I think Jimmie is coming back to have some fun.
He is thee Best
Maybe without the pressure and jus having fun maybe he'll get that number 8. I def would not be mad to see HIM surpass the King and the Intimidator. But just as good either way. 5 in a row, that's legendary.
Betting Against the LIFE ??????
@@ericjohn8466 he can't win number 8 because he's only running a few races.
@GoodOlRoll oh I know, but I wouldn't be mad if he did tho 😁
Its almost refreshing to have a few guys on the grid who aren't doing it for the sponsors/money but just for the love of racing. Having more legends running a couple of times a year in the Xfinity/Trucks series would be great, gives a reason for fans to buy a ticket, brings extra eyeballs, & allows new fans to get in touch with the history of the sport
What a Great Post,,,,
Awesome view point 💪 I totally agree with you!
You know that’s something I always wondered why more legends never show up for one off races.. finding a ride and sponsoring wouldn’t be hard and unlike other sports they could at least do decent.. I’d love to see Jeff or rusty or Tony or mark or bill etc etc do what junior does every year
I wish yall would put the whole show on RUclips. All of them not just short clips. Thanks
I’m glad he is coming back… we have almost lost our old schoolers of the last 25 years… Harvick is the last one left… so it’s refreshing to me no matter how he does just because he is Jimmy…. 7 time champion and good dude
Exactly
It’s funny to us old farts that you think that JJ and Harvick are ‘old schoolers’. Seems like only yesterday I watched Harvick jump off a hood and grab hisself a couple handfuls of Greg Snivel after a Busch race
It’s Jimmie!!!!
Jimmie….
Yup, that's how time works.
Jimmie Johnson is an all-time legend. It's awesome he is coming back. This does absolutely nothing to alter his legacy.
His legacy is having elite equipment and losing his last 131 and embarrassing himself in indycar
@@Weezy10580 If you say so, I think 7 championships is pretty damn good lol
@@delphicmaxim All manufactured championships due to the chase gimmick
@@Weezy10580 not all of them, and his first 9 years would be insane. From 2002-2010 his points finishes would be 5th, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd, 1st, 2nd, 2nd, 1st, and 2nd.
@@GoodOlRoll He would have 3 total championships they based the season on points as they should. Although he was consistent he was nowhere near as dominant as Gordon or even Earnhardt, all it takes is a quick look at laps led and top 5s
Great show. And while I'm not a Jimmy Johnson fan, I hope he gets to have some FUN coming back to race. Love y'all Dale and everyone at Dirty Mo (all the things under the umbrella of Dirty Mo Media!!! Keep up the great work Dale Jr and crew!!! Y'all are AWESOME and LOVED💞🤗💞🏁🏆🏁🙏🙏🙏🙏
Jimmie
I will argue that his Indy car time was not a total flop. Sure at Roadcourses he was not good. BUT at Texas, Iowa (both dates) and at Indy he was one of the fastest on track and often faster than the leader. So lets give him some credit for that
Dude didn't know how to put his car in reverse.
Right on 👍🏾
It's the braking, it's so hard, when you lift the drag is epic (esp in F1) hit the brakes and your body weight provides braking power....it's so far away from NASCAR but on an oval where braking isn't key then he could get great laps BUT without set up info from sn experienced teammate with similar style then it's a nightmare.
I respect him trying. He'd done it all in NASCAR and nobody wanted him beating Petty or Earnhardt records
Hey he was able to try and was lucky enough to have a ride ya Indy was no good but now he knows no regret
@@hamonryechinaski180 i think he’s got a newfound respect for Tony , but I don’t think smoke could drive those new Indy cars .
Listen, I have been a Jimmie Johnson fan since he was in Busch. Dude is a straight up great guy. Met him many times before and after he was a champion. I’ll always support him doing what he wants. You can’t tarnish a legacy by having fun racing. He’s an athlete through and through and one of the reasons race car drivers were brought into the athlete conversation because of his athletic abilities on and off the track. I’d love to see his adjustment to the next gen car.
