This guy is a major talent and I like the fact that he "hides" behind the disguise because it puts that much more emphasis on his playing ability. The guy just has raw, flawless energy.
the guitar tone , the sustain , the drumming, the harmonic's and melodic, the wah control, the feeling, DJ's scraches , the bends - all is perfect here
this is a perfect example of a true versatile guitarist, sure he can play fast but he can also play a few choice notes that make your heart melt, very well rounded guitarist
This really is the best video I think of Bucket and playing one of his most haunting songs. The fact that he stayed restrained and stayed in the mellow while Brain was blowing everyone away is sheer awe inspiring.
This and the Straws Pulled at Random solo never cease to send a shiver up my spine. They're so simple, yet they say so much, and it's a thing of beauty
this song has so much feel to it...u can just feel the music flow through u when u hear this...u can watch alot of buckethead videos and hes never been so into a song like this one....amazing...my favorite guitarist of all time and my hero
I listen this live on a daily basis, even 2 or 3 times per day and I touches me deeply any time like it was the first. Maybe the most emotional and awesome version of this masterpiece. And yeah... Brain rocks! :)
+tGhIeNrGmEiRte Is there a name for the video I can look up? I'm on a tablet and I do not know if there is a copy and paste feature to use the video code in the RUclips search bar. I do appreciate the effort to guide me through a new Buckethead experience though, I'm sure the vid is awesome :)
Dude, I have gone through so many different versions of this to see if Buckethead could possibly soar any higher in emotion, and there simply are none. This video right here conveys so much emotion that words cannot describe it, and no other version can come close. This says so much without saying anything at all, and thats the beauty of it...if I could only have a fraction of his power...
This is the song that inspired me to write my own song "Ebb & Flow" :) What we are actually seeing here is Buckethead ending all wars and famine ,with his guitar he shall rule and feed the people! No need to vote, buckethead always wins!
Buckethead's mask is his "guitar face" ...totally stoic. It's unusual to watch such lyrical and emotive playing knowing that there's some major gutiar face going on under the mask... his movement says it all... he's feeling it BIG TIME. Great clip.
agh i love it that he has never showed his face, never will, AND still can show soooo much strong emotion without a facial expression or barely any head movement....THIS...GUY....OWNS....period.
I've never heard him play it this well after this moment in time. I think part of it is having Brain (No offence to Pinchface, but Buckethead and Brain work a lot better), but I also think Buckethead's style has changed so much over the years. Now, he'll play something this incredible, but interrupt it quite frequently with some out-of-place shred. But this is incredible. And I know, I'm probably going to get hated for hating on his shred, but for stuff like this, the less shred the better.
Totally agree, Buckethead is best with some "supervision," be it Bill Laswell or Claypool or even just Brain. On his own he makes some unfortunate choices.
+aicMadSeason you mean "Transmutation V, Ascent (Zurich, 2005) - Praxis" ? It's basically animal behavior. All animal behavior live versions are out of this world.
"Every reason I became Buckethead and am Buckethead has to do with the way I live. It's not because I thought it would be successful. I never use anything that isn't part of what I really loved as a child or love right now." -Buckethead
Man... This is so good. Not only am I in awe of BH's beautiful playing, but check out Brain on the drums. That guy has AMAZING chops, and they complement each other so well... BH and Brain FOREVA!
Damn Buckethead was really feelin it from Brain this time. From the timing of his notes to when he'd open and close his wah pedals around the drum fills. Really great performance.
To me, the thing about Buckethead is that he has put out so much music spanning all genres that that is what impresses me the most. He's got some funk stank, metal shredding, acoustic shards, et al. Dude thoroughly rocks!!
I started playing guitar when I was 10 years old because I wanted to be like buckethead. Im 19 now and I owe all of my guitar skills because of buckethead. I even got the chance to see him play at a local venue. Thanks B.H.
