I wish there were more vids like this - well done for breaking out of the brand new bikes rut. I personally always look for bikes at about 5 years old - you can get so much more for your money and avoid the surprisingly common problems that new bikes can have.
The 270 twin Bonne and Yamaha which is a conversion which requires splitting the crank, rotating one cylinder forward 90 degrees and putting a pin in and press it back together with 10,000 PSI. I did an XS 650 with a set of 700 jugs and split the crank and set it up with the stock pin for 277/83 timing.
I think a lot of people want to see more reviews and vids on S/H bikes. Well done you and Super Bike Shop for letting you ride their stock. Hope to see a lot more of this stuff. TMF, also, has started putting out Super Bike Shop videos. Yesterday, I bought A Kawasaki W650 for well under 5K ( in fact well under 4K ) which is in immaculate condition. A 'labour of love' as my brother in law put it. So, they are out there, people. I would have gone for the Bonnie out of these three.
Our SE Bonneville (USA) from that period came with 2 tone paint job, dual gauges (Speedo + Tach), polished engine covers and other bits and bobs I'm forgetting now.
An extra £1000 would be a complete game-changer in bike selection. Of the ones you looked at, the Honda CB1300 would be my choice, with its massive, understressed engine.
CB1300 is a gem.. its a shame that the new ones are not available outside of Japan. Ive had a privilege to own a `17 CB100Rs and loved it, the 1300 must be an awesome muscle too.
I had a 2008 CB1300s for 4 years and 18000 miles it was a fantastic machine, beautifully finished, masses of tourque, still miss it but it got a bit too heavy for me to push around in the garage, only other bike I've had with similar oomph in any gear was a Suzuki Gsxs1000fa
It would have to be triumph bonneville for me because I did Route 66 and the Pacific highway up to San Francisco on one of those bikes. It was a brilliant bike and never missed a beat on the whole trip.
The Bullet is growing on me big time as of late. I would choose it between these three as a second bike, but the Bonnie is surely a better all around bike.
Great vid. Would take the triumph as love the looks and loads of after market parts. Nice to see a different themed vid rather than just new bikes. Really enjoyed it👍
I would go with the Bullet for a laid back sunday cruiser I have a 1050 Speed Triple so the Bullet would be my chill out bike :) thank you Motobob for the review of these bikes it was good to see the comparisons of these three bikes
I browsed their site a bit. That Triumph is a gem. But I would likely go for one of the shaft driven, v-twin Hondas that are well within budget. A round headlight Honda CB300R or CB125R is also a fun modern-retro standard. But such a pity they don't have any Suzuki TU250s in stock. Absolute gem of an affordable, air-cooled, UJM single.
The £99 admin fee is disingenuous. It costs nothing to do the admin to change the ownership details. Until such time as retailers advertise the full purchase price I will continue to boycott them and I urge others to do likewise.👎
I have done some more digging reference the admin fee and this is what I found: “The only situation in which the supplier can request the additional money is if the correct price had been discussed with the customer before the purchase. If a customer is charged more for a product than what was advertised, they are entitled to ask to be refunded the price difference”. So it’s a grey area but I am taking legal advice to see if this is an illegal practice. Will report back when I have a legal precedent which I’m sure there must be.
I recently bought a 2009 speed triple from a dealer for £4500, 5600 miles on it and one owner from new, there are lots of bikes out there for not a lot of money.
I went for a classic 500 chrome love it and it will do 80 so motorways are ok swap the torpedo exhaust for a lightweight bottle exhaust and it sounds mega
Love the reviews and love the Bonnie! Waiting on delivery of the '22 cb500x. Loved your review of that bike as well! Please, keep the reviews coming MotoBob!
Well done! So it doesn't matter what it looks like and performs?..it's a Harley! Surely mr Bob! Anyroad, out of these three...only the Bonnie! With that bulletproof engine. I had a Speedmaster with the 865cc engine and during my 96000km I did nothing. Not even adjusted the valves. Checked them, but no adjustment needed. The new owner bought it in -15 and still rides it. Good idea with this "used-bike-check". Do some more! Thank you mr Bob!
0:37 Getting in some Ferrari F1 action there! 🙌🏾 That Bonneville SE is the only choice, IMO! That one looks great, and I love the bar-end mirrors as well as the mini fairing.
Sold my SV1000S to Super Bike Factory and bought my BMW F800GT from them, both transactions were pain free and I was very happy and they have shed loads of bargains to boot.
Grab a street rod 750 they can be found in that price range and provide more power and better suspension and handling over the street 750 I love mine it's a fun daily rider
Once again I am reminded that motorcycling is so personal, as to choose any of these three bikes would be my worst nightmare!. But, if I had to think which one would be the best for me then it would be the Bonnie.
Nice idea Bob. Thank you. Maybe some Superbikes of say the 90’s, when they were in my humble opinion at the top of the game would be great to see and even better for younger riders to hear that they (from racing lap times perspectives), not as far away from the modern litre bikes of today. 👍😎🇦🇺