Not a JJ fan, but I've loved the guy ever since he climbed from his coffin at Watkins Glen, jumped on the roof of his destroyed Busch car, raised his arm's in the triumphant "I frickin can't believe I'm not dead!!" Pose 😂👍
3:41 damn, I'm on board with you Dale. How can they take Petty out of the name. I know theres not any Petty's involved really, but having it disappear is sad.
Richard Petty was involved in the decision and he 100% on board with it. I guess you didn't listen to Richard Petty explain the decision did you? You're acting like what's your petty was the majority owner as it is when Murray gallinger is the majority owner
@@johnhaas2523 I'm "acting" like someone Dale's age that has grown up with petty and the team (even when they were not competitive) being iconic not only in NASCAR but worldwide. Swap out Gibbs, Childress or Hendrick with a random not well thought out name, and I'd have the same opinion.. they are both 7 time champions, both iconic names/personalities, and that's the best they could do?
Man, it's like the whole winter never happened and nascar is BACK!
As a Gordon fan I hated Jimmie and the way he dominated everything throughout his career....but as I got older I've come to appreciate his career and what he accomplished. Glad to see him back on track.
I look forward to cheering one of my all-time favorites again, and hopefully I'll be able to listen to him taking the checkered flag this time on the Motor Racing Network or the Performance Racing Network.
I don't think it matters if Jimmy wins, or loses, it's just gonna be COOL to see him behind the wheel again! I hope he does win, but if he doesn't, so what! ENJOY JIMMY, nice to have you back! PEACE ✌️
Jimmie
@John Haas sorry about the miss spelled Jimmie!
I'm glad Dale Jr stood up to Mike Davis about Jimmie doing what he felt like doing.
I doubt anyone looks at Petty or Pearson any differently because they raced beyond their prime. Their accomplishments in their prime still hold up.
Jimmie is coming back as probably a real cool boss and team mate hooray!!
Always great to see Jimmie on track anytime, a true racer at heart. Hopefully he still might do some Indy 500s in the future...
Amen…. Glad to see Jimmy do what ever .. when ever he wants.
I see you can't spell his name right
@@johnhaas2523 🤮
Jimmie Johnson has a legacy and it is his to do what he enjoys. He earned his future to do what he pleases. No one can take away his accomplishments. He is young and should enjoy his life. Go get them Jimmie.
So happy to see my guy Jimmie back in NASCAR!!! The Goat 🐐
Not even close to goat the greatest ever is and always will be Dale Earnhardt
Legacy Motor Club sounds like a bunch of oldtimers with their retro cars gathering on sandays 😄
How Jimmie races now will not affect how he raced in the past. He is still the greatest driver to ever do it in NASCAR
Bullshttt!!!!!
That's laughable.
Dale earnhardt is Nascars greatest ever not Jimmie
I cracked up when they started talking about what the team is called lmfao I couldn't agree more..."Head down there yonder, Legacy Motor Club be right there on ye left"
I hope he goes out there and has a blast
I think Mike is expecting JJ to come back stronger than ever, to be the way he was. Each venture Jimmy did, he gave his best, got a taste of what he wanted to do. I agree with Dale, his legacy will always be his.
I've been a Jimmie Johnson fan since I was a young kid, and to me, you can't tarnish a legacy just from going to a few races and having some fun, if anything that only adds to the character that is Jimmie Johnson, the man, who is essentially the new version of Mark Martin, who wants to keep going and going, despite him getting close and into his 50's. The only way Jimmie Johnson tarnishes his legacy, is if he does something that's not Jimmie Johnson, like purposely wreak someone for a caution or for the win, or constantly getting into fights, or something that Jimmie Johnson would never do. I very much look forward to cheering him and Kyle Larson on at the 500 and the rest of the races that Jimmie plans on racing!
He should come down here & have a go at Supercars. Love the show. Thanks for sharing 👍🏻👍🏻🙃🙃
If Jimmie had a walk off win/championship then I could see the "tainting" conversation. Not even a 48 fan, but I'm looking forward to seeing how his team runs.
Who better to shakedown a program than JJ. 7 time champion who saw it done the right way. Noah and Erik are going to gain so much, as well as the team in general.
