Your reaction when your partner came was soo adorable! I wish you patience and perseverance for settling to your new place, I’m sure it’s gonna go great🤍
it's seldom I ever get feelings of sentimentality but I just wanted to say this made me super happy for ya emma, I hope you, your significant other and Calcifer all settle in quickly and smoothly! also, happy birthday!
Love spending my Sundays here with Emma! 🥰 The place looks great! I’m sure it will get all cinnamony cozy emmafied! 😊 also yay for a bit of balcony space for URBAN CITY gardening! 🍅🪴🌱 Because you mentioned the Toronto Islands: 🏝“Ember Island is a magical place, keep an open mind. It can help you understand yourself. The beach has a special way of smoothing even the most ragged edges” - Lo and Li So happy you are happy! 😊
I got all teary eyed when I saw the Toronto skyline. I miss that city, especially the people. I hope it will treat you kind as well. Although I understand your pain about apartments--Toronto apartments are small and expensive. But you've got a lot to enjoy. I don't know how London was, but Toronto is super friendly for vegan/gluten-free diets. One of my former colleagues from Australia, who is celiac + is allergic to eggs and has lactose intolerance, literally started crying (tears of joy) because she never used to have so many options for eating.
Calcifer reminds me of my own cat when he was a little baby! He also grew up to be enormous. I wish you the best with the move and settling in, and I'll look forward to seeing what you end up doing with the new apartment! 😊
when your partner arrived and interrupted your book rant 😭❤ wishing you three all the best in this new chapter. hope you love to grow the place you moved into ♡♡♡
I am 42 years old now and since 22 years ago I have decided not to celebrate my birthday anymore, but to make it a tradition to take a short vacation. No compulsory birthday. Love it!
I just realized I've never seen lightning on water either and I live in the literal Ocean State. I'm now intrigued and must see this. Thank you, as always, for making our lives brighter with your thoughts and what you share with us. ❤️
I don't know how you do this but every time i watch one of your videos it just makes me excited about reading and makes me appreciate reading and books in my life and now it makes me want to explore my city more - a city I've lived in almost all my life and don't particularly like tbh- and now i want to go and seek out new things and cool spots even here. So thanks for your energy and I'm very happy the move is going well for you, your partner and Calcifer 💕✨ and happy birthday once again 😌
Happy birthday Emmie!!! You are such my inspiration to books and many things. You are like my companion who overcame days of depression and boredom with me... So grateful to have you as a part of my life. Your videos make me feel so cozy and chilly especially when it is watched on Sunday!🥰 P/s: Enjoy your new apartment and your birthday!Love you!!☘🌳🌷🌱🌺🌻🌼🌹🌿🍁🍂🍃
Calcifier in his little seat belt thingy.... SO CUTE! Also, im so glad (especially after seeing the moving videos from before where you went crying and lil panic attacks) to see you like it there! It probably will need a bit more time to fully feel home and comfy, but i guess the view outside the window is helping you alot! :D And happy belated Birthday!
Emma! You should go visit one of the BMV bookstores downtown! They have literally everything and it's ridiculously affordable bc they buy discontinued editions in bulk. And you can sell any books you don't want too and get store credit :)
After watching this video I started want to live in Canada. I love big cities, and the view of your window is just amazing especially at a nighttime. It's freezing cold where I'm living now, and watching something so summery makes me feel and remember that there is not just winter but someday can be really warm again. I really love wintertime, but not when it's cold even in the apartment. And I think weather in Canada very similar to Syberia. 🤔 So thank you for the piece of summer, now it's warmer not outside but inside ☀
i know you just said you kind of don't like your birthday, but i just wanted you to know that i'm very grateful for your existence. and for sharing your life and your thoughts on the internet with us ♡♡♡
I don't read anymore but growing up Kerstin Gier was my favorite author, so you mentioning her was pretty suprising to hear and just gave me a whole throwback
I really love Kerstin Gier's YA books, I always read them to my mom and her fav series from her is actually the Dream a little dream one. I'm always a little protective of Gier's books when people read them in English because I think her absolute strong suit is the writing style and the atmosphere and I'm not sure it 100% translates but that may just be me being protective of my nostalgic favs 😅 I think the series is worth continuing though! Also, loved this vlog and glad Calcifer is adjusting so well to the new environment! Hope you feel just as home ☺
I've hardly been on YT for months and this is the first vlog of yours I've watched in a long time. So happy for you! Looks like your life is filled with good things at the moment, which is exactly what you deserve
Toronto looks amazing in your eyes! 🥲 I am glad you decided to move there and experience living in a big city. I also moved from a very small city to a bigger city when I was younger and it totally changed my perception, although, now I would prefer to live in a smaller one. 😅 But it's a life-changing decision: there are lots of opportunities and things to experiment, meet new people, walk down the streets for hours, enjoy all the music around you, check all the cafes (besides Starbucks, there are lots of coffee specialties in big cities) where you can read your books and work, go to concerts, go to theater, go to opera, check lots of second-hand bookshops, go to different kind of events. Not to mention the food... and all the things you can find in a big city!! Don't be afraid to visit the city by yourself and enjoy it to the max! ❤🔥
About birthday-spotlight-anxiety - I have a friend who has that too would rather we don't do a bit thing out of it. So to anyone out there thinking that they are weird for it - you are not! You are fine just as you are, can celebrate (or not celebrate) as little or much you want and you are definitely not alone!