Being a rookie in moto world i would go for Bullet, because i think it wont be wise for me to go over 500 600cc in terms of handling... Also i plan to move to Triumph in some time , but this RE Bullet man... so weird bike , there is always some unreal feeling that pulls me into that bike... look at that light and cockpit.
I'm 73 - my wife doesn't want me to get another bike - my first was a Yamaha YDS5E - loved it - many bikes since then but not for years now - long story short, I think I would go for the Bonnie here - help me to persuade the boss!
I think you’ve picked a winner doing second hand reviews at a price point. Look forward to seeing your other reviews. Definitely the Triumph Bonnie btw.
I agree the Bonneville is the pick out of the three bikes! However, I’d save to get a Ducati, or even the HD Sportster 1200, as they’re resale value is going up!! EDIT: on second thought I’d buy the Honda CB1300 as it’ll still be running forever!
You didn't mention how old that orange triumph was. It looked pretty old for the design but the condition is top notch, the engines are neat and clean, the frames and the panels are not scratched up, neither the tank. Still in brand new condition even though it's an old bike.
on the website you can not check the bikes up to any specific milage, price or cc...(eg. all bikes under 3000 miles) instead you can only select a range between two numbers of their choice. not the best search progress as a UX hope they get it better soon.
Interesting video, but I have a Street Rod 750, and that isn't one (although the spec on screen looked correct). It is a Street 750, which has less power, worse brakes and suspension, and reportedly worse build quality than the Street Rod. The ergonomics are very different between the two - the Street Rod is more sporty (less comfortable) and a little weird in its foot position, although I've got used to it. The Street Rod has drag bars and bar-end mirrors which look great but make the bike quite wide. The Street was around longer and it is easier to find accessories; there is very little for the Street Rod apart from exhausts. I really like my Street Rod, and I reckon at under 5k would be a good deal, but I do like the look of that Bonneville.
I agree, re the W650. Just bought one. See my other comment on this video. I think the Super Bike Shop doesn't stock anything over 20 years old, but, as you probably know the W650 was made until 2007, I think, so maybe next time.
When you can get a brand new Interceptor for £5600, looking at used iron in the same price range is entirely relevant. Maybe £6k limit? I do this every time I set a budget. It just keeps getting higher; if only I could stretch a little higher….. It never works does it.
There are so many horror stories on forums about dealing with Superbike Factory, I wouldn't be brave enough to buy a bike from them although I keep running into their ads.. those low prices almost always followed by ugly surprises...
I bought a used motorcycle for half the price of a new one (and 1/3 the out the door price) and now I am outraged that the bike is not as dependable as a new one and will require more maintenance!
My cousin in Canada teaches riding and uses the Harley. I had a go the last time I was over and I have to say I wasn't impressed. It was underpowered, handling poor and the brakes almost nonexistent. Out of the 3 it is the bonny every time.
Funny, when I wanted to test ride a bike I wanted to buy they told me I couldn't as their policy was no test rides due to quantity of bikes. They lost a sale there and I eventually got a much better one both in condition and price. This dealer is quantity not quality; somd quite shabby bikes on sale there!!
I've been looking for a second bike for about 4 grand lately and I tell you what that Benelli leoncino 500 can be picked up for 4500 new. I'm tempted. That Harley looks like a pile of crap tbh. Glad they dropped it, don't know what they were thinking.
I wouldn't buy a key ring from Superbike Factory, they're a charlatan company who use motorcycles to sell their main area of business which is finance. I bought a bike from them about three years ago which had a cracked engine, crudely welded together. I noticed this after a month when an oil leak appeared. I made them aware at which they accused me of damaging the engine. After a heated discussion they agreed to assess the bike. They agreed the weld was old and refunded me. They said the bike was not financially worth repairing yet the following day it was back for sale at a higher price than I paid. AVOID AVOID AVOID!
enjoyed your blog. superbike factory at castle Donnington ,do not let you test ride a motorcycle. Crazy.,they say you have 14 days to return it..Crazy.
The bike you showed is not street rod 750(XG750A). The bike you showed is street 750. Street rod 750 is a far better bike.
My bad! Pinned for others to see 👍
I wish there were more vids like this - well done for breaking out of the brand new bikes rut. I personally always look for bikes at about 5 years old - you can get so much more for your money and avoid the surprisingly common problems that new bikes can have.
A great episode!
Can you do more like this please? Tourers, hyper-nakeds, cruisers etc. All within certain price points?
Great work, keep it up. 👌👌👌
More used bike hunts! Loved the format. And the focus on retros with a dash of cruiser

