- What a MONSTER! Ever wonder what would happen if you put a 540ci Hemi engine with a MASSIVE Whipple screw blower on alcohol in a 63 Chevy Impala? Well it would probably look a lot like "The Gudfar" (Norwegian for Godfather). We ran into this car, owned by Jamond Haug and his brother at the Ozark Raceway Park and at the I29 Dragway for some No Prep Races and we were blown away by how gorgeous this thing is. With this Monster making well over 2000hp to the tires, it looks insane going down the strip! Traction is NOT on the Gufar's side...going up, down and side to side, before it makes its way across the finish line, surprisingly winning with very little traction in many races! These are LITERALLY the first full passes on the car. We're certain we will see this beast taking home some big $$$ very soon!

3:36 Transmission fully exposed inside the car, with no covers or scatter gaurds or bell housing shields of any kind? Not only is that ballsy but I'm really shocked that its legal to run in any class like that. Seams like a good way to end up like Don "Big Daddy" Garlitz. Missing part of his foot because his clutch blew up when the tree turned green. Anyways, other than it weighing a lot and being pretty unstabile most of the way down the track, I like it a lot. cool car. Awesome build!!!

'63-64 Impala is about the most perfect car, lowrider, drag car, cruiser, can pretty much be built into anything. Such simple looks but one of my all time favorite body styles.

Nice job on the impala but looks like there needs to be some tuning on the suspension to keep the car straight down the track
It launches great, seems like when it comes back down the weight transfer is causing the back to get squirrelly. Kudos to the driver who is modulating all of that steam!

Damn true definition of a pro street or radical street car. All steel back half. Love this car. It's big and heavy but does it ever stand out and is one of a kind definitely.id take this car with the set up over any common nova Mustang camaro etc. Love to see different cars.

My dad grew up with him (Jamond Haug), and I didn't even realize how big a deal Jamond was until today. I'm big into cars, and my dad was telling me all these stories about him and the cars and stereo systems he would set up as a kid, when they were teens.
That thing makes so much power that it can't even keep straight. Beasty!

Whipple 980 with a PSI mag injector! I like the adapter setup! Very good thinking. Those Whipples are 604 cubic inches, they move some serious air.

That thing has way more power than he is getting to the strip. Getting it to settle would require quite an alteration. As it is, the tires are huge and the engine has a butt load of torque, and the car is heavy enough to force weight transfer. ...But, the center of gravity is so far forward that the weight transfer goes away really quick. Now move that thunder box back in the chassis about 12 inches and extend the lower 2 of the 4-links a bit; that would move the center of gravity on back to the sweet spot and compensate for the long wheel base. Then it would explode off the line nice and straight and stay hooked up......theoretically. :)

In the opening comments he says it's a back half car,, there ya go! If he'd yank that out a there and stuff a pro built chassis under it he might get it to track nice and straight,, but then it would be just another door car huh,, this set up is memorable and a genuine crowd pleaser. Let's keep our fingers crossed he doesn't one day lose it and take it and himself out!

From what I see, it's more likely a deflection issue, too much power for the parts they use, twist/flex

That Impala is pure sickness. Appears some chassis tuning is in order, though. An ill handling machine at best. I love it!
Definitely needs a wheelie bar and some adjustments then it will be crazy fast. And being that fast with a huge heavy car is awesome.
