Never thought I'd hear a 15 minute song that begins with a music box and ends with nuclear bomb blasts. Bravo!
gee spoilers
Taylor Macdonald
pribably shoulda watched before looking in the comments section
I never thought I'd listen to a 15 minute song on repeat. That ending is just epic. Definitely one of my favorites on the album.
@@groverreediii6487 It feels like 3 or 4 songs honestly, that's what makes it really a great piece of music.
I found myself headbanging to a keyboard solo... I had keyboard lessons for three years and never knew you could make one sound like that.
wintergatan is one of the things i look forward to every wednesday
SorryICan'tComeUpWithAGoodUN Same
me too
SorryICan'tComeUpWithAGoodUN Thursday for me
SAME HERE
Same
her baby must be very happy :D
floating weightless in the womb to such an unique muisc!
I've seen your comment many times over the last 2years and for some reason I remember it every time I think of Wintergatan, makes me smile
@@RehabProjectSRCB epic
I keep going back to click the like button only to realize I already did.
relateable
And now I can't like this comment anymore either :/
At every video, yes
Make Build Modify Where do you go to the click to realize you did
so true, so i unlike it and like it again
In my opinion it is one of the best versions of "Paradis"
to save your time, heres the best part -> 0:00 - 14:17
You mean 14:18
It mean no skip the time from start to the end this song so nice and powerful hahaha
YYYYEEEESSSS!!!!!!!!!!
Damn right. A masterpiece from the beginning till the end.
Agreed!
Marcus' facial expressions during the theremin solo is worth its weight in gold: totally concentrated - oh boy, I guess I look too focused right now - heh, I probably look like an idiot - laughs.
He did a great job - theremin is very difficult. Awesome Marcus!
Aye, that's true and worth being mentioned!
came here from your comment on the workshop vid. Not disappointed at all.
Yes he is awesome. For me as a bass player, this looks like twohanded playing a fretless bass with two three-dimensional invisible fingerboards. It's definitely worth watching and listening to, because it's not very often, that you get the chance to experience something like this...
And he nailed it very well, the pitch is too damn stable
That's the most controlled Theremin playing ever 😮
Paradis is one of my favourite pieces of music ever made. It's such a unique song, so full of emotion, and the way it builds and releases tension is masterful! This performance really does the music justice, absolutely phenomenal in every way! I really hope Wintergatan comes to Australia when that world tour eventually happens...
That harp-guitar thing looks sick, where do you even get one of those?! What even IS THAT?!
Also shoutout to that drummer for being great at the theremin, that is a very hard thing to do and he was amazing on it
He made that instrument I'm pretty sure! With you though hope they tour Australia!!
That would be an autoharp :)
Beautifully said 👏👏
A Gesamtkunstwerk
glad to see how the drummer gets better at the theremin every time they perform this song.
And in one version, Marcus plays it and then Evelina steps in and picks up right in the middle while Marcus goes back to his drums. These guys are incredibly versatile. Awesomeness.
The riffs got heavy AF in the end. Love it!
lddevo88 was like listening to RATM for a bit.. 😂
RATM is still my #1 favorite band!! the ending is a homage to them and to Tom Morello whos guitar style made me want to try music...
Wintergatan RATM va är det för musik?
RATM="Rage Against The Machine"! The ending had a bit of RATM feeling to it - loved it! And what a contrast it made to the beginning of the song!
my bad did not think
I had some Melodies in my Head, now I found them.
Best. Anthem. Ever.
Now I have a favorite band
Me too
Agreed.
The theremin over rock/bass doubling was amazing
I feel like this song tells a story. I don't know what. But it's there.
Holy shit, that drummer can play the theremin really well, that instrument is so difficult to control
I had the great privilege to meet the late great Celia Sheen at a music session years ago. Her skill was beautiful to watch. So hard to play that instrument well.
Plus, it's hard to imagine an instrument that, both in sound and playing technique, is more opposite to drums than the theremin.
Listening to this. Repeatedly. Year after year.
Especially, the second part is a masterpiece inside a masterpiece.
Me too
If I could travel in time, I would travel to Malmö 10th November 2016 to buy the ticket and go to yours performance.
easily one of my fave wintergatan songs..
