    i *cannot* believe you had only that small amount of time in paris !!!!! was totally expecting you to stay a few days !! bravo indeed for all the research which led to such efficiency ! SUPER impressed. i think you had an overall good experience because you were polite & well behaved but also because these SAs are super well trained & experienced. those based in galeries lafayette will be more harassed as they will have way more people simply browsing vs passionate buyers. btw i’m sure boutiques allow browsing too - you will never know what may catch a customer’s eye ! plus, they have come to realise that whatever your nationality, ANY tourist coming in probably has the means to purchase something if they had already travelled all the way there. just one thing re the VAT refund : if you’re flying out of the paris international airport, the process is much quicker as there are machines to scan the barcode on the forms instead. and you’ll also get to keep the forms so it’s much easier to have the info at hand if you need to follow up on your refund status. mine took about 6 weeks i think, but this varies depending on season as well as the company processing the refund. you’ll still need to have the items at hand just in case the machine prompts you to show them to the customs officer (also in the same area as the machines). you can google PABLO VAT Paris for ex. to find out more. i really hope you’ll get a chance to stay longer in paris the next time !! 💗

    Hi Maggie, can you please elaborate on the process of what happened when you entered the US in terms of declaring and paying import and duties tax at customs. How much did they charge you? I heard it can be the same rate as the VAT refund. Love your videos! Thank you!!

    I bought a Hermes belt in deGaulle airport. We had a VAT form but my husband who is VERY type A wanted to check our bags first then go to the line. Of course they wanted to see the item and would not stamp my form. I think I was a duty free store in the airport, but still!!! To this day I’m mad at my husband for that error. Glad you had a great time although it sounds stressful trying to do everything and not miss the bus to return to the ship!!!

    It's nice to see your experience shopping at Paris. I was at the same Dior store last month on a Sunday afternoon. I was there an hr before closing and there was no one in line. I walked straight in and looked around and a SA helped me right away. I'm from NY so she brought me to another SA who was also from NY. He was so nice in helping me choose my bag. The whole process was so easy and the store was so pretty. At the end of my trip, I brought my VAT refund form to my airport terminal at CDG terminal 3. There was just a machine that scanned my bar code. I don't have to send anything in or show anyone anything. I got my refund back to my credit card within 10 days.

      I’m currently in Japan and some department stores have the scanning bar code situation I’ve never seen that before so that’s super good to know how certain airports do it differently thank you for the tip ✨

Glad that you managed to visit so many boutiques in such a small amount of time and that you had a lovely experience. If you can, would love to get an update on whether you received the full 12% (for LV) or 13% (for Chanel) VAT refund from the companies or a certain % was deducted for service/processing fees etc.

    I have to say it seemed a lot more complicated than mine!
    I was in Spain, which is the best place to spend for luxury goods cause its usually the lowest price in Europe. The Chanel lady just asked us for our passport and filled out the form for us and all we had to do was bring it to th airport and go to a machine and scan barcode/enter details. Once that was done, we went to the counter for VAT and they gave us our money back in the form that we paid in. In this case, it was cash so we got cash back. 😁

    I went to Paris 2 weeks ago and was able to get my tax refund really easily. Celine use Global Blue and there is a VIP Lounge just down the street from Rue Cambon which allowed me to get my refund in 2 days back to my credit card. Super easy! I went to the Celine store on St Honoré and it was super small! Not what I was expecting for the flagship. It was my first time buying from a luxury store and my SA was not that nice to me :( I shouldn’t have purchased it from her but I was just so excited to see my bag!

      @@miradonfbd we converted its like EUR 76 more than buying in Europe. But since there is no need to book, no need to queue and the stock availability, its worth of buying in Dubai. Chanel classic flap medium caviar in SHW was 9138 EUR (converted) for example; not sure how much the difference for this as i am not following the price. Plus… tourist still gets the tax return (not as much as EU of course).

    Thank you for the information. You mentioned, your aunt experienced an issue paying for pieces. Her credit card saw it as fraud. How did you rectify this? I am from the US also. This is my fear if I ever go to Europe.

    • @thiskittenhasclaws
      @thiskittenhasclaws Год назад +3

      I’m not based in the US, but before I travel with a debit card or credit card, I can tell my bank before travelling via online banking that I’m going to that country and the dates I’m leaving and returning. The bank will then be aware that any purchases in that country during that period are unlikely to be fraudulent. I’ve also been called by my bank whilst in that country to check that my last purchase was legitimate and my card has not been stolen, and after that I had no issues using my card. If your card is flagged in store during the purchase, in the past I’ve had to confirm the purchase over the phone with the bank to allow the payment to go through. I hope you enjoy any future trips you book and have no issues~~~❤

      Unfortunately, LV stores in Europe do not offer you any beverages unless you ask for it. I've shopped in many LV stores throughout Europe and I've never been offered a drink which is sad considering the amount of money people spend. The only time I had a drink was in Milan a month ago when I asked for water *sigh*
