I love love love these types of videos. There's no physical media sale that brings the community together like the Barnes Criterion sale.

This store was loaded with a big selection and plenty of copies of the big releases. Barnes and Noble was crazy busy during Memorial Day, so I’m not surprised it was busy today. Good hunting, my friend! 😊
Pat Garrett 4K .. is top contender for release of the yr.

Repulsion is excellent as is Cul De Sac also Polanski on Criterion, there is a good selection in the store.
Knife in the Water was a great release but they have yet to upgrade it to bluray.
I went to that B&N last Friday. I got Trainspotting, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and Bound all on 4K. The first two I was upgrading from DVD. The Kino Lorber sale was still going on, so I also bought Cry-Baby on 4K.
I hate the packaging for the Trainspotting 4K, but I like how the disc sleeves say “Choose 4K UHD” and “Choose Blu-ray”.
Edit: I swear I remember seeing To Die For on 4K at Best Buy when they still sold movies, so it had to have come out late last year. Speaking of To Die For, it was the first movie where Joaquin Phoenix was credited as Joaquin. He had been in tons of stuff before that, credited as Leaf Phoenix.
Taking it easy on Criterion. Only picked up Bound 4K and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas 4K. I’ll probably make one more trip for Risky Business
In the past I tried to find movies and sound tracks to films I don't do that no more. The one that are worth. Buying
Bound is an amazing movie! Edge of your seat ride for sure~!
After I watched this, I went back to the B&N website and ordered Punch Drunk Love on blu and Videodrome on 4k. That's 4 titles so far, I think I'm good till November.
I'm so jealous of others' B&Ns. They all seem to be so well-stocked. My B&N used to have a big glorious wall dedicated to Criterion. Like everything else over the years it's been pared way back. Now it's just one section of a shelf. Sad days.
sales time is the only time to buy there.... their sale prices are everyone else's regular prices

IMHO…To Die For is still to this day Nicole Kidman’s best performance by far. Gangbusters!! Enjoy ;)
Great pickup with Pat Garrett. I found that around the 2nd or 3rd time watching you really start to understand the context of the Bob Dylan lyrics as they apply to the scenes, and that just elevates the experience. My dvd has lots of commentary/extra music features, but it's fun to learn about the extra cuts, I might have to track it down!!
That's a well stocked Barnes and Noble. Mine had maybe two copies of each newer title and one of everything else when I went on the first day of the sale. I picked up the 4k's of Blue Velvet, Days of Heaven, Bound, Blood Simple, and the blu-ray of Lynch/Oz. I'll probably go back again later in the month but these were my must buys for the sale.

Ken, last time I checked, the Westport B&N stopped carrying movies a year or two ago. Unless they started up again. Also, make sure you check your discs. I have never had an issue before but one of the titles I got this time was defective.

"Wild Bunch" would be an incredible 4k, I also wish for "Outlaw Josey Wales" 4k.

To die for is a good movie and it might be jauqoin phoenix's first movie
My local B&N is never that well stocked. I ended up online. My only physical in-store purchase was American Graffiti 4k because UNI is also half off.

Loved Bound and will be looking for that one and To Die For before the sale is over. I love Criterion and look for those when I shop. The Game Exchange I occasionally shop at has a section just for the used Criterion movies.

It looks like both of mine have sold lots of movies (especially the 4Ks), which is exciting to see. I went at noon on day 1 and bought $160 worth and then went back yesterday for 2 more movies.
I want to pick up Mishima, A Matter of Life and Death, the Breakfast Club and the Cure but they were done with 4K scans and could release on that format so I'm hesitant.
I did a sale order via Amazon of the jacques Tati set, the rohmer 6 moral tales set, millers crossing, blue is the warmest colour, the graduate fantastic planet and 4 months 3 weeks and 2 days would;d much rather have gone to a barnes and noble in person, I’m very scared as to the condition they’ll arrive in but I’m uk based so can’t order on barnes and noble
A half price books in my area closed down and they had a 50% off sale today and I was not going to buy anymore until black Friday sale but I had no choice to check out what they had. And after waiting a hour to get into store ( long lines) and two hours in store ( even longer lines) I got zombieland double tap 4k and the entire 8 harry potter Blu ray collection for $16 bucks after taxes. A absolute steal
I'm waiting until I see what the Prime Day deals are before buying anything. If They're just the same old movies for $9.99 and the same box sets like the James Bond Blu-ray set again then I'll hit up B&N

I get wanting to support Barnes and Noble, but mine doesn't want any support. They only have a few Criterion titles and they keep them behind the counter, you can't even look at them. They do the same with the Arrow titles, so the only way I can get anything is to pay and pick up if they even have the items.
I just added One false move 4K and Bound 4K I go for movies in the 80s and 90s time frame thats my bag
I have. Young guns movies. Based on Billy the kid. I would like to see Pat Garrett and Billy the kid I'm not sure if you seen. The tv show or billy the kid I saw some of it soon they are having 2. Or 3 season of the series. It might be out now. New version of of the show

What the hell I went to my BN and it has probably 20 titles and that's it. Only one tiny area with like 4 shelves.
I am in the same city as Ken and we are lucky in that our city is one of the 12, I think, that was selected to be basically warehouses for the collection. Not every one is on the shelves, but I think they can easily get anything. And it is basically stocked like that year round.
Try a different one. Where I live the closest one is that way but there's another one about 10 miles south that has multiple isles of movies

I was going to take advantage of this sale because I had 60 bucks to spare, however, I decided to go to the Kino sale instead because I was able to get seven movies instead of only three

Was that Trainspotting in the normal case a 4K or just a Blu Ray? If they put the 4K in a normal case I would buy it again so I can get rid of that awful cardboard case they gave it.

I'm pissed we don't get Criterion sales in the UK, sucks. I just got Blue Velvet 4K imported for £39! Plus it got damaged, what a mug. 😅

@@letstalkcriterion Hey, yes it was from WowHD. I don't recall if there was a cardboard insert but the parcel took a hit, got dented and creased. I bought Cry Baby the same week which also got a little squashed. It's the gamble we take buying from abroad I guess.

Last time i went to a Barnes and Noble back in February, it was a complete waste of my time! And I drove over 100 miles to get there! Never again!

@@thedarknate0845 I live in kinda a rual area, and I've learned to just stick with ordering online, expect for checking out my local Wal-Mart here and there, but they hardly ever have anything new either.
Agree lack of physical movies and extremely overpriced. These 50% off sales is misleading because they just drop them to really to normal prices
Order your "must haves" online but for pickup, then leave your maybes for whatever you're feeling when you get there. Head somewhere else in the area that you're interested in to make fuller use of the time.
The Invitation needs a physical release so bad.

Do they sell any physical media without a sale? $50-60 for a blu ray is insane. Not interested in many of those movies anyhow.
Yeah Criterion is usually really expensive. The only time it is worth buying is during their sales usually twice a year in July and November.
Which is why most people that buy criterion just wait for the sale. $25 might not be a smokin deal but it's reasonable if it's a movie you really want.
4 releases is not even close to a full bag. I picked up to die for and 3 wes anderson films