This just makes me wish all the more that the band would at least get together and record another album, even if they never tour again. Shits dope af
I've been listening to music for my whole adult life, almost 20 years (from Pink Floyd to Arcade Fire). I thought nothing will surprise me. But this... I don't know if it's similar sense of style, but for Christ sake, it's a world class. It should already have been watched million times.
this is a song and a performance to be remembered for centuries
I have become completely obsessed with this piece of music. Just incredible. Compulsory listening for anyone who has a heart beat.
After he used it for the "amputation" it became so much powerful to me.
10:44
Pain is Temporary
*Glory is Forever*
10:55
10:66
Everytime i go out in my car in Sweden i blast this out the window
I'm a noob to Wintergatan. This performance left me speechless and literally brought tears to my eyes. Yes, that good. And I've been a musician for over 40 years. BRAVO! BRAVO!
Busted out the modulin in this mideo.
Yea Best Mideos On YT
I was amazed that they got no less than four different instruments to make "moog-like" tonal contributions to the song (modulin, theremin and two keyboards), in addition to three making xylophonic sounds (music box, xylophone, keyboard). Incredible creativity.
If I'm honest, I prefer your live performances of this song over the recorded version. It's so full of power and energy that a recorded version just can't capture. Thank you for uploading this! You guys never fail to blow me away.
Yeah. I also prefer live records, be it concert or not. Recording track-by-track creates wrong atmosphere, misplaced accents, subtle attack etc...
KillForAttention
You are right
ditto, the album didn't quite stick to me. but this did. Much better sounds imo. So many flashbacks to random 90s songs
I have the 2 versions on my cell phone
in LOVE with the bassist rn!! im quite a few years away from his level but i aspire to be like him.
The "tightness" of Pink Floyd + the "atypicallness" of Muse + the "creativity" of the Beatles at their time = Wintergatan
the music that takes you to another Universe
we miss your music Martin, please come back 😢🎶
While I do really like this version, I have to admit that I miss the hammered dulcimer at the start. It brings such a lovely tonal quality to the song. Replacing the harp with the music box was a really nice move though, loved that!
what song is it?
I guess Martin got sick of tuning it :P
@ivanhero333 Paradis :)
Mnnvint
David mentioned in the "Sommarfågel live at Haldern Pop" mideo that the hammered dulcimer had 96 strings, each of which needed to be tuned. That would probably make everyone sick.
Jethro Q. Walrustitty honestly I have no idea how people can bare tuning more than 6 strings
I'm new to this band. I have to say, amazing work. They have become such a huge inspiration to me. I've lost musical touch and passion and I'm going to start writing again. I almost was brought to tears listening to this.
Understood. So much creativity and passion and intelligence! It ain't easy for a musical piece to make me optimistic for the human race, but "What is man, that hath such musicians in it?"
Incredible this electronic harp, what a sound !!
T H E best live performance I have ever seen of ANY artist, so glad I have discovered them.
Perfection.
I am not surprised the audience where almost motionless, standing in awe at what they where hearing and seeing.
Bring on the world tour as it will be unmissable.
Thank you Wintergatan !
The songs name should be "limitless", cuz you guys take the music to completely new levels.
but i recommend the music title should be.."floating in the galactic" that beyond limitless..
The ending always reminded me of "Just like you imagined" by Nine Inch Nails, the energy, the chords, the stage presence, you're all so awesome !
Constant goosebumps for 14 minutes and 18 seconds. I can't even handle. I want to see you live so bad
10:46 - ...and then it becomes a wicked Tool song...
Just wow... incredible...
It still amaze me how great is this track from 6:40 to 8:20. I really want to be there and listen it live.
The best music i have heard lately? YES!!! God, YES! Like a breath of fresh air after all these commercial "projects"! People are making their own, beautiful music!
YES YES YES!
I feel so lucky having been to that very concert at Victorie teatret I Malmö. It was truly very special!
YOU ARE SO LUCKY
10x better than the studio version.
The handoff between two keyboards that happens around the 6:40 time amazes me, every time I see one of your live performance of this tune. And I must say, the energy in this performance, especially the end is so good!
I agree, I had to watch it several times to catch it.
In performances previous to this, Evelina used to play this whole part on the keyboard herself, with Martin doing other stuff. I have no idea why they decided to split it between them for this one. :-)
theremin 😍😍
I think he means the part at 9:00.
ardiologi I see you've been watching rob scallon
rob scallon have played theremin?
ardiologi yea
I like wintergatan
Wintergatan is a legend that will go down in history... :D
People have no idea how difficult it is to play a theremin like that
Bißchoff some luckily do
Bißchoff The theremin requires some god tier skills.