Love Jimmie Johnson ❤️
Jimmie
@John Haas I know lol...stupid auto correct
Biggest thing against Jimmie going out and running is that he may show up and run like the Labontes did as they went to the end of their career. Both of those brothers are honest champions and there's a swath of people that know them only for propping up back markers and running in SRX.
As out the door as he was in his final year, chances are if he didn't miss the one race being down with the sickness he can show up in the playoffs for better or worse.
I love DALE JR 'S VIDEOS ! MAYBE HE IS RIGHT MAYBE JIMMY JOHNSON JUST CANNOT GET ENOUGH ! BABY THE MAN JUST LIKES TO RACE !
I see you can't spell his name right
Mark my words. If Jimmie makes the 500 and wins or even does really well. These part time plans are going to disappear so damn quickly. Jimmie has enough of a fire still left that if he has a chance at #8. He will 100% jump at it.
Hahaha
I think he knows he was close a few times his last year and with these cars anyone can win.
Hey Junior I'm happy that Jimmie Johnson is coming back he was my hero in the beginning since he started 2001 to retired and then I found him at any cards I think he was happier more with that car where he belongs because he'd that's what started his career and his championships and I'll take it was pretty hard for him driving those Indy cars I am so happy he's back he's my hero just like you
As a new fan who just started following NASCAR the year after JJ retired I can’t wait to see him back on the track in a stock car. I’m well aware of his status as one of 3 drivers with 6 championships and nothing can lessen his legacy. There are no expectations. Anything we get from here on out is just a bonus.
You mean 3 with 7 not 6
@@nascarandrc8296 ah yes. I stand corrected.
Jr has such a great insight on issues like this, his point seems 100% correct to me. I wasn't a JJ fan,but he is a class act, raced everyone clean, way more clean then most drivers do.regardless of the points system he won 5 cups in a row,FIVE.he took cups away from my driver Harvick, the same way Gordon took cups away from my all time favorite Dale Sr.hes not coming back to win championships.hes coming back to have fun.funny part is I hated Jeff Gordon, his and dales rivalry was awesome.but as he raced more and more, and when he put that 3 flag out of his window when he tied dale, that really changed my mind set.jimmie may of been a product of the points system, but nobody did it better then he did,him and Chad stomped the competition, and that's hard for me to admit
I love Jimmie is back for the same reason I can't wait to watch June Bug run Bristol night race Xfinity!! ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Jimmie is coming back to see if he has the potential in 2024 to do great and to buy a third charter ( to get the ultimate 8th championship). Yeah he might not be able to fufill it to 100% but he has nothing to lose.
Look at mark Martin he was a great grandfather winning races
Awesome to see Jimmie back but would love to see a part time cup series car from jr motorsports where dale and Jimmie run a couple races each in a season. No charter just build a cup car and run whenever works for you two.
Seriously Mike, Byron or Chastane, What is the matter with you? Two very good drivers.
With Mikes logic everytime Jr gets passed it taints his legacy
Side question - will new episodes be available on Peacock soon?
This is the Farewell tour for Jimmie. He’s coming back to have fun and to pass the torch the Next Generation.
Big ups to Jr and High Rock Vodka for slapping a sponsorship on Landon Huffman this year. 👍👍👍👍👍
Jr is spot on
Jimmie and Harvick are the same age, Harvick is still elite. All this shows the seasoned nascar fan is how much better Johnson’s equipment was than the entire field in that 15 stretch with lowes and Knaus
I will enjoy watching Jimmy , he may not be up front but wherever he is on the track he will be giving someone a driving lesson , enjoy yourself Jimmy ,we'll be pulling for a good finish for you.
Jimmie
@@lylecoglianese1645Because Jimmy Johnson is the coach’s name.
What Junior just said concerning the name change is my exact word's when I first heard it, well, without all the curse word's anyway 😂 They should have rebranded as "Legacy Motor Sport's" Even the abbreviation "LMS" just roll's off your tongue, smoother than a David Pearson pass at Darlington 😉
Blows my mind how much Mike is overthinking this. Good god.