I'm so glad that your new place has brought you some joy, with being able to see the water. Great to see your house plants appearing and of course your beautiful books. I hope in the future you can do a video on the libraries and bookshops of Toronto. In Melbourne, Australia we call Streetcars, Trams.
So sad, that you didnt love Dream a little Dream. I read the series a while ago, when I was younger and I loved it so much. I live in Germany, so Kerstin Gier really was kind of an essential part of my childhood😆Personally, I preferred the Siver Trilogy over the Ruby Red Trilogy, since that deals a lot with time travel and I kinda have a hard time enjoying that in books. But I am already excited to hear your thoughts on Ruby Red, hopefully you´ll enjoy that more.☺Btw, there are also movies of the Ruby Red Trilogy but the books are definitely better. I hope you get settled in smoothly, happy birthday🎉and greetings from Germany!

Hi, Emma! I know I'm a few videos late for this comment, but I too moved a few months ago to a big city with my partner so I could go to college. I'm one of the biggest introverts out there, but keeping busy, having the support of loved ones, and finding gratitude on the smallest of things are really helping me. welcome to toronto! came back to your channel recently and it felt like coming back to an old friend. Reading 100 years of solitude rn and so excited to follow along with you :)
Toronto looks so nice! I've never been to Canada but would love to one day. I also feel the same way about my birthday. One time I forgot until my mom reminded me. I was having the roughest year of my life because I was in college and homesick. I made waffles and watched movies all day. I hope you had a good birthday. All the best.
Watching you, Emma, is like watching water. Seriously. Brava, so glad your move is proving to be positive and exciting for you. You'll thrive. / Let us celebrate your birthday and you just go have a quiet, normal day for yourself, how about that? As with Monarch Butterflies, (I live near one of their waypoints on the migration route), you grace the world with your presence, as do many other sentient beings, and it's always good to let them know it's appreciated. Too much negativity otherwise seeps in. Namaste.
I read once that when the Monarchs emigrate to Mexico, there can be so many nesting on a branch that the weight of the butterflies is enough to break it.
So glad the move went well and hope you’re doing well! ❤️ Wishing you a happy and hopefully low key birthday! Enjoy those islands! Toronto is beautiful!
To put a dent in the reading slump/DNF-ing, I recommend A Closed and Common Orbit by Becky Chambers. It's book 2 in the Wayfarers series (you've already read book 1, The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet). Book 2 is my favourite of the series and has a bit of a stronger storyline, focusing on Pepper/Jane and Sidra/Lovelace.
Since you just moved to Toronto, you should try Cats Eye by Margaret Atwood which is set there. It’s such a good place to start with Atwood in my opinion and is a touchy, relatable, and funny story about girl and womanhood.
Literally as you were describing It Happened One Summer I was thinking that it sounds exactly like Hometown Cha Cha Cha lol. Which I adore...maybe I'll give it a shot
I’m so happy you’re discovering new things and enjoying everything in your path so far. I also don’t like celebrating my birthday. My last party was for my 10th and then I stopped celebrating after that.
Emma, happy birthday! And hey, this might be out of topic but I can't wait to see how winter is going to be like with that amazing view! and you couldl also vlog in the lake or niagara falls, idk, girl, I'm so excited for you c: I went to Toronto when I was 16 as a colombian exchange student, I had so much fun and I loved it so much! I hope I can go there soon, but for now, girl, believe me, that city has a lot of potencial to make u happy c:
Hello Emma, I've noticed you were a little bit scared about living in Toronto but in this vlog it seems you are enjoing the big city! I love the park with animals and jazz. I hope this thrill will last, I want to see you happy.
Congrats on the successful move. I always wonder if people who live in tall buildings feel the building move. Living in rural Kansas there aren't many, well any, tall buildings.

2. As a lifelong Florida resident, I can confirm: air conditioners always break in July. 🤬lol
Happy Birthday! Loved every minute of this video. I would love to see the Toronto library, if that's something you can vlog!
I literally love this ☺❤📚
Literally as you were describing It Happened One Summer I was thinking that it sounds exactly like Hometown Cha Cha Cha lol. Which I adore...maybe I'll give it a shot
I’m so happy you’re discovering new things and enjoying everything in your path so far. I also don’t like celebrating my birthday. My last party was for my 10th and then I stopped celebrating after that.
aw welcome to toronto!! your apartment is gorgeous-so excited to see you thriving into a new life chapter! 💫
Happy belated birthday!! Im glad the move went well and I hope you’re settling in nicely ❤️
You're sooo lucky! And you have an amazing view. I would love to visit Toronto someday.
Hello Emma, I've noticed you were a little bit scared about living in Toronto but in this vlog it seems you are enjoing the big city! I love the park with animals and jazz. I hope this thrill will last, I want to see you happy.
Happy to see you have space for another slim bookcase on the side of the black one AND on the side of the bed ;-)
Congrats on the successful move. I always wonder if people who live in tall buildings feel the building move. Living in rural Kansas there aren't many, well any, tall buildings.
Happy birthday and glad the move is going well.
Love your new place looks fantastic and amazing 😉 hope that all goes well for you all please stay safe and enjoy your reading 📖 xxxx
I love you and your videos Emmie, they are just such a delight ^_^
