I don't know what it is, but James Spader is hella sexy and hella scary all at the same time. I found him in Boston Legal and now I'm obsessed with him.
LOL Nothing wrong with being a bit obsessed hun. Likewise, I enjoy James's artistry very much, especially how he invests so much energy in researching as well as ultimately crafting the character he portrays to the extent that perhaps there are more dimensions than intended initially that translate on-screen. He is "The Master" in every sense, and I am quick to recommend his work to anyone, in particular "Boston Legal" and the final season of "The Practice" which I revisit as often as possible.
His career has been quite incredible, but what I find the most attractive about him is his humility in the face of all that he's accomplished. He's not at all focused on the accolades or scrutiny that one typically associates with the industry. He's thoughtful and considerate as it pertains to the work, and more importantly his priorities are as they should be. Family first! The rest is secondary.

I've been drawing for the most part recently and enjoyed that avenue of the creative process very much. The practice has actually inspired other choices apart from "The Blacklist" and Spader-related projects which for me is exciting.

LOL Nothing wrong with crushes and/or obsessions. I've been a fan of James's work for practically my entire life and seen every project apart from "Starcrossed" and "The Family Tree". He's endlessly talented, but what I find the most attractive about him is his intelligence as well as his humility, that it's the work itself he prioritizes above the accolades or other qualities associated with the industry. His priorities are in the right order, and it's impossible to not respect him. He's very thoughtful and considerate.
OMG "Stargate" was a fun film. Think I'll have to revisit it again soon. At the moment, I'm working on a pair of new videos. So excited!

Great actor who, while being pretty much "stuck" in one type of role, absolutely excels with how he combines his way of talking, his gesturing and his expressions.
Which is why they chose him to play an emotionless CGI-robot....I don't even....
He can display a lot of emotion and meaning in his voice and that is what happened with Ultron, who was menacing on its own.
Great. Now I have to go back in time and have my own James Spader movie marathon.

Wonderful montage from the James Spader filmography...bravo! The snippets flew by so quickly I gave up trying to name the film from whence they came; instead I decided to try and figure out which movies weren't in the video. The films I don't think I saw were: Shorts, Lincoln, Curtain Call, Stargate, Slow Burn, 2 Days in the Valley, Music of Chance, Less Than Zero, Baby Boom, Wall Street, or Endless Love. Not sure about his TV movies. I'll need to watch it again to see if I missed a clip from the above mentioned films. Thank you for preparing this video, and thank you for sharing.

I incorporated "Lincoln" in a previous compilation, and given the context of the song nothing from the film really quite fit. The same applies for "Less Than Zero" to the extent that I used footage already.

Very fun video! James Spader is a great actor; really committed, passionate and talented. He owns every role he plays, and he has been in plenty of great movies and TV shows. I really liked him in "The Secretary" and "Boston Legal", and I he's great in "Blacklist" too. "Strangeness and Charm" was a perfect title for the video LOL. I especially liked the part from 2:20 to 2:42, heh. And the background song was on point! Keep up an excellent work. I really enjoy watching your videos.
Thank you so much! I thought of James immediately when first listening to "Strangeness & Charm". Again, it's one of those things that would be difficult to expound on. But if I were to try, I'd offer how his body of work albeit films and/or television series is versatile and unique at the same time - and in equal measure. He's played so many great characters over the years, and I'm excited to create more videos similar in structure to this one.

Are you a professional editor? You seem to be. This must have been a tremendous editing... total respect... and the music choice is great. I especially like the second refrain, when the word "gender" appears and then we see him in a footage from White Palace, getting dressed. I think Spader has this elegance in between masculine and feminine. He is a somehow crossed gendered. So inspiring. He is a role model of elegance and grace....