NASCAR should be glad Jimmy Johnson’s coming back he’ll put thousands of people in the stands form is a good guy he’s a racer
The coach?
Jimmie
Actually attendance and ratings decreased during his championship run.
Love that at the end… those car numbers?
“Nooo”
If he stills want to race but at a reduced schedule, he needs to go asphalt winged sprint car racing at a smaller local series. Or do what Kenny Schrader did and go modified racing on asphalt. Both are lots of fun and still challenging.
Oh booohoo lets go Jimmie Johnson!!!!! He will be just fine. The guy just wants to race
Maybe NASCAR needs a limited schedule Seniors tour, like the PGA has. The fans would love it. I see Jimmie as a tourist. Oh, if he's in a position to win he will but I don't think it's at the top of his mind. NASCAR loves this and fans will love this. One more chance to see him, to get an autgraph and maybe buy some merchandise. It will help his team drivers for him to get the behind the wheel experience with the NexGen car, a feel that can only be acquired through running in a race because test driving the NexGen is very limited.
Im usually in agreement with 99% of what you guy's say. But, today i take exception to what Mike said , asking "why"is JJ coming back. Thanks Dale for setting him straight. Because He wants to is exactly right, period.
Honestly, Junior should become part owner of that team. Then they change the name to PD&J Racing. And then they do let other drivers run that seat at their favorite tracks. Jimmie, Junior, Jeff, Clint, etc. It would be awesome, and you KNOW there would be sponsors.
I am glad he's back he can do whatever he wants leave him alone
Part time or full time or anytime welcome back Jimmie we miss miss you.
It's all about fun. Johnson was under so much pressure like all the drivers are and now he's not.
It's him having fun!
MJ came back and wasn’t the same, but his legacy is intact and so is JJ’s
Now I'm fully expecting Rick to come back and say he'd have TOTALLY gone with the sharing the car deal. There would have been no disadvantage to it and the car would have had advertisers lining up to support the car..... I know Dale was injured around the time but that would have been a GREAT idea
Hey Rick, what do you have to say about it??? ;-)
I did sailing endurance racing throughout my life & miss it. Now I want to watch this in car racing. I wish NASCAR would do 2 24 hour races in a season w teams. Y’all have enough drivers, maybe do w the manufacturers as teams? The 3 NASCAR manufacturers w several teams each where drivers from teams work together w big and small teams? Somewhere fans can enjoy a week or 4 day event in summer? Or a rally race?
I always at least respected Johnson, being a Gordon fan, I didn't however like (from jealousy) how he kept winning championships. Lol. Than he tied Gordon, than he got five. And I was like... 🤬🤬🤬😆😆😆 And, I kind of kept into the back of my head "Gordon is still the better driver". 😆😆 And I was waiting for a race where them two could go toe to toe, possibly with worn out tires on their cars at one of the older, more aged track surfaces on the circuit, that would be the ideal situation to really see who is the better driver, racing for the win, just them two at the end....... Than, Atlanta 2011 came around, and those last 20 laps Gordon and Johnson were 1 and 2, and those last 20 or so laps were a thing of beauty. 😍😍 Probably one of the purest, most competitive moments we've had captured on a camera. Them 2 went at it, and we're just leaving the rest of the field. I think they really were waiting on that situation too. And, I think it's closer than a lot of people think. But, Gordon I feel like, a tiny bit more driving talent than Johnson. But, you can't take away those 7 championships, he won 5 of em in a row. 😳😳🧐🧐 🤷 No one is going to do that again. No matter the points system. I'm glad to see him coming back.
Jimmie will bring experience back to the sport. His limited racing will not hurt his legacy. I think it will bring more money to the sport.
He wants to race for fun. Not necessarily for wins. Like Jr said. He races late models, hasn't done great yet, but he's having fun.
Jimmie Johnson will kick ass he will make the playoffs
Richard Petty won his last race in 1984 but ran full time thru 1992 and no one ever worries about his legacy. Jimmie is fine, he is just having fun.
I think they should have made a play on their names with the rebrand..