Tack för denna perfekt på kvällen
When everything goes right! How could i've missed this one untill now...
I love this version of the song! It has so much energy and it almost feels like just four fantastic musicians having a conversation.
Nice to hear that classical music is coming back in a new innovative way.
I still come back to this every now and than, it's so amazing to me still ❤️
I was just taking a break from my game. This song came in to my head, and mentally played from start to finish without repetition (as if I'd played it here). That's never happened with any other song.
I was searching for Paradis , another duo but this is amazing
Those skills on theremin - impressive.
The absolute best live version of Paradis I have heard!
Better than the studio version, by a good bit.
Why have I never heard of this band. This song is amazing. And why is the best music always under the radar and in the far corners of RUclips ?
The Renaissance!!! We all experience the feeling of King David experiencing the entry to the tabernacle and temple of God and the rejoicing of the people at his gift from the Lord ... and human genius ...
How are you all so freaking talented?
LizzieLiberated They're genius... simple as that.
Swedish
Sweden is the new Japan xdxd
They all are born genius...
wendy mahyunanto it’s practice
Tack!! för en otroligt bra och magisk spelning i Malmö!!
Holy moly, every time I watch this video I want to like it again
Very beautiful song! I love the combination of elements: the music box, synths and acoustic instruments. Also a very tight performance by the musicians and a very nice mix.
Fabulously textured, musically brilliant and skilfully delivered musical entertainment. Smile making and a happy mood inducing smorgasbord. A veritable banquet for the senses. Had to glutinously listen twice in succession. Absolutely brilliant!!
To my ears one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written. You extraordinarily talented people making an utmost effort put me on the verge of tears time and again. Thank you for this. All of it. Thank you.
Paradis is a true piece of musical art, I love it!
like before eveen watching
And why not? It's not like they're going to play something that will make you go back and UN-like it.
Oh These Swedes. Absolutely gorgeous!
This performance is damn perfect. I find I listen this much more than the recorded version. Playing something this complex so well live tells something about not only of how great musicians you all are, but also about the arrangement.
This is 1 of THE GREATEST compositions Ive ever heard
I really hope Wintergatan tours America at some point
YES! YES!
what i really love about this is how it somehow feels like a story
from growing and coming out of the womb, to growing up
facing difficulties and obstacles and of overcoming them
then to improving one's self
to reaching the peak of your life
and then the story continues into the future
it feels like a real life adventure, but a comparatively realistic one
Interesting, that's how I perceive it, too. Do you divide the song into five sections, too? It reminded me immediately of the five parts of Freytags dramatic arc: exposition (0:00), rising action (2:55), climax (5:33), falling action (8:32), and dénouement (10:43) and I hope that Wintergatan will continue composing pieces of comparable length.
Holy fudge this is good! I didn't know you could make music with a wifi router.
Leaves me with "goose bumps" eyes wide, mouth open in amazement. You're each SO TALENTED. Would love to hear the story of how you all met, and became a band.
My favorite song!!!
And I love it!
Learned what a theremin is thanks to this video. The more you know!
Listening to this for the 100th time now, that guitar riff still brings chills down my spine
I love this band there awesome I hope to get to see them live in the USA Boston ma or NH please
Keep playing your incredible music thank you
A masterpiece! End of transmission!
Musisi yang jenius, gaya bahasa yang cerdas. Idola. Salam dari Indonesia.
Never felt 15 mins has ended so quick in one song. Love it
Happy composition, happy sounding instruments. How can you not feel happy just listening?
I'm not the kinda guy that picks favourites but this song man... it's not even a competition
Those heavy riffs at the end, holy shit. Fuckin' amazing.
That last song was astoundingly good.
*Clapping*
This is officially best drummer solo ever!
Потрясающая музыка, классные инструменты. Крайне мало чего то подобного. Такие исполнители остаются в памяти
Your music and live performance is so full of ENERGY! Thank you for that!
This song change my life.
Congrats to keyboardist on the little one. :)
best musician in this century
Love it! So happy I checked my subscription feed!
id literally cry my ass off if i was there
I have no words.
I saw your second show in Malmö the day after. A really great live experience. Thanks Wintergatan, and an extra thanks to Martin for taking time and talking to anyone who wanted to afterwards (and signing the LP's we bought!)
Nintendo 64 and Retro consoles Sound i Love IT 😍😍😍😍😍
Listen this each night before going to bed :)
14 MINUTES OF EPICNESS !!!
