Discernment is a gift from God. It can be and usually is downloaded gradually over time. Those who misunderstand and reject the Calvinist grasp of the gospel may, in time, grow in discernment and have their faith strengthened by the true Biblical doctrines of grace.

You want to settle this for yourself once for all in your mind, read Scripture with prayer but also listen to those wiser than yourself.
The Rapture Question by John Wolvoord is a very good book on the Rapture and goes through all views using Scripture for each of them.
That book along with my personal studies has set pre-trib firmly as the Biblical doctrine that I ascribe to personally.
Take care and God Bless all to know and love Him but not as Arianism believes nor as strict Calvinists believe.
Only the LORD is sovereign and who can know His Mind. He can make some for mercy and some for wrath and not infringe on anyone's freewill.
    It's actually quite simple really:
Imagine a door and on it's threshold is written, "Come unto Me".
Now anyone can choose to enter or ignore it's call.
Those who choose to enter however see this written above the threshold behind them, "Welcome I chose you before the creation of all things the very foundations before anything was I AM".
God Bless and I pray everyone is one of the elect even though the LORD tells me that is not for me to decide...

They’re very clear if you just read them that it’s not a capacity for man to choose God. It’s actually clear that God is the one taking actions upon sinners and saves them by his grace. There is no choosing to be a “chosen out one” just like there is no choosing to be “born again”. Just as you cannot choose to be born the first time of Adam.

@@tommycapps9903 1My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate before the Father-Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. 2He Himself is the atoning sacrificea for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.
3By this we can be sure that we have come to know Him: if we keep His commandments. 4If anyone says, “I know Him,” but does not keep His commandments, he is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5But if anyone keeps His word, the love of God has been truly perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him: 6Whoever claims to abide in Him must walk as Jesus walked.
I love this passage. JESUS, our advocate who sacrificed Himself for even the sin brought up in verse one. Absolute assurance, especially when we realize God already promised this and this scripture, and many others, are simply reminders of His promise.
25I will also sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. I will cleanse you from all your impurities and all your idols. 26I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. 27And I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes and to carefully observe My ordinances.
So when I read in 1 John 2 verse 3 that I can know because I keep His commands that it is by His doing.
These verses you brought up would more prove eternal security, but it may help.
With this security, based on the work of God, I can logically conclude something. If God says that He does these things to save the sinner, how could such a powerful forgiveness be offered for someone who ends up in hell?
Anyway, this passage surely doesn't state, or even insinuate, that someone will suffer for eternity for sins Christ died for.

A bible believer teacher doesn't have to be under a group of elders to understand scripture. One does not need to be a theologian to be able to teach the living word of God.
A theologian, however, can become so wrapped up in the criticism of what he allegedly believes so that they seem to preach a dry and dead message leading people to wonder if they can ever trust God's word. Such is my opinion after listening to much of James White.
Calvinism is a dead teaching named after a dead man who may not even have been saved for all we know.

@Shaquille O'atmeal Hunt was making a "straw-man" argument. Dave Hunt falsely thought that Calvinists believe "man can't have a will". That's the point. He didn't know what he was talking about. Indeed, in Reformed theology man DOES have a will. Man's will is corrupted, bent toward all manner of sin, and is a follower of the wicked one, a spiritual child of the adversary (Satan).
Go eat some oatmeal, add a little pure maple syrup to it, and read the chapter in both the Westminster and 1689 London Baptist Confessions (both of which are Reformed/Calvinist confessions) "Of Free Will," and you will see that Dave Hunt's assertion was indeed a straw-man (which is a logical fallacy in argumentation, of course).

Man’s will…is in bondage….only free to fulfill his sinful desires…it is not free… to rise above…its enmity…or…fleshly sinful desires to embrace Christ! The Bible is clear…”The natural man (unsaved man) receiveth not the things of the Spirit…neither…”CAN” ( Can is an action word which means it’s impossible) he know them!” 1 Cor. 2:14 Why? Because the things of the Spirit or God are foolishness to him! Only God…by the quickening power of the Spirit…can change the heart of man…freeing him up to receive… the grace and mercy and faith….necessary to believe! Psalm 110:3….”Thy people shall be willing in the day of “THY” power!” Gods people… by His power… will follow and serve Him! God is sovereign…His will and purposes will all be accomplished!