Jimmy Richard racing?
Ricky Johnson racing?
Rich Jimmy Racing. Use the old RJ Reynolds logo font.
He’s a 7-time champ. He can do whatever the heck he wants to
ROWDY FAN FOR LIFE ❣️
I see both sides. All drivers including Jimmy can hang around as long as they want provided they are safe. From a fan perspective, it's hard to watch great sports stars that dominated not be in their prime and no longer dominate.
Why is Dale running late model races?
He loves racing & so does JJ
Jimmie Johnson is a Friggin Legend bro
Be cool if Legacy MC
Creates their own racing series with classic stock cars
I believe that jimmy is going to come back and surprise everyone
I couldn't agree with Junior more about Jimmie Johnson!!!!
Jimmy, Dale and Richard #7🏆
Jimmie
Jimmie might be on to something. More drivers splitting seasons could be a thing of the future and give some of these guys a break from racing. It could potentially give some of these drivers a time to re focus and be more competitive
If he never wins again so what you can't take anything away from him and I've always been a 24 fan and now a 9 but he is top 5 of all times
Agree for the love of god move the numbers back
Denny and Mike make valid points, but there is nothing that can taint Jimmie's legacy at this point.
Jimmy's the greatest of all time in my book I knew he wasn't going to do good in indycar it's just to different and I know he's not gonna win now I'm just enjoying seeing one of the greats out there on the track for the cool races
Nobody dogs on petty for his 10 year winless streak. He’s the king. JJs 83 wins and 7 titles don’t change. He’s still on Mount Rushmore.
Richard Petty got passed by the pace car in his last years but he still wanted to drive I just hope Jimmy doesn't get seriously injured doing this
I love that Jimmie is coming back. I was never a big fan, but the sumbitch could drive! As far as hurting his legacy, Richard Petty rode around in the pack for the last years of his career and it doesn't seemed to have hurt his legacy.
Realistically I don’t know how competitive he’ll be with that team with that being said he is at a huge disadvantage with it being his first year in that car while the competition has a year in it
Want to watch LeMond and Sebring and how do NASCAR fans watch these races? Will all the pre-race and all the events? Y’all want NASCAR intertwined but no easy way to find info. TY
This is about Jimmie, not anybody else. Not you nor me. In his defense, the struggle of his last few years was an overall downswing of performance at HMS more than anything else,I believe.
Kinda curious what Mike thinks of Richard Petty or Darrell Waltrip, or even Dale Jr. himself based on this logic.
Jimmie the way his cup career ended Wasn’t the way he wanted it to end he wants a Final push for greatness just one win Will make it good cause he ain’t won a Cup series race since 2017…

Jimmie might have some catching up to do, but with some of the people that won in this new created equal car last year Jimmie can definitely win. Then he will be able to communicate better with his drivers.
Jimmie.
Let me just say this... Richard Petty and his team(s) have gone through lots of ups, but mostly downs, since his 200th win.
At the end of the day, he's still the King. The results define your legacy. Sounds like Jimmie is not ready to stop and be in the hall yet haha.
Great Points Jr
If he runs well or runs bad, it won’t take away from those 7 championships
I don't think it's because he feels he has something to prove, like Jr. said, his last few years were a struggle anyways. He wanted a less demanding schedule, and something different but still loves racing either way
Amen Junior! That team should always be named Petty racing. Someone else can own it but it should have the name Petty on it.
JJ is the best. The crappy chevys in 2018, 2019 and 2020 were the problem. I mean really,, 3 years and Chevy only had 20 wins compared to over 40 each for Ford and Toyota.
I'm glad Jimmie is back. But, I think that if he wins, he should have the right to compete in the Chase. NASCAR makes exceptions for different reasons. I think they should give him a shot at an 8th championship if he can win.
Legacy Motorsport sounds like the name of a gentlemen’s club
It's legacy motor club
Jimmie Johnson racing back stock cars is good again and part owner of Legacy Motor Club. Don't forget Johnson is racing LeMans in the Garage 56 Camaro. Its not gonna taint his legacy.