3:15 - 3:21 = BRAIN WTF DID YOU HAVE FOR BREAKFAST? You're a sick, sick man. BEASTLY with a drumstick. And right after that, Buckethead smoothens things up with his serenading slow-mo solo (i'm still amazed he didn't resort to shredding with the sick drumming and all, it really made this version special in a good way)
That old rocket roller Ibanez was singing a sweet tune. My God. What a beautiful melody... The hall reverb cranked up sounds amazing..... The delay was perfect too.
This video proves once and for all that emotion displayed through musicianship has all its basis in technique and knowledge of theory. He didn't have crazy body language, or a solemn image, just flawless technique.
Buckethead is buckethead. Nothing will ever change about his playing and his music. He will always be this amazing with or without his mask on. I watched those classx videos and i was happy because it shows bucket is a human like everyone else... My .02 cents.
I would just love to see the expressions on his face while he's playing. Like how Jimi, B.B, Clapton, Santana, even my Dad. You can tell he's getting into it that spiritual "ZONE",
This song made me write Ebb & Flow my favorite original. I still come here even after well over a year and watch this again and again. I dig it.......alot
I've never really heard, or rather payed attention to, the bass in this version of the song. But man, it adds just as much as the guitar. Brilliant song for each performer playing. Brain brings in the energy and power, Buckethead brings in the emotion, and the bassist (I assume Bootsy but it might not be) brings in the atmosphere. Perfection.
How many songs have you heard Buckethead play, three? His style ranges from simple to complex, fast to solo, melodic to insane. He is so talented because he can play in so many ways so well.
Truly an expressive piece. I don't think writing something like this can come naturally to everyone without MONTHS AND MONTHS of practice. To me, Buckethead is truly a master musician, and people like paulshaffer are unfortunately the souls who remain close-minded to their own disadvantage.
This just blew my mind way better than album version. Loving the new album too man its Bucket at his best again. Hope that he will come to europe one day i from holland if he doesn't come in 2 years it doesn't matter i will come to America to see him live man, got to see him, best guitarist there is in my opinion. Greetings from big Buckethead fan From Holland!!!!
its 3 30 am i worked all day and i just smoked a blunt and now im listening to this and i cant tell if im awake or asleep and its the first time i ever heard this song but it feels as if this song has been the soundtrack to my dreams for years
If anything, hiding his face and still being able to convey emotion is the most genuine display emotion out there. The face is one of the best ways of deceiving others about your emotions. How many people do you know that have a smile on their face to show that they are happy, when they are really suffering inside? So a person's face should be the last thing you use to determine someones emotion in what they do.
If only the album version had the same sounding guitar and the same drums. This is just fantastic, having Brain and Buckethead in one song. It doesn't get much better.
This guy is a major talent and I like the fact that he "hides" behind the disguise because it puts that much more emphasis on his playing ability. The guy just has raw, flawless energy.
Found this 10 years ago now, still makes me feel amazing ! The music of my dreams
t3x same!
t3x same here, I don’t mind the quality of the sound
I havent found a version of the song with playing as beautiful as this. Clearly some improvisation going on. And the drumming.. its nuts. Just nuts.
Words can't describe how much Buckets' music have affected my life.
the guitar tone , the sustain , the drumming, the harmonic's and melodic, the wah control, the feeling, DJ's scraches , the bends - all is perfect here
this is a perfect example of a true versatile guitarist, sure he can play fast but he can also play a few choice notes that make your heart melt, very well rounded guitarist
bRAIN IS A BEAST,A DERANGED AWESOME BEAST ON THOSE SKINS. Bucket is one of the best most versatile guitarists around. D
He plays with more feeling in each note than most bands careers
its 2019 and I still get goosebumps from this performance
2020 And counting..
2021 bro. Keep it coming!
2022. Still a legendary performance to revisit
2023!
i just got back here after the new Buckethead music video , holy shit this is my favorite buckethead live video
This really is the best video I think of Bucket and playing one of his most haunting songs. The fact that he stayed restrained and stayed in the mellow while Brain was blowing everyone away is sheer awe inspiring.
Legend has it, this is what you hear when you ascend into heaven
JoshL117 I hope so.....
