    Do you need the absolute burliest hub available for your NA or NB? Have a dedicated track car with giant sticky tires, and you're treating lesser hubs like consumables? Here's your answer. The product of two years of R&D (with lots of learned lessons) and legal for Spec Miata (with both NASA and SCCA, the only non-stock hub that is), these hubs use a burly 4150 chromoly body with carefully designed geometry to get rid of stress risers to make the hub as strong as possible (no more runaway wheels). They then add true NSK roller bearings (no fraudulent and short-lived knock-offs), but these aren't trailer bearings - no adjustment or constant fiddling is required. They have very carefully calculated and machined spacers, so you simply torque them. The spacers take into account the proper preload as well as thermal expansion to ensure that everything is just right. They're then carefully sealed so the bearings stay nice and clean. Finally, they have long bull-nose ARP studs and a new axle nut.

    You folks really need to update this for V2.0, like, yes make the seal flush and the o-ring behind the shield, (with no sealant). Thank you for posting videos.

      @@FlyinMiataVideo Thanks for answering. While your here, I am installing this hub and after I torque and fix the nut, the hub is very hard to spin. Is this common on these? do they need a break-in?

    • @FlyinMiataVideo
      @FlyinMiataVideo  8 месяцев назад +1

      @@brians5088 "hard to spin" is subjective but as long as you've installed all the spacers in the correct order, I'd expect there to be some rotational resistance on first install.

    'Nice piece of kit" as the Brits say, big improvement over what the factory first gave us. What is the weight difference from OEM if you don't mind me asking ?

    How do you know the hubs need replacing?

      You will know from the noise.
      Or by jacking the car up and lifting the wheel up and down to see for movement.

    How do these compare to the MiataHubs brand hubs that you used to sell?

    • @FlyinMiataVideo
      @FlyinMiataVideo  2 года назад

      The Miatahubs are a great product, but are very pricing and aren't legal in a lot of sanctioned racing. These hubs are much beefier and longer lasting than the stock hubs and do not need constant adjustment like other aftermarket hubs. Plus these are spec legal for both NASA and SCCA racing.

      MiataHubs also do not require adjustment and are a beefier alternative to stock hubs

    This is what Wilwood put out last year. We tried to run them for endurance racing last year. THEY WALK OFF. LOOSEN. Luckily we realized on the track day, the day before the endurance race. Brake peddle went further and further. 😳. Wilwood issued a recall. Don’t trust your endurance race with them. Been using MiataHubs for 2years without issue, but the price 😩 , also trying Bro-Fabs BMW bearings this next season

    • @Sabre002

      This is not the Willwood product. Mazda tested in endurance applications and did not have that issue.

    An overly complicated unnecessary "performance" part marketed to persons with more money than actual mechanical acumen. Will there be any appreciable (even measurable) benefit gained? Doubtful. Gimmick.

    • @FlyinMiataVideo
      @FlyinMiataVideo  Год назад +3

      Probably completely unnecessary for a street car. BUT ... Hubs are a known consumable for track cars. These are a Mazda Motorsports part, so it's very doubtful Mazda would put the time, effort and $$$ into developing such a complicated product if there was no need.