Gaia Di Lorenzo LOL There's nothing to apologize for. I agree about abandoning the show. Ultimately, it boils down to another discussion of "organic" and how the term applies to the characters. Red and Lizzie enable each other to grow. He doesn't hold her back. Instead, he encourages her to find her own path, to stand on her own, while simultaneously reminding her that should the circumstance prove too difficult he will be there for her anytime and will do absolutely anything. As for what Lizzie provides him, Red through their interaction rediscovers the man he was prior to Christmas Eve 1990. That type of relationship fits organic, not that god awful and disgusting Keen2 which does nothing to either advance the character of Lizzie or encourage the audience to participate/invest in her journey.

Hello Monique how you been? Excited and can't wait to see Red's return this thursday's season 4?!! Hope to see more of your uploads here. Got lots of unanswered questions. I do hope the show goes on and on, I wouldnt know how my life would be when the Blacklist ends! Btw how many seasons did you say it might for atleast...4? or Is this going to be their last?? I was also getting weird thoughts that Red / Katarina are the same person ?? I hope not, there would be alot of shippers out there dat would be devasted to know it was all a disquise?? Say it is not so Monique!!
My apologies for responding so late hun. Hope you've been well. :) The season premiere was quite amazing. Yes, there are a couple cringe worthy portions, but overall the ep was solid.
Moving forward, there are questions that need to be addressed further, but that's something I think is expected or it should be given the show and what the nature of it is. Intrigue and a sense of mystery, the need to form an opinion and reevaluate that as new details come to light, are essential - as James correctly points out. He's done so much press for the season already. Before, he cited 7 seasons/years as the life span, and I think that's a good number to tell the story. But the ratings and overall reception from critics declined so much over the past year and a half. I'm confident that we'll see a 5th year. The question then is whether it will be abbreviated or satisfy the standard 22 ep requisite. We'll just have to keep our fingers crossed as I want the show on the air as long as possible.
That Red and Katarina are the same person is.... odd (LOL). And that's long debunked.
Jade Montana A combination of things contribute to the ratings decline. Moving the show from Mondays to Thursdays hurt, but that's nowhere near as damaging as the multiple retcons designed to accommodate a secondary character, compromising both continuity and the integrity of each lead in the process. By secondary character, I refer to TK.
Ryan is fantastic, and you will never hear or read otherwise from me. He has quite the future ahead of him, and I will continue to support each of his endeavors. But in the interim, Lizzie has suffered the most as a result of trying to redeem TK who has done nothing to warrant that type of treatment. She has been reduced to a plot device, and that's unfortunate to put it nicely. I won't apologize for not romanticizing or being swayed by a character who perceives morality as a waste, holds the woman he's purported to love at gun point and use her as a human shield, and worst choose himself time and time again.
As for James, he invests so much into the character of Red, structuring him, and is always mindful of the surrounding details. That a person of his caliber is relegated to the side is equally appalling - to be frank, it's disgusting.

I thought the star of Blacklist is James Spader and he has contributed alot to the episodes/scripts ? so why does it seem to be about Keen? is she the star? I see more of her than Red. I hope to see more of Red episodes to come instead of just 3 min. here 2 min there.
Jade Montana Yes, James is the star of the show and has made contributions toward every aspect. Having said that, however, we as the audience are supposed to experience and interpret the events through Elizabeth Keen's lens - this stems from both Jo(h)ns. For me, the show ends and begins with Red. Period.
Moving forward, I also hope that we see more of Red and explore varying qualities of his character that perhaps we have yet to see. He's by far the most intriguing individual and equally important is the group of people he surrounds himself with. Second to Red as far as the character I'm most interested in seeing more of is Dembe. Hisham is fantastic and similar to James truly understands both the character he portrays and the larger elements involved.

The song has a very, very fast tempo, and I try to organize footage that will accommodate/complement the pace as well as possible. It was a challenge to create that, especially with the opening, but as always I had a lot of fun. With the new season up and running, be on the lookout for new videos. :)
The movie in which James's hair is really dark is "Keys To Tulsa". At the center of the film is an extortion plot. Eric Stoltz co-starred in the film with him, and together they're always a blast to see.

Jade Montana James is a very private person as far as life apart from working, and I respect that very much. I'm sure there are pictures out there, but that territory's just not for me. He is one of a kind.