All I can imagine now is floating through the clouds seeing god shredding licks with one foot on the amp
On the way to hell you listen to Judas Priest and they got hookers and blackjack
This and the Straws Pulled at Random solo never cease to send a shiver up my spine. They're so simple, yet they say so much, and it's a thing of beauty
Straws pulled at random is an unreal song
a buckethead tapping solo over a meshuggah song would go so hard
this song has so much feel to it...u can just feel the music flow through u when u hear this...u can watch alot of buckethead videos and hes never been so into a song like this one....amazing...my favorite guitarist of all time and my hero
best buckethead solo in my head forever
I listen this live on a daily basis, even 2 or 3 times per day and I touches me deeply any time like it was the first.
Maybe the most emotional and awesome version of this masterpiece. And yeah... Brain rocks! :)
Somebody give Brain a fucking cookie for this! What a combo with him and Bucket
just buy the secret recipe DVD, that way not only will you have it forever but, you'll contribute to the bucketman
It would be nice to see and hear this video cleaned up with better quality.....
Video is private :'(
Natter Net posted a full version with great quality :)
The king.
You cant get two amazing talents showing more emotion than that, Brain is just laying it all out with him.
Oh my god... I cant stop watching on that drummer.. Hypnotizing me.
whoever recorded this is a goddamn hero.
There is now a full version of it!
It's called: RARE!! Buckethead - Interworld and the New Innocence Live! (Full Version, 9/20/98)
I recorded this and sent the first digital copy to Natternet
Bucket is really a tremendous player and the shredding is only one facet of it. He has a great sense of melody and this is a great example.
I'm a huge Buckethead fan but Brian Mantia absolutely demolished this song on the drums!
+Tuco Ramirez haha why u say that like its a fact? That's your opinion bro
Brent Parsons guy is killer drummer and with bucket
Peanut butter and jelly. Bucket and Brain.
I remember when Brain joined Primus and I was mad at dude. Now he's my favorite drummer. Not in Primus though. Herb is in Primus.
Amazing !! The 77 people people who dislike this are possibly deaf or have no soul
This is before humans walked the earth.
Ohh how I wish the sound quality was better! And that it was on spotify :) THis is pure greatness!
This is the song that inspired me to write my own song "Ebb & Flow" :)
What we are actually seeing here is Buckethead ending all wars and famine ,with his guitar he shall rule and feed the people!
No need to vote, buckethead always wins!
I did not realize the drummer for Praxis was that good. I guess he holds back most of the time.
Young buckethead. So awesome
My eyes actually water up watching this, it's so outstanding. There couldn't be anymore feeling coming from a guitarist..........
Heartfelt.
Wow that is the most beautiful sound on one of the most beautiful guitars...
Totally speechless..
Been watching this for over 10 years... FINALLY, someone uploaded the full version here:
ruclips.net/video/jfMGJXElUvE/видео.html
Enjoy!
this drummer needs some serious credit too, both are just amazing
Drummer taking it easy
Buckethead's mask is his "guitar face" ...totally stoic. It's unusual to watch such lyrical and emotive playing knowing that there's some major gutiar face going on under the mask... his movement says it all... he's feeling it BIG TIME. Great clip.
His fingers are so long , he’s making scales up as he goes along
Actually some of the scales he uses are very standard, although nothing wrong with that per se.
That drummer is a fucking BEAST
Without Brain you would fall asleep. he makes the song great.
agh i love it that he has never showed his face, never will, AND still can show soooo much strong emotion without a facial expression or barely any head movement....THIS...GUY....OWNS....period.

never before have i watched a buckethead video and diverted my attention to the drummer... i've never seen such chemistry between two musicians
If the quality was any better, there would be 803 538 blissfully dead people, and counting.
Everything is perfect in this video. Even if it's not high quality, it's beautiful and raw. The DJ is a great addition to this too.
