It has been cold here also in Mich, had 6" of snow this week. What does the bushing do? Thanks

The bushing meters gas needed to operate the action. too much gas causes parts to slam. It is about to snow here.

Yes, the part can be held in a v block on its end in the grinder.

Yes, the dials are direct reading, I tend to mumble about actual depth of cut.