This is going to be a great series of videos - looking forward to the next one(s)!

Or buy not thru a third person
Nice job giving an overview of choices near and below the 5K mark. Absolutely would choose the Bonneville.
It would have to be triumph bonneville for me because I did Route 66 and the Pacific highway up to San Francisco on one of those bikes. It was a brilliant bike and never missed a beat on the whole trip.
Out of the 3 you chose, I would go for the triumph. The style and look of the bike in red and black would be my first choice
gotta love the series, keep it going for more price ranges and more bike styles
The Bullet is growing on me big time as of late. I would choose it between these three as a second bike, but the Bonnie is surely a better all around bike.
Great vid. Would take the triumph as love the looks and loads of after market parts. Nice to see a different themed vid rather than just new bikes. Really enjoyed it👍

A great intro to what's on offer . Great looking bikes
I absolutely love my Street Twin, 5 years later… And if it has a smaller tank than the Bonnie, it has the same mileage, since it uses less gas !
Another great video.
Really good production.
Fast becoming my favourite vlogger.
Together with TMF.
Keep them coming.
Nice to watch as we all don’t have loads of money to spend on new bikes 🏍

Nice to see you near my home town/city 😁
I'm hoping to get to the factory one day soon to have a look around.
Another great video, mate.
This video was amazing! More of this please. Well done!
Like the video, nice idea. Two of the bikes were cleaner than what I thought Superbike Factory sold. Might be worth a visit.
The £99 admin fee is disingenuous. It costs nothing to do the admin to change the ownership details. Until such time as retailers advertise the full purchase price I will continue to boycott them and I urge others to do likewise.👎
£99 admin fee, rip off.
Quite simply, I negotiate with a vehicle dealer on the “out the door price”. I don’t care how they arrive at that number.
I completely agree - I see ‘admin fee’ and it turns me off from the dealer
I have done some more digging reference the admin fee and this is what I found:
“The only situation in which the supplier can request the additional money is if the correct price had been discussed with the customer before the purchase. If a customer is charged more for a product than what was advertised, they are entitled to ask to be refunded the price difference”.
So it’s a grey area but I am taking legal advice to see if this is an illegal practice. Will report back when I have a legal precedent which I’m sure there must be.
Cracking video, so excited for the series
Nice video. Nice to remember that new riders need bikes as well.🍻
Cracking review and interesting bike selection. Great to see pre owned bikes. Some bargains to be had.
I recently bought a 2009 speed triple from a dealer for £4500, 5600 miles on it and one owner from new, there are lots of bikes out there for not a lot of money.
Definitely going to feature the speed triple in the next one - best nakeds under £5k.
I went for a classic 500 chrome love it and it will do 80 so motorways are ok swap the torpedo exhaust for a lightweight bottle exhaust and it sounds mega
Great snapshot of what’s out there. Probably go for the Honda 1300 for myself.
Love the reviews and love the Bonnie! Waiting on delivery of the '22 cb500x. Loved your review of that bike as well! Please, keep the reviews coming MotoBob!
I like sooo much your vids. I’m a subscriber from sunny Madrid!
I think that the triumph bonneville is the best of the bunch great reviews next time let's see what you would pick for under £6000 .😊👍
It's typical that the nicer bikes are just that little bit over the agreed budget. The cb1300 looked tempting 😋
Great Video Mr Bob.
Keep them coming.👍
Well done! So it doesn't matter what it looks like and performs?..it's a Harley! Surely mr Bob!

That Bonneville SE is the only choice, IMO! That one looks great, and I love the bar-end mirrors as well as the mini fairing.
The building actually used to be an F1 museum I think - it went out of business and SBF fixed it up into this awesome store.
I like the back to back idea, neat. For me from those three bikes it would have to be the Bonnie. What's next? Should be interesting.
Once again I am reminded that motorcycling is so personal, as to choose any of these three bikes would be my worst nightmare!. But, if I had to think which one would be the best for me then it would be the Bonnie.
Wow i really enjoyed the video you do make amazing video and cant wait for another, also nice music .... I peak the speed triple RR, wow, gorgeous
Nice idea Bob. Thank you. Maybe some Superbikes of say the 90’s, when they were in my humble opinion at the top of the game would be great to see and even better for younger riders to hear that they (from racing lap times perspectives), not as far away from the modern litre bikes of today. 👍😎🇦🇺

