will work with the wrap text issue and see if we can solve more of these issues. Thanks very much for your feedback.

    This looks amazing, I have been struggling with a very clunky Word mailmerge and vba to create labels, from an excel db.
    Some things I would like to see that I have on my word doc:
    A date textbox on the label choosing either Today() or a date from a cell
    A Serial Number textbox so each label has an incremental serial default fro 001 or from number entered in a cell
    A way to save the label design, my first idea is to group and hide the created label and give option to use when creating new label

    • @ExcelForFreelancers
      @ExcelForFreelancers  4 года назад

      H Lanser, thanks very much for your comment and ideas.
      1. I think the best way to add a date textbox would be simply to add it to your original data, this way you can also include formulas such as Today() or any other date-based formula.
      2. Just as with the date, Excel can handle incremental serial #'s inside the data but also outside. Within the macro there is a variable called "LabelNumber" this keeps track of the label numbers and could easily be place on the label itself with just an extra line of code.
      3. A way to save the design is a great idea and one I had thought of. If enough people want this, I may add it in week 3, however so often as i do more parts to these application the interest and viewers drop, so hopefully more people want this as I think it would be fantastic to choose from multiple label templates that have been previously created, and would save a lot of time having to re-design the same label again.
      Thanks so much for the great comments and ideas.

    A nice little tool you are developing here, one thing I was wondering when you imported the data and then generated the labels it made a single label for each set of information. is it possible to add a feature to print multiple of the same label ranging from one or two up to a full sheet of labels with the same information on each label? Thanks a bunch and keep making the great vids.

    • @ExcelForFreelancers
      @ExcelForFreelancers  4 года назад

      Hi Joshua, thanks for your comment and I am glad you like the training. For sure that is possible, it would only require small modifications of the code, or a database with the exact same details on each row. Make sure you watch Part 2 next week where I go into details on how to create the labels and label sheet, along with adding bar codes and pictures.

    This is an awesome training. I think it would also be useful for people who wanted to purchase card stock and create business cards. Can an option be added to create business cards and allow you to design a two sided card? Since you want to add the option for adding pictures is it possible to layer the pictures with one being like a watermark in the background so your business card could have a design?

    • @ExcelForFreelancers
      @ExcelForFreelancers  4 года назад +1

      Hi great ideas and I am glad you like the training. With the label database sheet you can add any label size or type that you want, to the possibilities are limitless.
      Also in part 2 I show you how to add 2 different types of pictures. One is a picture, such as a watermark, that would show up on every label, and the other is a product picture, which would be different for every label, based on a file link to that picture in your database.
      For two sided designs you would simply create two different designs, one for the back and one for the front.
      Someone suggested to me that a user should be able to save a label design as a template so it can be recalled again, so if there is enough interest I may do this for part 3. Just let me know.

    • @big1975E
      @big1975E 4 года назад

      Saving designed cards as templates would be great! Business that use it to make personnel badges could save each employee’s as a template so that badges could be easily replaced when lost or damaged. It might also be useful to incorporate barcodes or QR code’s.

      Thanks so much, bar codes, product pictures and misc. pictures are coming next week in Part 2 here: ruclips.net/video/NQ1OY97Ho3c/видео.html

    Would it be possible to extract the label template dimension from mail merge to to populate your template table in excel?

    • @ExcelForFreelancers
      @ExcelForFreelancers  4 года назад

      It may be, however I did not find a single source for all of the dimensions, so i just pulled them directly from the Avery site. So any label you want to add, simply add those details to your Label Data table and it will be there forever (as opposed to writing some code to pull the data from word)

    Hi Randy, I'm one of your countless fans. Randy can you please make a video on how to make greyed out Text in the TextBox in UserForm in Excel to give the end user a valid information? But as soon soon as End User starts typing something on that TextBox, your greyed out Text will be hidden or deleted. But if he or she deletes the Text he wrote on that TextBox, your Greyed out Text will appear again in that text box. This is similar like we see in the web form. Can it be done in Excel?

    • @ExcelForFreelancers

      Hi the answers are Yes and Yes. It can be done and I have done it. You can find that training here in the Automated Field Names video:
      ruclips.net/video/CScEzzEhwVs/видео.html
      Also if you combine this with my Automated Tab order videos you have a very powerful and user-friendly form input. I hope this helps and thanks for the great question.
