We played at Haldern Pop Festival last summer, see us perform Sommarfågel there! Hannes Knutsson came along and filmed both the song and behind the scenes footage. Hannes is the filmmaker who also made the Marble Machine Video and i got the chance to thank him on stage which made the audience shout Hannes! Hannes! Hannes! the tempo is about quarter note---121 bpm
@@alanakimitsu1176 I've got it clocked in at around 185bpm on quarter notes... a hair faster than 60bpm on the bars... you could almost set a clock to it :P
@Minecraft Platinum Fireworks It's always sounded more like 12/8 to me, but I might be hearing it wrong...
Edit: actually, certain sections do sound like 3/4.
Its syncopic rythm and irregular melody stream would make Bach cringe, but Martin got it working, at least for me (and others like you obviously)😂❤

When you recorded Visa från Utanmyra Christoffer mentioned how you could sit for hours to decide exactly which sound to use and what sound fits best with the song. I think the segment at 12:00-12:50 really shows this level of perfection; every layer occupies its own space and adds to the sound without taking over or drowning anything else, majestically filling up this spectrum of sound in perfect clarity. This is why I love Wintergatan so much, every sound has a purpose and a reason for being there. Someone might say using 11 different instruments (and playing them live) in a 14 minute song is just a gimmick, but they couldn't be more wrong. It's not a gimmick, it's sonic perfection.
When its your turn for the BIG
I include the very next section where Martin gets the audience to hold the rhythm, and then folds it back into the reprise as part of this. No it's not perfect (it's a big audience) but it's extremely poignant when you consider everything that's happened in the last three years. Good stuff and this is what music is about, for me.
