Hi Jon and Nath, The 2 new rear light clusters are a marked improvement, the small rectangular white coloured fitting is not a relay its a resistor. The old style bulbs will have a higher amperage than the modern LED version that you have just installed. The vehicle ECU would detect that difference in amps and cause the orange triangle to illuminate permanently on the dash warning of a light bulb failure. The resistor installed in the rear lights decreases the flow of electric current in the circuit equlivent to that of the original bulb, which prevents the warning triangle on the dash illuminating. If you measured the current and volts at the bulb, and also on the new light fitting then you could mathematically subtract one value from the other, then using Ohms law you could then calculate the resistance value and install the resistor in the circuit, its most definately not above your pay grades lol....... Best regards to you both Take care, Stefano (UK)
😂 so far above our grade, the positive is the extra "brightness" there is more lit surface area and the LED is a crisper light, so our safety concerns are cleared
@@DrivenMadShow Hi Jon..... Thats good news about the rear lights, im looking forward to watching the next installment..... Best regards to you and Nath, Stefano
Positive is they are much larger / more noticeable than before - our Tcross annoys me as the indicators and brake light areas are so small, think they are dangerous - I followed Mrs M in it the other day , bit of sun and the brake light disappears - these are way better and at night are awesome - fronts yet to be done, not sure on his nibs choice myself, lets see when on.
Sadly we are swapping ours out - the fronts have delaminated and the rears failed the test here - others (paid for) never arrived ( tip do not buy from Fabio Abarth in Italy !!)
@drivenmad The car looks completely different. I bought the lights from Fabio over a month ago. He told me he would send them but nothing has arrived yet. Did you wait a long time?
😭 sorry, we need to change this video - we have a later one explaining how poor they are and he never sent us the running lights, bloke is a common thief - we made the mistake of not using a credit card, so no comeback
@@DrivenMadShow I received my order today from Fabio. It came well packaged and works perfectly. At one point I actually thought I would never receive the order, because he asked for full payment when I placed the order. Fabio always answered all the questions I asked about when the delivery would be. The problem is that he says “I’ll send it next week” and you arrive the next week and you don’t receive anything. However, you ask again and he says “next week”…. My order took a month. I think Fabio must have a lot of orders and he doesn’t have the capacity to manage them properly. But honestly, I recommend that he didn’t fail me in the end. You need to be very patient and put pressure on him so he doesn’t forget.
Great job! One question: is it legal in the EU? I mean the old style rear lights had reflectors and these don't, the series 4 bumper has reflectors, so my thinking is that to be road legal you would need to change the rear bumper as well.
You are spot on - the lights are OK as OEM, here in Portugal they are very hot all these things, we have a but, ours is an import, so they let things slide - but our test is due soon, so lete see !
No, they were also appallingly made / bodged (Italian bloke called Fabio on Facebook sells them modified etc, avoid like the plague) thats why in a few videos on, they are removed. :(
Yes - the chap we got ours from askes you the year etc and makes to order, so it's just plug them in :) - he modifies OEM lights to fit the none LED 500" or Abarths
As they have LED parts, they need a resistor or you will have a blown bulb waning all the time - you can purchase them already modified, but ours came from Fabio Fabio Abarth on facebook, he supplied rubbish, so best avoided.
These are OEM lights, just converted to make our old Abarth run LED, so all lights are here as before, we just did not do a very good job and show it, sorry :( ...... (the dark tint is stock on the 500x (sport I think) and some other models)
I would say 99.99 % he will (good old brexit tax to pay will hurt :( give him a message on facebook, he is very fast to reply ( for an Italian 🤣 ) unless he is munching a Pizza !!
@@allanjohnston5384 we did all the lights as a job lot, 1600 euros - I am sure the fronts were 900 on their own, then the running lights were a fair bit, the rears were the cheapest, about 350 - 400 ish as a guestimate - not cheap stuff !
I just bought a black abarth 2015 only to realise it’s not a lci model a few days after. I wanted to get the rear lights changed but do I need to change the bumper or do I just need a 4 pin connector?
We bought from a chap called Fabio Fabio on Facebook, the rears were not professionally smoked, he just sprayed with a can, it came off - the running lights we paid for did not work, he just ignored us - the fronts leaked, so the carbon wrap came off and the lights failed, so our advice is buy from the likes of Abarth Tuning, not an Italian crook on facebook 😭
It is all OEM, so fog & reverse all present and correct ..they are standard 500 current model lights 👍 just tinkered to fit the previous model (the 500x sport has the tinted jobbys from factory)
We paid 1600 for rears, front daytime & headlights - daytime faulty, still waiting for replacements ( 3 months ) headlights; the film is coming off and rears; the smoke finish is disappearing - keep you money and find from someone else !
I mean, LED lights go on and off pretty quickly. incandescant bulbs are slower because they glow. These lights always have looked like regular bulbs to me and not LED. @@DrivenMadShow I don't have an abarth, I have a Twinair S&S

Water ingress did that 🤣 - odd they had a resistor in and they failed the IMT roadworthy test for being LED ? (before we lobbed them in the bin), but sure you know best
What a difference! Great improvement.
We are working our way to the front ... for added excitement .. well for us 😂

Thanks for the nice video; how did you solve the white reverse light? And what about the reflectors that the car need by law?
Reverse is fine, tink has no effect of the brightness - better then the old lights if truth be told - reflectors, mmmm
Looks fab, a great improvement. As you pointed out Jon, the high level brake light definitely needs a tint now!

Retro 👍🏻😂
Not just you - the old are back on (the Fabio Fabio sourced new ones were cheap knock of tat as well )

What's the price for it!? Thanks
Too much, spray just disappeared, were sold as smoked material, cleaver, Fabio Fabio just sprayed them with a can of tint - rip off

Yes 👍 should be no issue, confirm your vehicle details and no problems
They don't look LED's to me, they have the dimming of regular bulbs?
The resistors and conversion for none trigger bulb failure in our year Abarth must be fake then 😂 0.58 perhaps listen ?