Dr White I am certainly no one to give u advice on how to teach. So I won’t. My comment is simply this: The man’s testimony (from Louisiana) of coming to the truth from scripture is very powerful to those who are saved but have been seeking how to glorify God by believing in election. He spoke about things the same way I have come to see them. I didn’t at first see how God could be glorified by me believing in election nor did I have a freedom and rest in my salvation until I realized this is God’s plan not mine. Men’s plans always fail. Thanks be to God I can’t mess this up.
That’s man’s testimony would be a good tool.

Two sides one truth. James says we are not justified by faith only. Ephesians says we are saved by Grace with no works. We have to have enough understanding on how to bring the two sides to fit. But somethings are beyond our understanding. Bible supports God does the work but He does admonish all men to repent and be saved. Maybe something in Greek clears this up.

It's not confusing. We are saved by faith only. However, genuine saving faith in Christ is only possible when we are born again. Now, a person who is transformed by God will produce fruit, eventually. This is the work that we need in order to be saved, i.e., it's the result of salvation and not the cause.
However, somebody who says it's saved but does not demonstrate repentance over sins, improvements over his past life, and so on are fruitless and this false Christians.

But I don't think that his exchange with James or his terrible book "What Love is This?" should be taken as dishonest. I simply think that, as with so many Arminian folks, he just didn't understand reformed theology. And therein lies the greatest problem with his attacks on the doctrine. He didn't understand it and yet he sought to counteract it. When you don't understand a particular position, you'll likely be attacking the wrong thing. The moral of the story is that all of us need to inform ourselves as to what exactly it is that we're disputing. Know what your opponent really believes, not what someone said about what someone else believes. In that way, you won't find yourself having to defend yourself against charges of being dishonest.

You willfully get on the internet to libel and slander a man who (whether you agree with his position or not) has dedicated his life to the study and preaching of God’s Word. God does actually see what you post on the internet. Repent.
Dr. White has gone as far as saying that there will probably be “Catholics” who are in heaven because, even though they nominally identified with Rome, their hearts were truly changed by God. Is that him thinking “he’s the only chosen ones”?
The man has multiple degrees in this area, is a professor of these subjects, and has defended God’s Word against the most ardent objectors. Is that “self-appointed” expertise? To say such a thing only proves that the dearth of expertise lays squarely at your feet.
If he’s an “enemy of the Gospel”, then you would have to say the same about every translator of the KJV. Pastors in the 1600s were required to have taken part in debates sometimes lasting up to 3 days in order to be qualified for ministry.
Then, you pretend to know about his personal life/past. What divine revelation gives you such an insight?
If you’re truly a brother in Christ, repent for your error, delete your comment, and pray that God will have mercy and continue to sanctify your heart and mind.

Dr White makes no sense at all, whilst trying to convince listeners that Dr Hunt is not making sense.
Dr White claims that he is Calvinist - not due to Calvin or Augustine or anyone else - but because the scriptures clearly teach that Calvinism is right. But he also said beforehand that David Hunt, as he himself admitted, is unaware and ignorant of the sophistication of The Reformed tradition and their particular set of beliefs, regarding scripture.
What he is, in essence, saying is that the Gospel requires a high degree of intellectual understanding and scholarly appreciation of the Reformed position to be understood and appreciated, let alone followed. Or else he is saying that Calvinism and the Reformed position departs from the simple Gospel message by a process of disassociation.
I think we know that God calls everyone to spread the good news. Therefore the Gospel is very easy to understand and, according to Calvinists, actually requires no understanding at all considering that God has predetermined all who will believe in the first place. Theology is meant to present the Gospel as it truly is and yet, by Dr White's own admission, Calvinism does nothing of the sort.
Calvinism, I am rapidly appreciating, is more an art-form than an exercise in intellectual reasoning. It is designed to make atheism seem like biblicism and Christianity by the clever use of verbal gymastics to make a silk purse from a sow's ear in order to convince others that they have an understanding of the Gospel and sovereignty of God which they don't believe in and that they have a handle on God's favour that no-one else does or can appreciate by implying that those who aren't Calvinist aren't elect either. So they are veering into gnosticism too: let those who understand the Reformed position have ears to hear and eyes to see. Clearly Dr Hunt is not one of the elect.
The problem is this: Individual Calvinists also don't know they are truly elect even if they believe there is an elect. Something pointed out by numerous anti-Calvinist commentators (some ex-Calvinist) because the ordus salutis - based on regeneration before faith - does not allow them to have assurance of their salvation. Something puritans grappled - some even committing suicide over (very strangely) as did famous Calvinist RC Sproul himself who admitted that he had no idea where he was going to end up after death.
If that is good news, I should like to know what the bad news looks like.
