That's pretty crazy with these new best of three wild card playoffs. A team can be gone so quick you hardly have time to realize they were there. It happened to the Tampa Bay Rays, the Toronto Blue Jays and now the St Louis Cardinals.
What also crazy is first time in the division series that there no representation from a division as no nl central team wil be in the nl division series

Really sad to see Pujols get a good hit then Goldschmidt and Arenado came up empty and stranding two. Also I guess that was Pujols' and Yadi's last at bats huh? Pretty cool to see them get a hit. What a career for those two. Gl Phillies hope they win against the Braves.
love Pujols and Molina's relationship. I hate my husband didn't get to see the reunion with the Cardinals he love watching him play. but I'm hoping the Braves win.
Goldschmidt and Arenado really tailed off starting Sep 1 and it carried in to post season. There have been plenty of good hitters during a regular season that do not do well in post season. What an amazing year for Albert who was the Cards best hitter at the end of the season. It was neat how Albert got the hit in the 8th putting 2 runners on base but Goldschmidt and Arenao then failed. Then Molina got a hit in his last bat in 9th putting 2 runners on base, but the Cards have so much trouble hitting. Quintana and Montgomery made the post season possible for the Cards Congrats to the Phillies!
That's an interesting observation by you. That's why I love baseball. Any at bat can be used to paint a larger picture about a team or player's performance.
@@RenaldyCalixte The St. Louis Post Dispatch newspaper just did an article on Goldschmidt. He was pursuing the triple crown around Sep 1 but then did almost nothing the rest of the year .
The Cards best hitters did not show up this series. Credit Wheeler and Nola for shutting them down. Braves/Phillies should be a good series. Atlanta might be favored but they better not take them lightly.
I dont know much, but I do know that what they just did to the Cards gives them momentum n great confidence- 2 very valuable intangibles.. I'd have to say they have a great chance against Atlanta. It's really a toss up at this point
I was amazed at how many batters swung at very bad pitches. You can expect a hitter to go out of the strike zone on occasion, but this was ridiculous.
That's a good point. Impatience can be a hitter's worse enemy.

I'm a Tampa Bay Rays fan but you have to admire the way St Louis really packs the stands for the cardinals. Meanwhile my Rays have some of the lowest attendance records in the major leagues. But they seem to get the job done every year. I mean at least they're in the playoffs and they were in the world series I think last year.
Last season, my Braves defeated the Astros in the WS. The Rays were home watching the game on TV.
yeah, well, here in STL we only have 2 teams: The Cardinals n The Blues.. This has ALWAYS been a baseball town, goin way back. There aint much else to do here. It's a tiny city comparatively

I'm really not a baseball fan, although I enjoyed watching these highlight vids of the 1st 2 games. But I think its bullshit that a wild card team plays the team with the best record in the very first playoff series. It makes no sense. The Cards shouldve gotten a pass (a reward for having the best record) and let the Phillies play whomever.. But it doesnt matter to me at all. It's just an observation. Good vid! I really enjoyed it
Cards have the worst record out of the division winners therefore they don't get a bye. It's the opposite of the NFL. In the NFL the best record in your Conference means you get a bye while other teams who win their division with great regular season records have to play a Wild Card game.