1:57 Brain starts fuming
im overwhelmed with so many things at once when i listen to this
quite possibly the most amazing and meaningful thing i have ever heard in my life
Does anyone know where the full version of this song is??!! I've seen it on youtube, it's like 7 minutes long and its amazing!!
Live version on Secret Recipe.
my channel...
It's on spotify if you just want the song.
I think I've watched this literally 1,500 + times.... its just gets better and better.
What's the praxis song that has the word 'ascending' in it's name. It's one of the most chillest songs I've heard but I can't find it!
+aicMadSeason you mean "Transmutation V, Ascent (Zurich, 2005) - Praxis" ?
It's basically animal behavior. All animal behavior live versions are out of this world.
That's the song! Thank you so much! I heard it on pandora and forgot to give it a thumbs up and have been searching for it non stop
aicMadSeason hahaha you're welcome :)
I love old buckethead live videos
Seriously who's the fucking drummer?
Brian "Brain" Mantia
I know! He's outrageous
+alan everett New meme.
"Every reason I became Buckethead and am Buckethead has to do with the way I live.
It's not because I thought it would be successful. I never use anything that isn't
part of what I really loved as a child or love right now." -Buckethead
I have never been somoist in my fucking life.
That's hot.
Man... This is so good.
Not only am I in awe of BH's beautiful playing, but check out Brain on the drums. That guy has AMAZING chops, and they complement each other so well...
BH and Brain FOREVA!
this gets me every time I watch this: for being such an amazing shredder, his hand moves so slow, yet the sound it so beautiful

Buckethead is amazing as always, but that has got to be the most mesmerizing drummer I have seen played live.
3:15 - 3:21 = BRAIN WTF DID YOU HAVE FOR BREAKFAST? You're a sick, sick man. BEASTLY with a drumstick.

awesome solo.. buckethead is feeling
fantastic and cosmic playing here, and very soulful, expressive

such emotions from buckethead. amazing. even without seeing his face, you can tell just by the emotion he puts into playing it. brain rocks too btw
ive watched this over a million times its still amazing
I just love this performance!! Love the guitar, love the song, love Brian Brain Mantia...
Cant just stop listening to this masterpiece!!!

Perfection.
It might be Bill Laswell?
18 years later and still amazing
not only is buckethead wailing but the drummer is smokin away too... excellent!
I've watched both over and over. brilliant.
who says buckethead is just a shredder should watch this video...he's got such great feel, tone and soul
This is one of the best Buckethead vids on youtube.
Omg, that is the best description
I always thought of it like that, but never knew how to word
FARKHIN GOOD ONE!!!
Brain. He's a monster. One of the best in the business.
How many songs have you heard Buckethead play, three? His style ranges from simple to complex, fast to solo, melodic to insane. He is so talented because he can play in so many ways so well.
definitely - i've been looking for a drummer like that for my band like... forever
Truly an expressive piece. I don't think writing something like this can come naturally to everyone without MONTHS AND MONTHS of practice. To me, Buckethead is truly a master musician, and people like paulshaffer are unfortunately the souls who remain close-minded to their own disadvantage.

wow, that was awesome. seemed like there was a lot of feeling put into it. Stuck it in my favs.
A Masterpiece !!!
I can't stop watch this!
Buckethead and Brain are awesome
Bucket Head sound sooooooo good. Gah, I love the way he plays, and it baffles scientists.
the evolution of this song is just fun to follow, love the 2019 version :D
that was so good i diddnt notice that the quality sucked till two minutes in
I feel life running through my veins when I hear Buckethead playing
oh if only the sound quality was better.... this is amazing
Amazing!
Only watching Brain makes me smile and cry at the same time. What a drummer.
The drummer is a goddamn beast! Him and the Bucket together are like fire and gunpowder.
He is, hands down, the greatest guitarist to ever draw breath.
All hail Buckethead.
If only the album version had the same sounding guitar and the same drums. This is just fantastic, having Brain and Buckethead in one song. It doesn't get much better.
all of this is just amazing
Buckethead can rip through the fabric of space and time itself with this piece.
omg i love this video so much ty for posing it