i have the same RE bullet 500 and its so Good.
what typucal 'homework' we should do if we buy a used bike like these three? Do we have to change some parts that look 'tired'? thanks.
Seems like a great clearing house for good used bikes. Anybody know of something like this in the NE USA?
I'm not a Harley fan but it is a nicely styled machine.
I would Vote Bonnie 🍻 for the versatility.
That street cup looked nice. With used bikes another 1000 always buys a lot more bike, but where do you stop.
That harley looks better than the usual Harley’s although the only one I would consider would be the V-Rod.
Interceptor?
Really good article for new riders not wanting to spend a fortune 👍
Definitely gonna buy a bike from here inntt future!
Wow! i wish I live there, a bonnie will cost 3.5 times higher in my country
You didn't mention how old that orange triumph was. It looked pretty old for the design but the condition is top notch, the engines are neat and clean, the frames and the panels are not scratched up, neither the tank. Still in brand new condition even though it's an old bike.

Bonneville SE 2014
I would pick the Triumph also. It's beautiful and looks very classy.......Sal : )
on the website you can not check the bikes up to any specific milage, price or cc...(eg. all bikes under 3000 miles) instead you can only select a range between two numbers of their choice. not the best search progress as a UX hope they get it better soon.
The Bonnie. Hands down!
That Boneville is beautiful.

Nice,
Make more videos on Royal Enfield motorcycles (both old and new)
The Bonne, hands down 👌
Ide definitely go for that bonnie se. That’s beautiful. The re is nice too and ide never own a harly
Ide actually look for a triumph thinderbird 900. Ive got a2000 legend tt i ansolutly love
For the money, I'd choose the Triumph but its a bit bigger than I would want.
That bonne has been on sale there for ages , they can't shift it .
Wicked video, many thanks.
no W650? You mention the W800 should be available, but the w650 (carbs and kick) is da thing.
or yamaha sr 400, 500
They didn’t have any - I had to work with whatever’s in stock for these vids
I agree, re the W650. Just bought one. See my other comment on this video.
I think the Super Bike Shop doesn't stock anything over 20 years old, but, as you probably know the W650 was made until 2007, I think, so maybe next time.
There is a huge line in the sand at £5k, like you said £5.2 £5.4 would get you a liquid cooled bonnie.
Bonny for me - but i agree with the comments - 2 or 3 price points would be better
When you can get a brand new Interceptor for £5600, looking at used iron in the same price range is entirely relevant. Maybe £6k limit? I do this every time I set a budget. It just keeps getting higher; if only I could stretch a little higher….. It never works does it.
early Ducati Monster could be fun
Liked this Bob. Obviously didn’t have a Guzzi V7 in stock 😉😬.
More from this store plz
The cafe is worth a visit
I was lucky enough to have time for a proper lunch there - wholeheartedly agree that it’s worth a trip 👍
Need to spend that extra £1k it seems for your used Retro theme. At budget, Honda CB1300S all day long!
Hi great video very informative Dave S
There are so many horror stories on forums about dealing with Superbike Factory, I wouldn't be brave enough to buy a bike from them although I keep running into their ads.. those low prices almost always followed by ugly surprises...
I bought a used motorcycle for half the price of a new one (and 1/3 the out the door price) and now I am outraged that the bike is not as dependable as a new one and will require more maintenance!
Me too the Bonnie 😃
The Triumph 865 for me but not in that colour!
They got F1 on TV! 👍😀
Of this selection it would be the Triumph for me, but only because you didn't ride a V7
Like you I would choose the triumph
You never speak about engine heat.what is high mileage??
Bonnie … easy choice for me
My cousin in Canada teaches riding and uses the Harley. I had a go the last time I was over and I have to say I wasn't impressed. It was underpowered, handling poor and the brakes almost nonexistent. Out of the 3 it is the bonny every time.
You can get a Near new royal Enfield interceptor 650 for that money, maybe even less.
I feel most people wanting a used motorcycle video didn't mean from a dealer.
I've been looking for a second bike for about 4 grand lately and I tell you what that Benelli leoncino 500 can be picked up for 4500 new. I'm tempted. That Harley looks like a pile of crap tbh. Glad they dropped it, don't know what they were thinking.
Try finding a Kawasaki Zephyr 750 from 97-01 ;)
I wouldn't buy a key ring from Superbike Factory, they're a charlatan company who use motorcycles to sell their main area of business which is finance. Ouch. We bikers should stop buying financial products from bike shops. We wouldn’t buy a bike from a bank because the cashier recommended it!
yep. friend had similar horror story.
price point bikes are indeed the future. Anything above 6 is just not happening imo
Not sure about the glasses Bob 🤔
I will have them all, but the Bullet his the nicer out of them
