  • Meet Daniel Kuropatko, who works at Fabtech Precision Sheet Metal in Spokane Valley, Washington. Daniel shares his inspiring journey of discovering a passion for machining and design through the AJAC apprenticeship program.
Initially, Daniel had no interest in AJAC, as his primary goal in school was to become an engineer, a common choice among his peers. However, his perspective changed when he enrolled in an advanced manufacturing class, where he found immense joy in machining, designing, and problem-solving. When AJAC returned to his school, Daniel eagerly signed up and has never looked back.
Daniel's ultimate goal is to become a journeyman machinist, and AJAC's apprenticeship provides the perfect pathway. The program allows him to take one class a week while working, enabling him to gain valuable education and earn an income simultaneously.
A typical day for Daniel at Fabtech involves warming up machines, operating them, or countersinking parts. His role varies depending on the day's needs, and he often assists in different sections. Many of his coworkers express envy over the opportunities he has, wishing they had similar chances when they were in high school. Daniel feels incredibly fortunate to pursue what he loves while receiving an education.
Daniel encourages anyone with even the slightest interest in machining, or those unsure of their career path, to explore an apprenticeship with AJAC. You might discover a passion you never knew existed or find new excitement in areas you hadn't considered before.
