      With the Taylor Gs mini or the Martin 000jr10 you better have a pickup or a mic in front of it or an Amp because just straight acoustic they sound...small, thin.

      04-02-2022 ALL IN MY OWN EAR TASTE - The Yamaha was a great sound in this video. Had the sound I like I guess. Balanced yet clear, bright and still some warmth. I thought it was really big contrast of sound with the very nice Martin that followed. The sterile kind off boring Academy A12 sound lost it for me. Just kind of stuck in blah in this showing. Clean, clear, perhaps, but kind of boring sound. The Ibanez was to me weak sound, muffled, kind of like the back of the throat sound. The GS Mini, okay, nothing new.

    I went shopping for a small, good quality guitar for my daughter the other day. The little Martin and the GS mini were nice but had compromises on the sound. We ended up with an all solid Yamaha CSF3M in sunburst. Best bang for the buck in my humble opinion.

    Thank you for this video! For me it”s almost a tossup with the Martin, the Yamaha and the GS Mini Taylor! I have a Martin SWDGT and I absolutely love it for looks, sound and concept. That said, for my next easy practice guitar, I’m leaning GS Mini. In this comparison, I do think the GS Mini punched way above its class and I already own a Martin. A little Taylor would make a welcome addition! Such a tough choice though! I’d have one of each but the lady in the house would impede my goals!

    My own feelings on each guitar's sounds from best to worst, take them with a grain of salt as I am a nobody lol:
    #1: Fender CD-60. I loved how warm and balanced it sounded, it didn't ring too bright but also didn't neglect any bass response, which is shocking since I don't hold Fender acoustics in very high regard. This is the one I would pick as a singer/songwriter personally.
    #2: Yamaha FSX800. Another surprise for me as I don't typically like Yamaha guitars, this one also sounded very well balanced, but with a bit more focus on the high end than the Fender, the voice on this one impressed me considering how thin it is and I think it'd be a great all around gigging instrument.
    #3: Martin Junior. It SHOCKED me how big of a voice that little guitar has, and it truly does sound like a Martin to my ears. With big boomy bass (for the size) and well-balanced mids with decent highs, this would be a great guitar for old-school country and rockabilly.
    #4: Both Taylors. These both tie here for me at fourth place, they sounded fairly sterile to my ear and that's not necessarily a bad thing, if you like the Taylor signature sound, both of these certainly give it to you at a low price and I feel these would be good guitars for beginners but I don't find either to be particularly sonically interesting.
    #5: Ibanez AEWC32FM. This is easily the worst sounding guitar of the bunch for me acoustically (they didn't demo its electronics but knowing Ibanez, I'm positive it sounds good plugged in), it's muffled and flat sounded, very muted. It's almost like listening to an acoustic guitar with your head under water, however having played similar models before, I know that they do make excellent acoustic lead guitars for anyone looking to get into acoustic lead, just be sure to plug them in or you won't hear them over the rhythm section.

    • @pizzanfm
      @pizzanfm Год назад

      At the same price range, can you recommend me any acoustic other than those in the video?

    • @brianmccullar141
      @brianmccullar141 Год назад

      @@pizzanfm At under $600? Sure thing!
      The AMI JM-AGE is a fantastic budget guitar that competes favorably with what's shown here, it has a solid Sitka spruce top and laminate mahogany back & sides. It's a slope shoulder dreadnought taking inspiration from the Gibson J-45 and while it has a distinctly different tone than the J-45, it's still a great all-around workhorse acoustic that's solid for picking or strumming.
      If you're okay with going used, the Boulder Creek Solitaire or ECGC will outperform everything shown here and even guitars in the $800-$1000 range. The sound is very unique but incredible with a great high-end shimmer that doesn't sacrifice your lows (unlike many Taylors). I also find their electronics to be leagues better than any of the Fishman, B-Band, or Barcus Berry systems.
      The Washburn HF11SCE is also a great choice, it offers a solid red cedar top which gives an amazing sound for fingerstyle.
      And if you're partial to playing lead on an acoustic, any of the Ovation acoustics are fantastic for that, and the Applauses are pretty good for their price points too!

    so it has been a while since you did this video you i find myself (who has never played a note) moving to AK and wanting to pursue a life long interest. i say i have never played a note and i stand by that but i have tried several times with several instruments and i just dont have the gift like my brother. still i want to take an acoustic guitar with me. if nothing else it can hang on the wall aside my vaga banjo. i love the sound of the martins and think the djr10 just may be a good candidate

      Action is easily adjusted, and people have a personal preferance how they like the action. Irrelevent to the purchase really, unless is a shitty, cheap thing that is unplayable!

    Ibanez and Yamaha both make a good product for the price. Do a good setup with bone nut and saddle you got a nice instrument
